The august fake news of the day video is kinda that, where you would have zombie outbreak and random hockey team in the same sentence.

yeah most of those trade speculation articles are pure fan fiction and you can usually tell which team they are rooting for because their proposed trade has them fleecing every trade partner, I'm no expert but their valuations are all over the place

I swear Facebook has become awful. It used to be a place where you can catch up with people you don't see much anymore, but now it's nothing more than suggested posts and clickbait content... Drives me crazy.

And a lot of these CZcams channels now just report on rumors mainly like Top Shelf Hockey. I mean they do like what happened daily and then they just have 13 more minutes dedicated to just all trade rumors. Half the time it’s just their own speculation mixed with somebody making up a rumor. it’s just crazy and I’m so glad I have a channel to go to like yours where you don’t see that this is a great video. Great analysis and it’s a great observation of what’s really going on.
Being a Sabres fan I have learned over the past 14 years to not believe any trade rumor.

I agree with you completely. I think there’s also a difference between rumor mills and discussion posts. Nothing wrong with an account saying “would this defenseman be a good fit on the oilers? Here is how the salary cap could work for this.” So long as they don’t try to make you think the player had been traded or it was a legit rumor. Discussion on hypotheticals versus generating buzz in bad faith are very different
It's sad during a rebuild. The second a player strings together a few good games and makes it fun to watch, the rumor mill is just straight into attack mode saying it's time for that player to leave haha

I love the rumour mill and I generally can tell when a headline is absurd and meant to generate clicks and I admit i entertain it because I love to see what these people come up with. My general rule of thumb is that I usually only trust anything from Friedman or Lebrun. But I see people post videos about “Trade Rumours” or where the hell did the idea of Crosby going to Toronto come from

Video idea - how certain factors (eg different rules, different equipment etc) have impacted player stat lines across each decade, and what must be considered when comparing player stat lines from guys who played in different eras.
The ones I've seen recently that made me lose IQ points are the flames making trades with the oilers. Up until Markstrom was actually traded he was probably linked to half the leauge.

I appreciate the content. I'm a sucker for Canadian teams trade rumours. So many of the insane rumours I hear are about people who are never going anywhere that are also apparently being traded to Montreal and Toronto tomorrow.
All these Toronto/Montreal shows just push them out there. McGroarty, Zegras, Kakko, Necas and now Kent Johnson. Columbus isn't in a position to give up on Kent Johnson. But there it is. And we are always sending our bad contracts we are trying to dump, the other way.
A little more probity on the internet is all that's needed. Hmmm I'm going to hold my breath and wait for it.

First and foremost, that Latvia sweater looks great, and it kinda makes me want to find one for the Poland national team (my mother was 100% Polish, so it'd kind of be a familial heritage thing)
Second, you mentioned the Facebook algorithm. CZcams must use the Facebook algorithm, because I've been seeing a lot of weird crap on my CZcams home screen. "You watched a live stream? Here's a two hour stream of someone you've never heard of doing something you don't care about!" "You watched a video from [insert channel here] recently, so here's one from five years ago about something that was only relevant then!" Go home, CZcams. You're drunk.

Trade rumours are lots of fun. You get a good insight into a fan's base knowledge and enthusiasm. I love hearing how players a fan base wants to get rid of are worth a ransom to other teams.

Toronto is the worst team to listen to trade rumors on. Before July 1st they were “interested” in 99% of the free agents. And before the last trade deadline they were “in” on anyone rumored to be available. It’s to the point where when I see “Toronto interested” keep scrolling because it’s false 99% of the time, and when it is true they don’t have the Cap space to make it work 🤷

A just watched a video from a supposed hockey channel. The kid making the video was talking about hall of famer "Gordie Howie".
A lot of people try to capitalize on things that get popular quickly and unfortunately hockey is no different. It should be the bare minimum that you have to understand hockey and its history to make hockey content

Trade rumors are nothing but click bait for their channel especially during the summer. Also 95% of all summer trade rumors never happen.

There should be a distinction between "trade rumour" videos and "mock trade" videos...Mock trades are educated guesses based on what could work between 2 teams. Those are fun- "trade rumours" are BS because odds that these sites have a real source are very low...
Some of the posts on Facebook about hockey rumors are hilarious. I would say 99.9% of the post’s are false.
There are CERTAINLY channels who make content based off fake rumors ans CERTAINLY not many of his "sources" are ever correct. Cant remember the name of the channel but CERTAINLY there are people who know who i mean
