  • Kumiko is a Japanese technique of assembling wooden pieces without the use of nails. Thinly slit wooden pieces are grooved, punched, and mortised, and then fitted individually using a plane, saw, chisel, and other tools to make fine adjustments. The technique was developed in Japan in the Asuka Era. But my case is entirely different the material I chose is Stainless steel and I need to weld it. The manufacturing approach I am taking here is also different. Definitely, one of the difficult tasks I have ever done, and there is always room for improvement left. This is extremely precise work and I think I am a little bit here and there off but being a big project it's not gonna matter in the end. The one thing about Japanese art I like is that in the first instance the thing might look quite easy to build but the reality is very far from that. Overall I am happy with the result. The material for the build I chose is 304-grade Stainless Steel because the screen has to be installed outdoor and the dimension of the pipe is 1/2" X 3/4". Hope you enjoy the build, if so then definitely hit the like and subscribe button.

    I'm watching from Japan.
There are not many Japanese people who know about these things, but it is amazing how carefully they are researched.
In fact, I think people overseas might be more enthusiastic about Japanese culture.
    This is a good project.👍

Dear, Tig gives clean weld and most of the time there are no blow holes, some of the material I am using is so thin so I switch to tig. The video for the jig already there on channel.
