- 2000 Nissan Maxima 3.0 (vq30) straight pipe exhaust. 2 inch pipe from the cat back. No muffler no resonater. 6-7 months old. Check out other video on my channel for when it was first done.
Getting my grandmas old 2000 Maxima GLE 3.0 in two weeks I believe I’m going to straight pipe it, this set up sounds beasty💯

I have a 01 Maxima, those engines were engineered to be so quiet you can run straight pipes easy, but it doesn't sound that great. My Titan, well that's another story. ;)

@Skip R yes, factory cats. Just removed the resonator and muffler. It droned real bad around 28-3200rpm if i remember correctly

The 98 is actually an a32 chassis vs this is an a33 (the generation after), but the a32's are also great cars. Same powertrain as these first 2 production years of the a33. This was a great car the years I had it, and if I could acquire another a33/a32 I'd jump on it. Hope you enjoy it 👍🏼

Me personally, I wouldn't get a maxima unless it's a manual. And the '03 had the vq35 6 speed vs this car was a vq30 w/ a 5 speed. I drove a friend's auto vq30 maxima and it wasn't nearly as fun or cool.
100% buy an 02-03 manual maxima. The automatics are sluggish and the 3.0 can’t pull nearly as hard as the 3.5 can. Plus vq35s just sound great.

This car had all factory cats. It had no muffler, and no resonator. If you cut the cat off it will be significantly louder and probably raspier than what you hear in my video. Also the 03 maxima has a vq35 not a vq30 so the engines are different in tone

I need answers. I have an 02 Maxima SE 3.5L and they are telling me I can’t delete my cats and go straight pipe. Is this true? Cause seeing too many on here where you can. I called 2 different muffler shops and they told me no. So if anyone can get back with me on this I’ll definitely appreciate it.
Most exhaust shops wont cut your cats off because theyre federally required due to emissions. This still had factory cats at the time, just no muffler thus making it a straight pipe from the cat back. If you delete just the muffler, its essentially the same sound as any other vq35 w/out a muffler. Any exhaust setup you hear on a 350z/g35/04+ maxima will sound the same if you want more exhaust references
You can delete your cats but only if your on the strip not out in public

Elijah Pirtle sounds like a diesel at lower rpms, backfires a lot more, has a rasp to it, and kinda muddy sometimes. Definitely sounds like a hardbody with a 2foot Cherry bomb
