Jim Steinman had a long time collaboration and friendship with Meatloaf, but they would often argue and stop talking to each other. Jim offered the song to Meatloaf first, but Meatloaf declined the song, so Jim offered it to Celine. Later Jim and Meatloaf started working together again and Meatloaf asked to try recording his interpretation of the song and Jim agreed, so it was put on the new album they were working on together.

I was born in 1993 but grew up on records because of my dad. My mamaw called one day and said she had found a record but wasn't sure if it would be suitable for me because of the album cover. It was Bat Out of Hell. Dad said just listen to it and you'll change your mind. She couldn't believe the beautiful music that poured out of that record. There were nights when the wind was so cold
That my body froze in bed if I just listened to it right outside the window
There were days when the sun was so cruel
That all the tears turned to dust and I just knew my eyes were drying up forever
I finished crying in the instant that you left
And I can't remember where or when or how
And I banished every memory you and I have ever made
But when you touch me like this (touch me like this)

There were nights of endless pleasure
It was more than any laws allow-baby, baby!
If I kiss you like this (kiss you like this)
And if you whisper like that (whisper like that)
It was lost long ago but it's all coming back to me

It's so hard to resist and it's all coming back to me
I can barely recall, but it's all coming back to me now....
But you were history with the slamming of the door
And I made myself so strong again somehow
And I never wasted any of my time on you since then!
But if I touch you like this (touch you like this)
And if you kiss me like that (kiss me like that)
It was so long ago but it's all coming back to me
If you touch me like this (touch me like this)
And if I kiss you like that (kiss you like that)
It was gone with the wind but it's all coming back to me now
    It's all coming back
It's all coming back to me now
There were moments of gold and there were flashes of light
There were things we'd never do again but they'd always seemed right

When you see me like this (see me like this)
And when I see you like that (see you like that)
Then we see what we want to see-all coming back to me
The flesh and the fantasies-all coming back to me
I can barely recall, but it's all coming back to me now....
If you forgive me all this (forgive me all this)
If I forgive you all that (forgive you all that)
We forgive and forget and it's all coming back to me now

The thing about love, is nothing compares to your first love. It’s hard to explain. It’s even harder to forget. The tears and years that have gone by. The ghosts of past haunt your memories. Songs you have shared. Folly of youth may mean nothing to some. But to others, they can cry a River of regret and love haunts them. Because they never get over the first love.

@@Mr_Potato1995 the original doesn't automatically mean better.
Here's a list of some covers that are far superior to the original
      1) sound of silence by disturbed
      2) crying in the rain by aha
      3) turn turn turn by the byrds (original was by Judy Collins and Pete seegar or something)
      4) eve of destruction by the screaming jets
      5) ghost riders in the sky by Johnny cash
      6) man of constant sorrow from o brother where art thou
      7) Up around the bend by Hanoi Rocks
      8) Crimson and Clover by Joan Jett
      9) hellfire Jonathan young
      10) desolation row by MCR
      That's just a few.
But I'm almost sure celines version came out before this, but if it didn't, in this case, the original would be better than the covers
