- Three years and no score ago, I uploaded a video about a piece of metal that goes on a specific firearm part. It helped solidify my choice to continue making videos and gave me a small following. Here I give you the three year update and my choice to continue using the Trijicon Novak mount! Thank you all for watching and following my channel!
I purchased a RIA GI model 45 acp for a shadow box. After seeing your video, I am going to go this route and install a 407k. Thanks for the instructions, it will allow me to enjoy my 1911 instead of just looking at the pistol. Semper Fi!!
Thank you for your Videos..the old and new ones - cause my eyes won´t get better, i´m thinking about doing the same but was wondering how it looks.
I really have to say, i thought it would look much worse...thats an absolutely usable solution...price/performance is really nice.
Here in Europe, I got a plate from Toni System for my 1911 Springfield ...doing my first tries now with an LPA and red fibre front...if that doesnt work out well for me. I´m going to change at least one gun to the plate with optics!
Amazing pistol/set-up and thanks for the update. I hope we can see a yearly update video 🍻
Thank you I really appreciate that!
gun looks great...nice job...considering it myself.
I recently purchased that RIATac Ultra, I need that red dot
Stoked that you did an update on this. I remember watching that original video all those years ago. Glad to see you doing well.
Thanks man, that really means a lot to me.
Thanks for the update! It seems to have held out well. Installing a similar mount to mine so this is really useful :D
Excellent!
Hey man loved the update on the mount and I’ve been thinking of doing this to my ria 1911 tac ultra to put a holosun 407C so it’s nice to know that it’s held up
I think it looks great. I have the RIA Tac Ultra FS 9mm/22tcm combo single stack, and the Pro Ultra Match FS HC in 9mm. I’ll definitely be mounting red dots for my next project.
Thanks for the video, iv been searching for options for my Tisas 1911A1 for optics.
Maybe this will work for me.
Best of luck to you! This mount has been great for me.
Nice video.
Thanks McGavin
I have a smith and Wesson 6904 with a Novak cut rear sight and I’m hoping to be able to install this cause I can’t find anyone who can mill the slide for a red dot because of the slide mounted safety decocker
just keep it as it , use the money save up to get the new "2011"s with optic cut ready
Are the older non optic cut stacatto c2 novak cut?
Love the pistol thinking about doing the same but also adding suppressor height sights. What compensation with picking up your red dot did you have to do. Have you updated any of the inners, trigger, spring, firing pin…etc.
Honestly there wasn't much compensation with acquiring the red dot. If anything, I feel like I'm holding the pistol at a slightly lower position compared to a slide mounted red dot. But again, the difference is negligible and it didn't take me long to get used to it. I have not done anything to the internals, everything is completely stock on my 1911.
is that mount made by trijicon ? i have same gun but i can't find right mount for mine red dot
ETA: is that just a Trijicon AC32058 plate?
I've watched your series on these and would like to know where you got that mount. Maybe I missed it, but I can't figure out who manufactures it. I found one on mountsplus, but I'm not sure if its the same; I'd like to go with what you go as I have the same pistol but in 9mm. I recently contacted Hayes and they aren't taking any more RIA work for the time being so I want to do this while I wait.
Yes that is the correct item number from Trijicon! Thank you for posting that. I completely neglected to mention it all in my videos. It is a Trijicon product and you can get it from Amazon as well. I do believe it is a bit cheaper on Amazon. Thanks for watching!
2 questions
1.) is there any cowitness with your front sight?
2.) what holster profile do you use? I got a tcm premium with the rail and a x300, need a holster and don’t know what profile is closest to it.
1-No unfortunately there is no cowitness with the front sight. One down fall to having a high mount like this.
2-I used a full size 1911 profile with full rail to order my holsters. My first go around with the holster in this video is actually a non-railed 1911 profile. I could not return the holster so i used a heat gun and re-formed the holster to my gun and light.
Did you gun come with the light mount and magwell? If not could you link where you get the parts? Thanks!
Surefire is the light brand and the magwell is standard issue with the RIA TAC series of pistols
nice!
which red dot size do you use,
1moa, 2.5moa or 5moa?
I use 1-MOA dots
RMR cut on 1911 will have to use a plate, slide not wide enough for screws or index pins
Yeah. I would run a 507k from holosun for slimmer fit
What holster are you running?
Tier 1 Optio
What optic did you say RMR?
Yes or any optic that uses the RMR footprint will work on this mount.
what holster are you using?
Tier 1 Concealed Optio
Thanks for update. I have same RIA will be doing this now.
which selection did you make on their website for the Optio. I dont see RIA as an option. Thanks!@@MatSuPewPew907
Look up greentick tactical $100 to mill your slide
