    I'm from Ontario too! And I own the Infrared LC 500 with the tan interior. Absolutely LOVE my LC 500 and the attention I get is absolutely incredible. What a blast to drive everyday! I wish you mentioned more details about the interior like the silver strip on the door lights up at night and the neat green light lights up when the doors are locked. Also the infinity mirror effect tail lights and the how the check mark lights in the front go into the housing of the triple beam headlights are also some of the unique designs of the car. Thanks for the review and keep up the good work!

    As an engineer, I was surprised that you did not discuss any engine features. Also why is it that this car is not as fast as the 6 cylinder supra. How about maintenance, how expensive and how difficult is it to service this car ?
    How about gas mileage. Is this car equipped with 4 wheel steering? You talked about the physical features but not much about mechanical features.

    • @IceAce1
      @IceAce1 Před 7 měsíci

      Yes. I was expecting a different discussion too, as a non-engineer. I listened up when the narrator said he's been to the factory many times, but disappointingly no related background information followed.

    With electric cars taking over, I'd have to seriously consider the LC500h with its combination of very good fuel economy in the city and 34 MPG on the highway . In other words, the perfect trip car in which periodic traffic jams are typical.

    Thanks for an objective analysis of two great cars. Remember that Keith Duckworth of Cosworth said that the 911 is a triumph of evolution over design, over 70 years and it should be good. The LC 500 is probably the longer lasting lower cost vehicle and gets my vote.

    I'm still not sold on this vehicle as much as I love its exterior design. It needs ambient cabin lighting! It's too dark inside and many dash knobs are not well seen. The back seats also need to have a fold-down feature. I am leaning toward a 2025 Mercedes AMG now. Everyone keeps talking about the V8 sound! Well my High School buddy had a 1969 Ford FastBack Mustang 390 cu in engine and that thing had fantastic low end torque and a sound that nothing today can emulate. One cup holder and a trackpad- no thank you!

    This is one of the most amazing coupes I think I’ve ever seen! I was scanning through all your videos and I found that you did a review on the LC 500; I hope you do the 2023 LC 500 because that’s what I’m in the market for… I follow your advice and will follow your advice for the rest of my life…with the future purchases of Lexus & Toyota… David you truly are a genius; a very brilliant man… Thank you for your input and it’s an honor to be able to learn from your videos…I think you’re one of the best; if not the best in the world…. I mean that wholeheartedly… You have my attitude of gratitude… I wanted to ask you a question about this vehicle if you were going to permanently own one would you go with the convertible or the coupe?? Please let me know as soon as you can thank you so much again…. And also what color combination would you get? Give me a color combination for a convertible and one for a hardtop…Give me two of your favorite Interior and exterior color combinations… I can’t wait to hear back from you… i’m so excited about this car!

      Hi I think I’m a different David you were talking to. My 2023 LC500 Convertible should be here in 2 weeks. This David says, go for the convertible. It’s not a practical car. So go all the way . If you want practical then go with a minivan. I’m an older guy and want fun and something pretty to look at in the driveway. I’m trading in my beloved 2010 Velocity yellow Corvette w 19 on it. It’s time to move on and the LC is next 🏖️

    Good morning, David. Before you set off for Europe, you prepared a lot of material. I don’t think it’s a disadvantage that large entertainment screens do not support touch control. It is not elegant to stretch your arms on the screen. Touch screens are the favorite style of cheap electric cars. The design based on the touchpad and knob is the right choice for Lexus to maintain the elegance of the car.

    Very similar to the Aston martin db11. Lexus should of made it a 2 seater and enlarged the boot/trunk as you can't fit anyone in rear seats. Also that would help to lighten it.

    I wish that the LC 500 had a sunglass holder, passenger cup-holder, and a cubbyhole area to place a Smartphone (aside from the flip-up arm-rest area). The LC 500 has an optional heated steering wheel, heated seats, and a great heating system, so why are gloves being worn in the video? This is a good video, but it does lack cabin criticisms. I give the LC 500 and this video an A-.

    I have been studying this car, particularly in convertible form. It is simply beauty on wheels. However, the half-butt rear passenger space and the half-butt trunk space really bother me. If only the rear seat were eliminated and that space added to the trunk... Also it is dang heavy, and for that money, the trans should be DCT.

    it's timeless! (don't bother about the touchpad). Hearing words "Nori Green" makes me hungry already, Sushi!
    Btw, L is the 12th letter. 1+2 = 3 (Trinity)
    Not surprisingly I love brands start with letter L (as Japanese tongues pronounce L as R and R as L. R is 1 and 2 becomes one, pay attention to details, not surprisingly I was born February 1st and my first name starts with letter R), such as Lenovo, LG, Lexar, Lexmark, Lexus, etc.
    Yet L sounds just as EL = AL, IL, ELAH, ILAH, etc (means god, while IL in French means him, addressing a male).
    Btw, LC 500 face is inspired by face of Native Indian American warrior "Black Hawk" the defender of the Sauk.

    Thinking of selling my 2-year old Model 3 SR+ for an LC500. Am I crazy? I can afford it and I feel like Lexus won't be using their NA 5L V8s for much longer... what are your thoughts comparing the two cars for daily usage?

    • @AutomotivePress
      @AutomotivePress  Před 3 lety +4

      That's a great question. But it's a bit like comparing apples to oranges since one is an EV and one is a big V8 car. Even though I do like the model 3, the Lexus LC is a far more interesting car to drive, with amazing V8 engine and great handling. This could also be a collector's car down the road because it's so rare. Keep the model 3 for daily errands and buy the LC for the weekend fun! The LC is really amazing to drive.

    • @tusing7780
      @tusing7780 Před 3 lety

      @@AutomotivePress Thanks, those are some good insights! If you could only keep one (and had to use it for a daily), which would you choose?
      I would only be able to keep one due to some logistical constraints. The Tesla’s biggest selling point is autopilot. As far as I’m aware, the Lexus does not have adaptive cruise control that works at low speeds like the Tesla?

    • @AutomotivePress
      @AutomotivePress  Před 3 lety +4

      @@tusing7780 I think it depends a lot on what factors are most important to you? The LC is not very practical, but super fun to drive. The Tesla uses no gas and has a lot more space, but it's EV and not a V-8. I'm a hopeless car fanatic who loves real engine so for me, it would be the Lexus LC of course - but I also might find it too restrictive because I can't carry much with the LC.

    • @jscifres100
      @jscifres100 Před 2 lety

      As of yesterday, I own both a Tesla model 3 performance and a LC500. I don’t think I could choose between them. , but if you are forced to choose, then you gotta look at your primary use case. Both are fantastic cars to use for local drives, but the Lexus is a stronger distance option (unless you need more space for stuff or people).
      Good luck!

    Im sorry guys but I'm waiting for lexus to bring back the wood veneer and elegant wooden steering wheel. I hate a leather steering wheel for it looks cheap and it stains easy. Plastic everywhere with high-tech screens will eventually be outdated. I think you can never go wrong with raw elements like metals and woods that never goes out of style.
    If this LC500 had the elegant woods from the classic sc430 and a hard top too... It would be a hit with me.
    Its really dangerous to add too much tech to people who just want to drive a car without worring if the race model mechanical changes... too much stuff to eventually stop working. Give me the body and a beautiful wood interior, with analog speedometer and im good.

      Good point about 'too much tech' Ala the Mercedes and Tesla large iPad-type touchscreens, physical buttons for common functions like temperature is a much more practical and safer engineering option. "yes' some real wood would be nice, like on the sterling wheel and passenger dash area.

      @edmundcharles5278 All it takes is a little kid eating French fries 🍟 and touch all the leather... 😆 vegetables oils are very hard to remove from leather. Believe me, I know from when my kids were little... 😆

    10:15 you are confusing steering ratio with precision and conection.
    This car use a fast steering ratio of 13:1, its mean 13 degrees of steering wheel move 1 degree the wheels, but its not mean a precise or steering or nothing about conection between steering wheel, driver and the road.
    In fact, its electrical, so you dont have any feedback of the grip, like not power assisted steering which make the steering lightest when lose grip.
    And neither about "precise" steering, a slow steering is precise too, simply slower like a 18.1 ratio, its not a delay or rubber effect like you say.
    Simply for city is better a fast steering ratio, and for high speed is better a slow ratio.
    Porsche use hydraulic power steering, so yet give us some feedback.
    I dont know your channel but did you said you are automotive engineer? sure?

      Thank you for your feedback. Just to be clear, I have 35 years of automotive engineering experience, and I understand steering mechanism intimately. Electric power steering is not 100% electric, it is still usually a rack and pinion but the power steering is driving by a motor. The motor could be mounted on the steering column or mounted on the rack, the two system provides different steering feedback. Porsche's system is no longer completely hydraulic, and yet they are able to replicate similar feel as before. The steering ratio does not contribute to the overall steering "effort" feel - that is determined by the calibration of the steering system and the software that provides electrical-induced feedback to the hands. By the way, Only Infiniti and a small number of models offer fully electric, steer-by-wire system. Precision and steering accuracy, feedback, and road feel all contribute to the "sportiness" of the steering. Some companies just do it better, such as Porsche.
