Should put it on Casters add a white plug strip and roll it around as needed. That’s what I did and added a paper towel holder and 2 dish towel bars. I love mine it is totally functional I added an oversized extra thick Maple Butcher block that I lightly sand and oil twice a year. It looks amazing. My ninja air fryer and food processor and pressure cookers live below and on top when in use I simply plug them on the Plug strip tucked below the top and screwed down in place. It’s lovely to have it electrified
And so easy. Then roll it around to mop or plug in or unplug

How did you secure the butcher block? Or is it just sitting on top?
Hi, I used screws from the bottom, when you get the base cabinets it comes with some metal rails with holes, that you use to attach the board to the base cabinets.

How was the counter top attached? Just using brackets inside the cabinets?
The ikea cabinets come with metal rails that have screw holes that you can use to attach the top to the cabinets.

Hej CarsCloseUp. Den er 165*80*2,5 cm.
Jeg købte og fik den skåret hos Bauhaus. Udover bordpladen fik jeg også til 2 flotte hylder, som jeg har lavet med resten samt nogle rør.

No we built a cabinet base using 2*4s and screwed the cabinets into them
love the ideas of building an IKEA too.... did you attach the sub-base (2x4 lumber) to your floor ???
No I didn't, because it's rental but it's quite steady

What is the stain that you used on the butcher block?

Maybe you can get something similar and make sure you seal it, I did not seal mine. I sealed it on my coffee bar and it looks really good. Let me know if you need anything else.

It was around $550, but this is denmark, its cheap.
Not sure if I missed it but you did not show how you attached the top to the base and what fixings you used.
Yes, we didn't show that, but the ikea cabinets have rails at the top with screw holes, which allow you to attach the butcher block or any type of top you have using screws

How did you keep the island from moving around at the base?
I used pieces of 1 by 2s, check on the video from minute 13, it shows how I did it.😊
@@ACornerInEurope oh i see! I noticed that in the video but I wasn't sure if you nailed them into the floor? or do the pieces just keep everything down?
No we didn't nail them to the floor, we combined the 1 by 2s pieces together with pockets holes, then drilled the cabinets on top of the 1 by 2s and also drilled the cabinets to each other to make one big piece. Its solid!😅 Won't move an inch.
We kind of made a frame with the 1 by 2s the frame is smaller in length and width compared to the kitchen Island.
