Dolores was among the first singers using the falsetto in the way she did, to hit right inside your soul. The painful suffering of families destroyed and young people trying to save their own lives was all there, in their songs, in her voice. So I was drinking my Guinness both excited for this amazing sound and with my heart crumbling, my eyes becoming more watery by the second. Listening to this song again for the first time since I was a young teen. It's brought me to tears. Holy shit. I never knew what the actual message was until today. Such a powerful song.
@Paige Arbogast Well, it's up to you how you'd like to interpret it, as there's an "official" purpose for the song dealing w/violence in Ireland. But if you don't put it in that context, it's applicable to all war. Basically, the average person views war as this vicarious "oh, they're over there fighting" kinda thing. Average folks don't talk about it & when they do it's dismissive of reality. The "zombie" is the fact that, in your head, you think of these humans fighting in a war when reality is you should consider them likely dead as that's how serious you should treat war. These dead soldiers are no longer with us, but in your head, they are still fighting. It's sick that we all think of war so dismissively. It's heartless & I'm ashamed of myself for not noticing this about myself sooner. I will NEVER allow my children to sign up to be in the military
I knew right away, but I’m an American with Irish heritage and like history. I remember a coworker in the nineties complaining about the harsh sounds. I told him it’s about the fighting in Ireland, he said surely they could do it without being hard on his ears. Of course I like the song, so my feelings were “whatever”.

What a voice Dolores O'Riordan had. She's still sadly missed today.

With what's happening in Israel/Hamas Palestine today, this song is so appropriate. Our collective souls are weeping, but feel so helpless. Thank you Cranberries for this timeless piece of truth.

Warum wird Jesus im Video geszeit sein Kreuz?
This song was made during the 90s war in the Balkans. As someone who's from those parts, I can tell you with confidence that a lot of my peers used to listen back in 06/07 but even nowadays. Good song with a deep message, always hits home..
I cry every time I listen to this song and I play it everyday on the way to work. Makes me appreciate everything! Love you guys

It's a shame it all ended way too early but I hope she is happy where she is and has peace and love surrounding her forever. Dolores O’Riordan is a LEGEND with that unique voice/vocals. RIP
Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence caused such silence
Who are we mistaken?
But you see, it's not me
It's not my family
In your head, in your head, they are fighting
With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are crying
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie-ie, oh
Do, do, do, do
Do, do, do, do
Do, do, do, do
Do, do, do, do
Another mother's breaking
Heart is taking over
When the violence causes silence
We must be mistaken
It's the same old theme
Since nineteen-sixteen
In your head, in your head, they're still fighting
With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are dying
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie
What's in your head, in your head?
Zombie, zombie, zombie-ie-ie-ie

Delores was an original that is unreplacable. No one could do it like her. I wish she was still with us. She is dearly missed
Dolores died of cáncer :(
@@adriancarrilloherrera7804 She accidentally drowned in a bathtub while intoxicated. She didn't die of cancer. Unless alcoholism is considered a metaphorical cancer.

Listening to this after seeing what's happening in Gaza...truly heartbreaking..

@@hotchkissrecords beautifully said.
@@mountainguyed67 That person sounds like a douche. This song is a masterpiece. Perhaps the pain coming through loud & clear isn't something they could handle.
@@hotchkissrecords Possibly. Dismissive person, just like the song is referring to.
