yeah, that's a one-of-a-kind phones. in addition to all of it's capabilities it was one of very few phones that had not only FM radio receiver, but also an FM transmitter which allowed to, so to say, stream your music or sound from video to any FM receiver (if I am not mistaking, Nokia was the only company to implement FM transmitters in few of their phones). I used this feature in my car. back at the time there was no bluetooth receivers in most cars. so this was a killer feature. at least for me.
i dont understand, you mean you could play your songs on the radio??? im confused
@@benny5299 exactly.. say you are in a car with an fm radio system. Find an empty freq. Where there is no broadcast. Tune the phones transmitter to that freq. and you can listen to your music on car radio/audio system without, Bluetooth or need of internet connection

This phone had so much potential, back in the day, Nokia had a lot of hardware power but extremely poor software.
But this one had a decent software along with great hardware specs.
If ONLY Nokia went along with this phone, released new iterations and all. It would have been the new Android.
Embrace The Light agreed. I used this phone for like 3 years. Started on meemo os. Then i joined the forum/community until meego development. I even managed to install windows dualbooting in this phone. Sadly, nokia never supported this open source os. Thus this community lack resources especially in budget term. This is the ultimate programmers phone wetdream. I first hack Wifi using this phone too. Just for educational purpose ofcourse. This phone trully holds the potential back in the day, if only they properly invest and supported this kinda of os, there will one more major mobile os today.
I couldn't agree more, exactly as I said, Nokia missed a great opportunity. What a waste!
Ive been wanting to buy this phone for over 5 years!
I still have this phone and it works in excellent condition. The potential was HUGE and due to the software being open ended, it was one of the reasons I bought it. Sort of being an early adopter if you will.
Exact opposite... Hardware was junk but software was super efficient.. Not feature rich by the way.....

The only phone which was way more powerful and futuristic than iphone and so called galaxy/ android flagships that time. Nokia was never ready for maemo/meego prime time! I used n900, n9, iphone and galaxy at the same time and i can confidently say this was the mobile future which got scrapped because of poor leadership and management.

I used to have this phone and I must say, this is the most beautiful Nokia phone I’ve ever had and also N76.

This was hands down my favourite phone of all time. Yes I have an iPhone now but that phone was the shit! It had an fm transmitter and everything !!!! It was amazing !!

I remember buying this phone in Dubai about a month after it was released and I loved it. When I stopped working overseas I moved to North Carolina and the carriers did not want to let me use it so I dropped a go! phone sim in it and used it till I sold it. I do miss this phone since I could use a full office suite on it (at the time it was still open office) and the storage on it was great for the time still to this day most phone companies charge a premium for anything over 16 gigabytes.
Just curious as to why you sold it? I'm using this phone right now since my Samsung Note phone is in repair. I can make make and receive phone calls using T mobiles network. Unfortunately, ATT got rid of there 2g network. This phone was factory unlocked. I can still send and receive text messages. I can very lightly surf the web. Most websites don't work, but a few do work. I have to check my gmail with the built in web browser, because the mail app doesn't work anymore. I had Skype, but it finally stopped working for some unknown reason. The gps maps works excellent!!! I can find my way pretty much anywhere here in the U.S. I have the notification light for missed calls and text messages. I love it!!!
@@tsdr6830 I sold it mainly due to the fact that the company I was working with issued me a phone with data. I do regret selling it but as of now I am happy with what I have now.

That touch screen and lcds is terrific in its launch time I'm so glad to say that I've used this phone in my college days I broke that camera stand magnet so it's very annoying to keep it in and out from pocket. So I sold it

I had this phone! It was revulution back in time .Perfect hardware and software match. I even installed Android to experience how it is but I installed back the meemo because it was so much more advanced. Nokia made mistake not to continue and develop this further by not supporting open source developers.

wow the beast n900 i really miss this phone the os is great but sadly no 3rd party support for games and apps i install most of my apps and games using xterminal, dual boot to android, debian this phone is one of a kind

I always wish someone would go brave and use a slightly bigger but functional design of older phones, then they can add more batteries, Jack's, dual speakers and keyboards like this. I know some of then can be implemented using accessories, but those things, never feel elegant to me.
I'd like to say that thing is a computer with a modem to make a phone call, rather than a cellphone. Still a beast until these days, hackerphone 📱
