I am a 56 year old man and tears came to my eyes when you said "make Dua for me to Allah to make wearing hijab easy for me " .
I made dua for you my daughter.
*Islam is not about Hijab.*
*Islam is about living the life of honesty and trying your best to be righteous in your day to day matters. Don't lie, cheat, deceive, render injustice to others. And you try your best to pray 5 times a day.*
*In the eyes of many Muslim, Islam starts and ends with Hijab/Beard and Salah but there is absolutely no focus on living the life of honesty - and hence why, many Muslim countries are ranked in the top most corrupt countries in the world. We have TOTALLY LOST the true message of Islam - and that is, together with 5 times salah, LIVE THE LIFE OF HONESTY.*
You wrote a very endearing statement.
There are some of you 'debating' this well meaning elder. I'm sure he knows the drill at least as well as you. FOCUS on the Positive - ONLY. Here, the topic du jour was hijab - only, and he responded to the parallel. Kind consideration begins - at home 1st and foremost with us giving any and all leeway/understanding for possible errors or incorrect assumptions.

@@Amish07 If you're driven by a strong desire then have patience and allow yourself plenty of time to get there in small steps that you're comfortable with over a long period of time. Styles like hairbands, hair buns, hoodies, baseball caps, hats and shawls could be part of those steps. Doing it out of pressure may not be advisable. Better let the desire to do so grow naturally first.

Salaam sister. Whenever I hear a new revert speaking, I think how lucky these people are that Allah almighty chose them to be in the straight path. Allah guides them from darkness to light. Surah Twaha shed light to the heart of one of the greatest sahaba Umar ibn al Khattab (R). He was mesmerized when he read the first verses of surah Twaha before he came to islam. You must read his biography. Even the westerners are astonished when reading his biography. His name is paired with justice and truth, strength and courage. An exceptional character. His transformation was phenomenal and an example that how Quran can change a human. My advice to you is to ask Allah daily to guide you in the straight path and not to deviate you from the truth. To wear hijab will take some time for some new muslims. In Sha Allah everything will be fine. May Allah bless you and your family. Aameen.

A couple years ago, people in Italy were trying to make it illegal to wear hijab in the country but then a high-ranking politician said if he did, he’d have to remove every picture and statue of Maryaam from the country.

Io anche, sono una ragazza musulmana italiana e non nego che molti italiani hanno un sapere negativo e sbagliato dell'islam, invitano molte ragazze musulmane a lasciare la loro religione e a non indossare il velo considerano quest'ultimo come un fattore negativo che svalorizza la donna, quando è vero tutto il contrario... Molti lo ritengono un "abbigliamento marocchino" che viola "I valori dell'Italia" (quando in realtà sono loro a violarli), ogni cosa diversa dalle proprie abitudini viene prrcepita come "negativa"... Senza riflettere però che anche la Madonna viene sempre rappresentata con un velo, che le suore indossano un velo, che nella bibbia c'è scritto di coprirsi il capo con un velo.
I veri valori dell'Italia non sono credere in una determinata religione, non sono avere un colore specifico di pelle, non sono indossare uno specifico abbigliamento, ma sono *la libertà di culto, opinione, libertà di indossare quel che si vuole senza distinzione di sesso o razza*
