I'm from Evarts Ky.,I wanted to tell you both about me buying some Grippo Sprinkles for my Daughter and Son and Grandkids. We love it, especially on popcorn And hamburgers Going toward Evarts on 38, sure makes me lonesome. Meh Bailey sold alcohol out of that small window in her home. People would drive up to that window and tell her what they wanted. I remember since I was a kid. Those apartments should be Black Joe.Next town is Coxton, a pretty place.the next town on your right is Ages. We use to live there, in a hollow called Games Branch. It is so pretty up there. Next should be the Evarts Memorial Gardens. A lot of my family is buried there. The Dention Center, there use to be a Drive In Movie, a lot of fun. Verda, on your right, as very small kids our parents and us lived. ALOT of precious memories on these roads. I will always love Evarts. Sure enjoy your show. It brings back a lot of precious memories. Thank you, and GOD, Bless
Smacks super market was there as long as I can remember. It was a nice place, my parents shop there. We went to Evarts High School, which we loved very much.GOD, Bless you both.

Hello I'm Katina Bledsoe my husband was a coalminer in Harlan for 38years he passed away in 2017,3rd stage complicated blacklung his name was Johnny Bledsoe
Lived in Kildav. Many A time walked the trail along side the river to Evarts High School. In the 60's lunch was a blogna (blonny) sandwich , or hot dog, bag of chips & drink for a quarter.
My mother used to tell a story, about how the miners and the coal company had a big fight at the RR crossing as you first come into Evarts .that was the late 30s or early 40s I was a baby at the time. Harold Payne Thanks for the video!
Memories Memories! Dad is from Harlan county! As well as all my dad's side. Thank goodness they improved the road. Would like to see evarts ky. Lejunior ky. The road that leads from one of the counties into Black Diamond Virginia.

Thanks for the memories, Have not been down there since 2006 or 07. The road has been completely changed changed and of course the tunnels have been finished since we were there last. The bridge by Mack's has been rebuilt too. My wife is from there only she lived on up 38 at Closplint. Was hoping that y'all would drive up that way.. maybe another day..
We will definitely be driving up that way, closplint, Holmes Mill and the other communities all the way to the Virginia line. Keep watching we won't let you down.
As you passed by Ages, Mrs. Coyote commented that there is a community "over there", referring to the homes down in the bottom, across the Clover Fork, to her right. That community is known as Ages Bottom, it's where my mom grew up.
My mamaw and pap lived in Evarts. They moved there from Highsplint Coal Camp. They lived in Middleton Edition for a while too. We left Highsplint when I was 7. Working the coal mines is a hard way to make a living. Dad moved us. But we visited Evarts and Harlan often. I was born in Harlan.
Evarts has only one fast food restaurant, and that's Subway. Oh, and the store that used to be Save-a-Lot in Evarts is Family Dollar, where Subway's at, right next door.
SO BLESSED WHEN YOU POST VIDEO I LOVE ALL THE BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES MY HEART IS SO BLESSED THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EACH VIDEO I MISS DOWB HOME HOPE TO BE COMING HOME SOON
Junior Deaton had a store in Ages. I was a little kid at the time (late 60's/early 70's) but I believe it was located at the corner of 38 and Ages Creek Rd (on your left as you were taking this drive). It looks like the building the store was located in is now gone. I wonder if anyone remembers if this was the correct location of his store?
Yes, I Rem bee "Deaton's Store" Me and my Childern went there if we had money to by us a cold pop, out of the pop machine, it was so cold. Mr. Seaton, was kind. Yes, the store is gone. I believe a mobile home is there now
Really appreciate y'alls videos. Brings back memories of visiting my pa'paw , uncle's and aunt's. Haven't been back since my pa'paw passed. He's burried in between Pennington Gap Virginia and Harlan Kentucky. Will have to ask my momma what the cemetery is called!
We like to eat at the Gas station in Verda. @ 10:58 in the video is the place. Great burgers , grilled cheese with bacon and onion rings. Thanks for another great video.
I did some cruising on google maps and saw a McDonald’s bouncy house hooked up to the side door of someone’s two story residence. I studied it for awhile and it looked like a good idea for little kids. Keeps them off the highway.
My son thought of that, then he put the logo together he took a picture of a coyote and I think he got the flames if I remember right from a flamethrower, he even gave the coyote googly eyes if you look close. My wife doesn't like it, she says it should be breathing fire like a dragon instead of blowing it out of the other end. LOL
You didn't mention the "38 goat", a former interesting sight. on 38. He lived up on a rock ledge on the left just pretty soon as you start the drive on 38 towards Evarts. He was a BIG goat with wide horns-- He even had his own FaceBook page. He just vanished some time ago---no explanation. Do you know whatever happened to the "38 goat"?

Thanks Nick! Since that video we've had a couple of folks tell us we should do one on Ages so we're going to have to go up and check it out.
@@IgnitedCoyote That's great! I'll look forward to your video. Hopefully, you can drive up Gabe's Branch when you go check out Ages.

The hills off 38 look like great hiking areas😊

@@IgnitedCoyote You gave us some good tips.
I did some cruising on google maps and saw a McDonald’s bouncy house hooked up to the side door of someone’s two story residence. I studied it for awhile and it looked like a good idea for little kids. Keeps them off the highway.
I live in Coxton. The water was touching the bridge this last flood we had they actually closed it for about a hr that day.
I still can't believe we've had high water this year more than once!
The big field beside the jail was once a Drive-In
Yes clinic is open
The old L&N depot is still there, looking good too.
My father was born in Black Joe coal camp which was somewhere on that road.
If you looked down crossing the bridge you would’ve saw me fishing below save a lot😅
That cemetery would be evarts memorial gardens. My dad and grandma are resting on that hillside
that was goldenash
Yes you just went through golden ash eastbrook aprtms
Born and raised in le junior and kenvir, remember ,fullers the old thestor.noe live Texas.
Very nice! Can you drive up further to Louellen? My family lived there. Thank you
We're planning more videos up 38, hopefully all the way to the Virginia line, so keep watching.
Enjoy your videos im in lebanon ky and if you ever get time to do it, I would like to see a video of brookside.
Brookside sounds good we'll check it out, thanks for watching!
The house next to it used to be for sale, lol they made it a air bnb
Played a couple of games at the old Evarts high school on their football field. Not a lot of grass...ha ha.
Thanks for watching it Stan!
Hitting that dirt hurt!
My MIL/FIL were Herman and Nancy Haynes. They talked a lot about people named Blanton. They lived in Closplint.
@@debbiehaynes8295 We all lived in the Pathfork area. Had an Uncle that worked in the mines in that area.
@@stanblanton7798 just remembeted the lady's name was Louise Blanton. Thanks for the reply.
Nice to see my home community of Ages. Jr Deaton is my brother.
Always enjoyed Junior's articles in the newspaper, I miss them.
I'd like to see the old Magic Mart buildings in Harlan, Hazard, and Pikeville. I'm curious if they ever put anything in them.
The magic Mart building in Harlan has had a couple of businesses in it but it's currently vacant.
I love Harlan County. My second favorite next to Bell County
Our little corner of Kentucky Bell, Harlan, Knox, Whitley and Laurel is just about the best place I can think of living in.
@@IgnitedCoyote Truth
Thanks for another great video. By the way, how did you come up with the Ignited Coyote logo at the beginning of the videos?

Would u please do a video of evarts to Virginia going up thru shields. Haven't been that way in years.
Thanks! That's a great idea, be on the lookout for it.
I lived in Red Bud, Ky many years ago. Is it still there?
We checked it out on Google Earth and it looks like it's still there although the post office is closed it says.
The Parsons own Mack's in harlan
I've been there.

Wonder was there part of a road going to yancy that thay called deadmans curve that thay made a movie called thunder road 😀
I'll ask my brother about that he's a big thunder road fan he saw it in the theater when he's a kid.

This is the first I've heard of him, we'll have to do some research and see if we can find out what happened to him it would make a great video.
I remember him, but never knew what happened to him
You just passed dairy hut
I was looking at a house for sale on 38. What a coincidence 🤔
😮
I live in Coxton
Eastbrook is also known as Black Joe
Dairy hut and subway are about the only good places here in evarts
