- At 18, Eliyah Howard thinks he knows what it means to be a real man. He learned nearly everything from his abusive father. But family, love, and tragedy test the lessons he inherited. Is it too late for Eliyah to re-define what a man really is? This film was written by Angileece Williams from Cleveland, Ohio and directed by Malcolm D. Lee.
Lesson Plan: bit.ly/lifeplp
For 15 years, Scenarios has asked teens to share their realities, and they have responded with a raw and revealing constellation of voices of what it means to be a teenager today. Scenarios uses the incredible power of storytelling and filmmaking to create curricula the gives students the chance to speak out, be heard and lead on the issues that really matter to not only themselves but their communities. We start by bringing our REAL DEAL curriculum and films into middle school and high school classrooms. The curriculum engages students to think critically and creatively about the issues they face. And we say: Now Tell Us Your Story!

This should be series. I was feeling so many emotions. Finally a story that explores the inner thoughts of a man
Thank you Kevin, we think so too!
Feminazi propaganda!
Damn. No other movie has ever handled that particular manhood issue as well as this one. Had me in tears off and on throughout the movie. And I don't cry easily. Peace.
Thanks so much Victor. The film was written by a 15 year old girl in Cleveland OH who was inspired to write it when she saw a classmate climb on the school bus the day after his father died. When she asked him why he was coming to school his only response was "Nothin. I could do about it."
I fill sad for him
Scenarios USA did the classmate know she did this?
I cried too. Made me think of my older brothers.
He overcome circumstances from childhood now he can live and love
that's right!
When you fear someone you allow them to have power over you. A real man knows respect is earned even from his children, you have to earn their respect as well by being there when they need you. You have to show affection show them that you care or they'll end up angry at you angry at the world. Fathers don't run your household by fear run it by love.
Wow. What his father did to him was abuse. Respect is earned not demanded. Having someone fear u is not the same as respecting u. There's nothing wrong with a man crying. It can be a great release. Sometimes a person needs another to lean on,even the strongest person. Crying is not a sign of weakness. It takes inner strength to cry. Being a man is not "being hard". Part of being a man is to be the support system for another and sometimes, the man, needs the support of another. Crying is not weakness. Crying is freeing! Even for a man. Glad he freed himself of the abuse cycle.
We couldn't agree more!
This was excellent and the acting was superb!! Great message too.
This was by far one of the best scenarios I’ve seen
One of our favorites too!
All I can say is WOW!!!!
So many times females meet young men that have been taught they have to be hard to be a man and don't know how to express themselves. Sometimes we have to be patient with them and show them love so that they learn how to love....
Yes. Sooo True.
It's these Parents that are Traumatizing these Children/PpL.
...
The parents were often traumatized too. The father likely wasn't just born a monster. It's a vicious cycle. The cycle was fortunately broken with him.
I was just like him when I was a teenager........ for a long time.....
Thank God I’ve changed
wow did yall see the childs face, yall felt the hurt wow
His Father ruined him!
Yeah, fathers can do that. So can brothers, sisters, mothers and friends. On the other hand, if you can't get the love and support you need from one, perhaps you can find it in another?
kkain123 yep he did, and sadly he didn't t realize he was doing it.
Made his stronger as well. He realized its its okay to be vulnerable.
Yes, like so many...SO TYPICAL.
But , transcension-and REAL MANHOOD-IS possible, when we learn to LET GO and EMBRACE.
Superb movie.
So sad....it’s unfortunate because these are the types of guys to stay away from....
We have to break the cycle. Toxic masculinity creates a slew of problems. There’s nothing wrong with being emotional and showing love ❤️....we are humans that’s what we are supposed to do!
😓😓😓😓😓
This made me cry 😭😭
I wish I can be a actor for scenarious USA.. I love all the shows omg
Scenarios USA is the best! I've been following these films since I was in high school! I'm 30 now, and these films still teach lessons.
This was such a good movie wish it was longer this was a movie that showed that crying releases a lot of pain and I'm glad in the end he realized that crying does not make you any less of a man it makes you more of a man and I'm glad his girl was by his side through it all
Very true!
Beautiful. Simply, beautiful.
omg did yall here the acting on his breathing when he final cried, damn
Powerful story. This should be a full length movie.
When he cried I cried...for the same reason 🤔
This is why I love yall scenarios because yall always give a slice of life
Wonderfully dealt with and well acted. I found this so powerful...and the end so moving. We can only hope other such destructive childhoods can be caressed and weaned from the tragic inheritance of abusive parents/situations.
It can be really hard to find the support but if you look hard, most of us can find it.
Agreed. But (usually) one must want the change...and/or find the someone/reason to overcome the cemented beliefs.
Manhood more like trying to be hood and a badass, smh men do cry, I can relate cause of his dad
He low key fine asf
I&a Gang

This was a Good movie
Thought provoking, very touching and gets to the core root problem with so many young men coming of age and finding their place in life.
Thanks you so much!
Extremely powerful and touching. The acting was superb and the storyline great. Kudos to everyone who made this film. Had me tearing up.

VERY BEAUTIFUL STORY.
Thank you.
great talent great movie but so many people this is part of every day life thank you for the message in this movie one love
My God what a great story and such great actors. Totally awesome.
Thank you so much!
this had me in tears. i love this channel
Thanks so much Aquarius!
I cried not because of the story but because of the similarities between the character here and me. No I never was aggressive and such but I had similar living conditions in the end. I’ve recovered from a lot of trauma and I too rarely cry. Can I just say no matter what it’s fine to cry if someone makes your feel worse after tears it’s not normal and not meant to be. I’ve already seen enough to realize this despite being so young. I hope I’m able to help other people now
Thanks so much for sharing that, its so true!
Damn that was great! Glad it was on my suggested for you list.
Thanks so much!
This film had me emotional 😭💔.

He and and the woman that played his girlfriend are great actors. Very talented. All the actors in this were very good
This was a sad and emotional film, but it had a real message behind it like most of your films.
I can relate to a lot of your films.
I'm 55 years of age and have experienced different things through my life time that I've endowed alone
Thank you and continue to do what you're doing it's a Blessing
THank you so much W.T we'd love to know what you think of some of our other films too!
Scenarios USA I have watched some of your films that involves young ppl dealing with their sexuality again this has hit home with me, I'm a very private person.
Thanks to your channel and you tube I have been able to accept who I truly am more.
The problem is the time we live in today we all want to be accepted so we try to live for others instead of ourselves
I'm planning to make a donation to your channel, because I believe you are helping and making a difference in ppl lives
That's so sweet W.T but we aren't currently accepting donations.
Wow, great acting and a good message.
Another great movie!
Thanx!

I knew she was going to make this mistake.
What mistake?
This video should have had over 1 million views by now. #EXCELLENT
Thank you!
Amazing film! That can't be overstated! The music was great; it was so well-written... And Devon's performance was exceptionally stellar!!! I hope to see him go on to do even more great things. The amount talent, skill & hard work that went into this is remarkable...
And the topic is such an important & poignant one!
This absurd notion that emotions (ANY emotions) are a sign of weakness or a lack of masculinity is silly and ridiculous! Attempting to deny/supress emotions is rejecting one of the most precious and integral aspect of our humanity (along with our sentience & critical mind)! It makes absolutely no sense (and doesnt actually work anyway!); and it typically leads to a number of unhealthy, unsatisfying and even violent behaviors.
It is a man's actions (not emotions) that define his manhood & masculinity (or lack thereof); it is our emotions that defines our humanity and reminds us that we are alive!
No one should ever feel ashamed, guilty or weak because of the emotions s/he experiences... Emotions are a precious gift! USE them as a guide and as feedback; let them be a part of your process to measure and gauge the quality and effectiveness of your decisions.
Thanks so much DJJonPattrsn22 we couldn't say it better ourselves!

This episode was good 👍🏿
Thank you!
I want to cry 😭
That is the saddest thing!!…he feels like he has to hide his feelings and hold back his tears all because his unhealed abusive terrible daddy treated him like trash…smh 🤦🏽♀️ man this is so irksome! He being taken through this so that he can break down…he needs to release that pain… in tears. I hope he does break down and cry so that he can get better and heal, the rest he gone have to talk about with a counselor or therapist. His dad was probably a carbon copy of someone in his family, he learned to be angry and nasty and he put it on his son.
i wanna act for y’all these are so good omg 😭 do you guys ever have open auditions lol
Thanks but Scenarios unfortunately, stopped making films in 2017.
Scenarios USA why is that?

I am so sad
Why are you sad?
This made me sad
SO THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS WHY I SEE SO MANY SINGLE YOUNG MEN WHERE I LIVE!. THE YOUNG WOMEN HAVE MOVED ON GOT JOBS AND TRYING TO BETTER THEMSELVES. IT IS NOT THE CHILD'S FAULT IN ALL CASES. THE PARENTS PLAY A BIG ROLE IN HOW A CHILD THINKS, FEELS, AND ACTS!.
love this make more
