I had a 76 Malibu 2 door. Maroon with swivel bucket seats, 305 and auto with A/C. Loved that car. Had it till 1993 when a car pulled out in front of me and I T-boned it. Totaled both cars. It had almost 400,000 miles on it. Square headlights and all. Even had the 8-track 4 speaker stereo that lasted about 2 years. Really miss that car!
@@bradparris99 Nothing major. Minor whiplash and couple of broken ribs. Hit a 92 Grand Prix that ran a stop sign. Hit him at about 50mph. Had seat belt on. The first car I ever bought. Senior in high school. Got married and brought my first 2 kids home from hospital in that car. Thanks for the kind wishes!
@@kdksiren I had a 75 el camino in high school in 1978 and was that rare teenager that buckled up. In 1983 I was in a head on collision with a Cadillac and walked away with only bruises from the belts and a sprained wrist, far better than the unbelted other driver who had massive head and chest injuries from the steering wheel. It was a no-brainer to wear seat belts back then, but none of my friends did.
I miss my 1971 Chevy Malibu. Bubble hood top, 2 barrel engine, chrome front and back and lined on outside of the doors. No bucket seats. Had straight across seats from door to door (2 door car). Antenna built in the front wind shield. Put in one badass cassette deck (I am a cassette man still today). Now I drive a Chevy SIlverado truck (from 976-CREOLEMAN). Chevy SIlverado
@@floridaroadways I also had a second truck Ford F-150 1997. Sold it last summer. My SIlverado today is a 2015 1500. I only have 35,000 miles on it and runs great. There is nothing like having a truck (from 976-CREOLEMAN)!
This has the redesigned grill because for the 1974 model year Mercedes-Benz threatened to sue their asses off because it was a blatant copy of the classic Mercedes-Benz grill.
I wondered why 73 74 75 76 and 77 had different grills.. I have a 77 grill on my 75 Landau classic Malibu now but have a 75 original in a box and bought a 73 or 74 grill for it non s-3 because it has factory fog lamps in the grill round with chrome trim accents. That grill much heavier than the 77 original pot metal one. The 75 original is shiny and great shape but not as pretty on the car.
'74 was almost embarrassingly Benz-ripoff considering how dominant GM had been up to that time. But a new grille texture every year was the norm, a holdover from the era of more substantiall annual styling changes.
Sorry, never liked the opera windows on this body. I'd either have to go down to a base Malibu (with the triangular windows the Colonnade was always meant to have) or upgrade to a four door with its' glassy 6-window look.
one of the ugliest cars on the street during that time, thats for sure. but a decent car, nontheless and if you got the version with the smooth roofline and the big side windows it atleast looked okay.

Hope you were buckled up and not injured. They were great cars 🚗.

I was 15 years old in 1975 these commercials bring back memories Thanks for posting.
Had a 77 350 4 barrel best car I ever had
I was in high school. A good friend of mine had a brand new one his dad bought for him. Unfortunately he died in it in a wreck. He was 16.
sad It must been real hard on the dad
This is cool love the 75 malibu classic

My first vehicle was a 79 Silverado. It was 3 yrs old when I got it with around 17,000 miles. It was in great condition.

@@marcelmischeaux7256 I don’t like the new 4 cylinder Silverados that much but the V6 or V8 I like.
@@floridaroadways It's worth the money to have a V8 engine. Especially for a truck. Any truck (from 976-CREOLEMAN).
America needs to bring back the soothing car commercial voice guy maybe that's what's wrong today.🤣
Best car ever made by the general had 75 and quad headlight 76 350 2 barrel on both and 2 doors 1 green and 1 gold 👍
Me gusta el carro un Chevrolet Chevelle Malibú Classic; maravilloso; saludos.
wonderful car
There is no-fucking-way-in-hell you'll ever catch me on a Can-Am 3 wheeler. I'd rather drive a Malibu with radioactive aliens in the trunk.
The beginning of the end
Looked like Mr. Holmes was in a bit of a hurry!
More responsive performance? From a detuned and smogged 350? Not hardly
Better than the 74. Catalytic converters allowed more normal fuel/air ratios.
Where can I find a good one?
Those cars lost a lot of horsepower compared to the 70 Chevelle but still a good car. 75 had what about 150-180hp?
Why does an ad for a plane have a car in it?
I dunno, but it really made me what to buy a biplane!
with a more clean air ... Heille on s'en tape .
O I c y because they r classic. AWESOME LOOKING CARS .TODAYS CARS R SO PLASTIC.

Ever seen a late fifties / early sixties Studebaker grille? Looks a lot more like Mercedes than a ‘74 Malibu

The opera windows went with the vinyl top, which was an even sillier option, in my opinion.
Technological advancements. That is comical.
