  • View more at www.MathAndScience.com. In this lesson, you will learn what a histogram is and how histograms are used in data analysis and in statistics. A histogram is a special kind of bar chart. The main difference is that there are no spaces between the bars in the chart and the x-axis contains a range of numbers rather than text labels. A histogram is used to represent a frequency distribution of data, where each of the bins are the same width on the x-axis. It is used in statistics to show a large amount of data in a single figure.

    Thank you so much for the beautiful video, just to add, the main difference between the bar chart and the histogram is that the bar chart is for discrete data, while the histogram is for the continuous data, and both are numerical, either it is originally numerical or qualitative that we transformed to numerical 😊😊

    Thank you for the awesome and thorough explanation. I'm using histograms in a college research methods course. I did not realize that histograms are actually 6th grade level...lol
