Look good and nice to hear the CDBA getting a mention 👍👍
Going from Ontario to NY state on Tuesday to pick up a set for our 17 GSA. Did a lot of research into panniers and Bumot stood out for me. Looking forward to getting them. Good video. Thanks mates. Hello from Bridgenorth Ontario Canada by the way.
I have a set of Bumot Defenders. I love these things. They are durable, love love love the friction hinges and they worked great on my last trip up the west coast a couple weeks ago. HIGHLY recommend them.
best panniers we have tried so far!
These are great boxes...got them for my GSA after loads of searching around. Contacted Bumot directly and they were delivered from Bulgaria to Malta in 2 days flat with no additional shipping costs. Assen, who works there was definitely great help while I was ordering them
Great boxes and also a great customer service too. Winner all round really :)
Brilliant boys! Love the color. Looks like that’s what I’ll go with when I’ve saved enough money. Can’t beat the price that’s for sure!
No probs matey, they are fab and the colour is just right :)
I've been using the same set on my 2015 R1200GSA almost daily for 6 months, and I'm happy with them (although they are very noisy to close). However I'd REALLY recommend unscrewing the two hand fasteners for the middle/top box and putting a lot of anti-seize/thick grease on them (threads and everything exposed to water), because they will rust like crazy! Mine seized up almost completely before I realized. Also inside the middle/top box there are fasteners at the bottom that secure the mounting hardware underneath, on mine these were not water tight. So I put some gaffer tape over them (on the inside), seems to have solved the issue although it has hardly been any rain here for several months so we'll have to wait and see.
I have those panniers but not the top box; they’re brilliant and the inner bags aren’t expensive either. The sizes are actually 45 litre and 41litre capacity. Good video as always guys👍
Thanks Andrew, glad you enjoyed it and they are brilliant panniers. Gotta be the way to go :)
I have the same panniers too, except in the silver colour. They are superb quality, I had the same brand on my xt1200z for over 25k miles and they were faultless. I can recommend the liner bags as someone else suggested.
Fab stuff Garry, brilliant panniers and great to hear that someone has found them great after loads of miles too :)
Great video lads. I am taking delivery of a triple Black in two weeks, and you have convinced me to invest in the Bumot panniers and top box. Not sure I’m brave enough. Hopefully nobody will notice. I think it works out at £975.00 for the full set.
Quality at a good price will win out in the end. I hope that the Chinese don’t copy them badly.
Touratech are having issues at the moment with their business in Europe, and you can’t help thinking that some of their stuff is exclusively priced and not competitively. There are some real good accessories for the GSA’s at the moment.
These boxes from Bumot are going to be a great addition to the bike. Thanks for the heads up fellas.
John Wright they are brilliant honest. You will not be disappointed.
Hey John, thanks for the kind words and glad you enjoyed the review. Definately a great addition to the Gs and gsa. Great price too in comparison 👍
Great review of alternative product - looks great and how good does the bike look in that colour scheme!!!!
thanks for the kind words Gary, makes the bike look fab. With the black, it goes with anything and sets the bike colours off too. If you had a triple black, it would be stealthy!
Nice new bike by the way!!
I thank you Andy.
A great review once again. Have you noticed similar issues with the black Bumot panniers getting scratched as you had with the Bmw panniers?
nope, they have held up really well and not gone mottled like the BMW ones at all
Great product and video guys. Not convinced that they would serve as a bbq tray... may get a smell of melting rubber seals!😉
Hahha. But it would be fun to have a bbq at the side of the road. 😂
I’m in the market for some panniers for my GS and I’ve heard the locks on these Bumot boxes are poor in that they corrode quickly and seize. Also that if you buy the Bumot mounting frames, the nuts and bolts corrode quickly ie inside of a year. This has put me off them to be honest so I am going to have a close look at the Givi ones.
not had any issues as yet and we have travelled thousands of miles in different weather, live by the sea too and no issues. hope this helps
How are these panniers standing up now you've been using them for a while, any issues, are they water tight, do they mark easily.
Cheers Glenn.
What a load of old faff, great looking boxes though reckon I’ll be getting rid of the vairo panniers
By the way GSA RALLYE looks great 👍
If I toured regularly they would be my choice, I use the varios on my standard GS with the new Wunderlich racks on top which allow you to strap on bags on top. Matched with a Givi 46l dolomiti trekker top box, plenty of room for solo touring...
Chucky , I have those wunderlich racks on my vario panniers ! And I can still filter through traffic !
They of course work for some although I found you lose quite a lot of space on the vario panniers with the mechanism and for some packing the helmet away is an issue. But good panniers nonetheless
Great option. Is that really Cornwall weather ? Thanks for the rundown.
Russell Locke yes it really is Cornish weather... Shhhh!
Well I’ve eventually moved up to the GSA, March delivery of 1250 Exclusive, it looks like the Bumots are the ones I’m going for...thanks.
fab matey, the Bumot are great additions too. ride safe and enjoy
RiderCamTV Made for the brave😂
Hi. Thanks a lot for your two videos about the bumot panniers.
After this full year, are you still happy with them? Anything that didn't work right?
I don't know if you have seen the new series, the defender Evo, just if you had any comment about them.
Best regards.
Juan Carlos Alonso Lafuente hiya! The panniers are awesome and are going strong. Ride safe.
@@markholroyd3233 thanks a lot
I just bought a new bike (same as yours) with top box and panniers... I almost wish I watched this video few days ago. On the other note, how those locks compare to the locks on BMW panniers?
they are fabulous boxed. the locks are a little more cumbersome than the BMW panniers although they are much sturdier and clamp down extremely well. no issues there :)
Like all the videos,Waiting to pick up the same bike this week,I like those panniers.how much compared to bmw's
James Wenzel they were just over £800
Thank you is that for all three or just the side cases.
James Wenzel all three cases.
They look great, but don't they turn the GSA into a sail boat? How does it handle loaded and on windy day? BTW Great video as usual! Cheers from Montreal!
I don't notice them, the bike is very stable either with or without. Came home from several hours riding at 130-150 kph in 15 meter per second gusts yesterday, I was a bit sore from the buffeting but the bike with the Bumots was absolutely solid.
Very stable and no different to the bmw ones to be honest in riding
Any idea if they do them for an RT (back box?) ....I know, I'll checkout their website lol
Not sure but they do them for a whole host of different bikes. If they do a mounting plate for the RT then a bumpy would be a fab addition to the bike :)
Great video, I can see why you like them. However, I’ll stick with the varios thank you ,... they make filtering a piece of cake. Have adjustable capacity, and one key for the whole bike! I
n the U.K, traffic is grim, so "fast filtering" is key to the enjoyment of biking ( to get to the "biking roads" ) imho.
I leave mine off when commuting, perhaps traffic is even worse in Sweden ;)
You can filter with them on as well
@@RiderCamTV Yes, but how wide are these panniers? Are they wider than the handlebars which would be wider than around 35.5 inches? Anything wider than the handlebars is going to mean less filtering. These bikes are already wide enough that I won't be adding panniers that make them wider. So far the only option I've seen that are 35.5" or less are the Varios and the Globe Scouts but the Globe Scouts are not quick release. Looks like I will be going with the Varios.
Seems weird seeing a big Union Jack on the back of a BMW :-)
Are they wider than the bike?
I'm looking for a set of panniers for my GSA, was thinking Givi but you need different rails so these could be an option.
Problem is for me I don't want something too wide so I'd be interested if you could do a close up video with dimensions on the bike please.
Thanks JJ 👍
The33JAYJAY hiya they are actually not as wide as the BMW panniers.
I don't know why but nobody ever measures the installed width of the panniers. All these different reviews of the different pannier systems and nobody cares how wide they are on the bike? Maybe most countries don't allow lane filtering?
Brooks panniers get good reviews also, not sure how price compares.
Eric Stephenson they are awesome and have a lifetime guarantee...
Mark, did you get a new rally bmw'r?
Hi Frank, yes I did. Its my fifth GSA.
I wanted to buy the bags, the pannier racks and the box (later also the trio of rigid suitcases) for the africa twin 1100 adventure sports 2021 but despite the emails sent I did not understand the difference between the two shades of gray because they replied to consult the site . I think for them to sell or not to sell is the same thing. Too bad because I wanted to buy their products but I will have to look elsewhere.
P.S. For example, they could propose to send me pieces of waste from the processing to see the colors well (I would obviously have paid to have the pieces of waste)
Are the panniers wider than the bike? I think there are three sizes, either 45/41Ltr or 40/36Ltr or 35/31Ltr. Are they all wider than the bike?
very slightly but only about an inch if that, so nothing too much to worry about...
@@RiderCamTV Thank you and keep posting. Love your channel.
Superb vid. By the way the text that shows your script when your talking at one point says that you have thin panties 😂 oh and they're not panniers. They're Punyas 😂😂
Good vid though
Thanks for the kind words mate :)
Superb punyas. Hehehe
RiderCamTV I do thoroughly enjoy your vlogs, I ride a Trophy Se soon going to change your views are educational and informative to my next bike
A script? In our dreams... We are not that organised... We do all our vids completely off the cuff. Not professional I know but we do have a laugh.
Script or not it's bloody brilliant
Thanks :)
Kind of buffed out Toby.
