Saying Kat is better defender than Rudy, now that's cap. The difference is when KAT guarding Joker, there's Rudy around who's gonna help him, and Joker will have to mind his presence if he want to attack that the rim. On the flip side, when Rudy guarding Joker, KAT is nowhere around or strong enough presence as backup for Joker to mind him.

KAT is a worse overall defender, but he’s a better 1v1 post defender. Rudy is the best in the world at the team concept of drop and funnel. His counter footwork is too slow, his center of gravity is too high, and his lower base isnt strong enough

KAT stepping up like he did allowed Rudy to do what he does best and shut down the paint completely, that Joker/AG lob was always there in G5 and totally gone last game because of it. 36 paint points for Denver vs 63 in game 5. Finchy decided to let game 5 go once Joker was rockin on Rudy to change it up in gm6, great adjustment that he held back.
Rodman famously wouldn't guard Hakeem in the '95 series because he wanted to sit around and pad his rebounds and throw hissy fits during the game which got Admiral worked on instead, allow a worse defender (Post detroit rodman) be the point of attack and let your best defender help (Robinson) when going against a guy who has his shit rollin. Big Ben also got smoked by Shaq and Timmy when asked to guard them himself but when he was the help for Sheed (who was a better post defender imo) or Dice Detroit succeeded. Hakeem got his ass handed to him by McHale too but Sampsons help.
Tim Duncan locked up prime Shaq in the '02 series, straight up punked him but lost the series because the paint was wide open for Kobe & Co to do whatever since Admiral was out with injuries and next "big" was malik rose taking the off minutes.

I really enjoy Dray's analysis of the game. I think his disdain for Gobert clouds his thoughts a bit. As a defensive anchor, Dray should know the importance of scheming and using your best defender in a free safety kind of role. Gobert's best spot on defense right now is to prevent Jokic from making those lob passes to AG and also work as backup just in case Jokic beats Towns or Reid off the dribble.

That’s just the math. 82% is still quite a bit more than 75%. But for reason people seem to think it’s 82% vs 50% and that makes the stat a lot more impressive in their minds.

It’s easy….if Murray has a good game, Denver wins easily. If he struggles, Denver gets blown out. It has nothing to do with Minnesota. They are not a great scoring team and their defense is only great when the other team is missing open shots so they can start swarming. Edward is going to get his 25 to 30 and Kat is probably going to get his 20 to 25, then everyone else is going to get 6 to 12.
Denver lacks outside shooters who can get their own shots. KCP is a spot up shooter and Porter has to be wide-open or he’s gonna throw up bricks. Gordon is going to shoot as well as the team is playing. The lob doesn’t happen unless the outside shooting is good enough to keep the defense honest. Jokic is the only consistent one no matter how the game is going but Minnesota is the one team that can give him enough trouble that he has bad scoring games when he’s really trying.
Draymond flat out hates Gobert and anything he says about him should be disregarded.
