The buildup was immense tbh, but then the movie came and it felt like it was for nothing. Saddening ;-;
Fun Fact: The director confirmed that this movie is basically going to be the exact movie that Andy saw in theaters which made him want the toy version in the first place.
So its going to end with Andy saying "Mom I want a lightyear action figure for my birthday".

I sort of hope not. Digging the more serious artstyle with potential for a more mature story. The original star command cartoon was a bit too... well... cartoony.
In the first toy story, when buzz is repairing his ship, he asks woody if they have discovered “crystallic fusion yet”. That is exactly what powers the jet that buzz flies in the trailer. I love the attention to detail

One of the main things that struck me when first watching this trailer was how "grown up" it feels compared to most Disney/Pixar trailers, which are marketed primarily towards children... so they defo know that the majority of the Toy Story fanbase are now in their 20s/30s lol

It's supposed to be the movie that the Buzz toy is based on (in-universe, of course) but it doesn't feel like a movie that a kid in the 90s would grow up with. It should've had some retro Sci Fi vibes but it feels more like a modern Interstellar kinda film but without the magic that Interstellar had

@@venomsnake9975 That's not the worst of it. People thought Disney shoved political propaganda into Lightyear. Take Chris Evans' casting, for example. They thought Tim Allen was replaced by Evans due to him being a conservative (which isn't true at all).
There was also a massive outrage over the LGBTQ+ kiss included, which I'd say effected the box office numbers the most.
It's a shame Lightyear failed to measure up to the success of the other Toy Story films (both critically and financially).
@@venomsnake9975 No. It tries extremely hard to be Interstellar while staying a children's movie, and it fails. The plot is simplistic and highly unoriginal. People simply wanted it to be good (like most Pixar movies), and it kinda wasn't. It's a shame because it did have some original and genuinely interesting elements, but overall it ended up being a normal kids animated movie, that lacked the studio's mark and will be forgotten fast.

I love how dark and unsaturated the colors are in this trailer. It looks like despite the main character being Buzz that this animated movie may be more directed towards adults (kinda like soul). Not that it won’t be a family friendly movie but that it will have more adult themes. Plus when I think of space I think of curiosity and wonder but I also think of dread and loneliness so I wonder what topics they’ll hit in this movie.

I once had a Buzz Lightyear toy as a kid. That was in the late 90's. Whenever I played with it, I wondered what kind of backstory this astronaut has. He surely wasn't born into his spacesuit. He probably had a life outside it. He likely had a home, a family, and friends. I was curious what series of events made him the astronaut we know. 20 years later, I'm finally getting an answer.

I agree. I really loved the first maybe 40 minutes of the movie but I think it went downhill when Buzz returned and was found by Hawthorne's daughter. I absolutely hated all characters Buzz met after that. The "trying to be funny and screw everything up" kind of characters and at the end of the movie he's like "hell yeah I want these guys to be on my team" like bruh. 90% of the time they screwed up everything.
And I was also disappointed that Buzz got his iconic suit at the end of the movie so we didn't see it in action like I hoped we would.
One more minor thing that disappointed me was Zurg. I know it was Star Wars reference in Toy Story 2 but Zurg said he's Buzz's father which was not the case in the movie.

@@LiMeiLuv so very bland, his character almost wasn’t even a character, and the story was like an Interstellar for babies who havnt seen Interstellar.
Also the teaser was just super cool and the awesome music was playing throughout the whole thing, unlike the movie

When I first watched this trailer, I was excited beyond belief, the idea of a buzz light year movie was just so amazing to me, and then the movie came out. In truth, I don’t think anybody was truly mad, just disappointed with what the end product was, especially because there was way better plot points they could’ve used that wasn’t “I’m you from the future” such as… “Buzz… I am your father” like we all wanted.

I feel like everyone’s thinking this is a backstory of a “real person” in the toy story universe, but forgetting that we have random toys with WILD fake backstories, and toys based off of movies in real life. This being in the Toy Story universe could literally mean that it’s a fictional movie IN the universe, as in the movie itself is a movie Andy would have watched as a kid, that ended up having toys made so his mom got him one cause he liked it so much.
Someone said this is how they should see it! This is the movie that made Andy want to get buzz, and it's absolutely wholesome that I can't even handle it

This is exactly how people shold view it. Someone else made the comparison to a kid watching an ironman movie in real life. Ironman isn't real. He is a fictional character in the real world universe. In the Toy Story Universe, Buzz Lightyear would be Andy's ironman.
