I will NEVER EVVER EVVER EVVVVVER forget the girl in front of us saying, "Oh Jerry" & balling her eyes out while he's singing this. If Im not mistaken, it was when he said "Lord". Almost like he was speaking of his own life and he knew he didn't have long...........😞

M Anzuoni i would give anything in the world to have seen him play just once. to think that i never will is earth shattering. keep those memories close to your heart my friend.
@@stephanlarsen8169 he really was, always felt like he was singing to you personally and his playing was absolutely genius- im starting to really feel the effects of too many nights next to Jerry’s speakers - can’t hear
I still have my ticket stub for this "Last Show". Jerry Garcia walked down the stage left stairs from the stage by himself and said goodbye to all us kids in the right field Phil Zone after the July 4th fireworks show had combusted. Jerry then walked down the staircase stage left, holding his briefcase in his left hand, while waving his ®ight hand side to side, then he vanished and turned 90 degrees right, into the backstage area for his exit to his room. That moment in time was my last goodbye this wonderful man.
Was there as well...as well as Deer Creek with the stage/fence rushes, Riverport and the campground collapse. And then Jerry being a shell during the shows...
Welp, Garcia and Hunter are together again if you believe in that sort of thing. I'm not sure I do, but I am certain of the fact that the two of them changed my life.
I’m 22 years old but I’m grateful for the fact this music was shared and still holds the magic perfectly still in time . Thanks jerry ✌️ hope your sitting back easy Jim

I cried real tears (again, as I did 20 years ago) when I watched this yesterday. My son asked my why I was crying and I said just look at this wonderful sad broken man. And here I go again.
I'm 18 and I cry every time. this song, the grateful dead, all of it. I have fond memories of weir and Lesh, but jerry Garcia... gave me hope. every word of this song drips meaning like a broken gutter during a monsoon. means so much to me. they were there when others weren't and to that, I say, thank you jerry Garcia, for so much. may you rest in peace.
I was lucky enough to of been at this show. Miss Jerry so much its been 20 years and im just not missing Jerry, My rother Kevin passed last year on 8-9-14 Rest In Paradise Both of you
Miss and love you Jerry thank you so very much for always bringing love and light into my life really dont know where id be without The Dead .ForeverGrateful 💙❤
I still remember this concert. I was lucky enough to get to go in two nights in a row, to the Jerry's last 2 concerts in Chicago. It puts a smile on my face just remembering it.
Jerry was a candle light where all are dim but one is bright. I may never have seen Jerry but I'm grateful to be alive in a time when I can listen to the Dead
Such a great tune...miss the opportunity to hear real live inspiring music that is sweet and nurturing to my soul...Thank you Jerry, Thank you so very much!
@@dutchdragon443 check out if you havent already Dark Star Orchestra. they are really great and i have been told the closest youll get to the real thing. jeff matson has played wolf and tiger a few times even too.
This. Makes my heart sing and cry out because I miss him so much. I think this is the best recording of this song. I don't think I will ever get over his death. I will miss him for the rest of my life.
So crazy. I can get that hollow feeling all over again when I think of Jerry being gone. Same thing happens somewhat when I think of Lennon- not many others. A feeling beyond words.
I was a guitar teacher in Chicago from 1991-2013. My girlfriend and I partied in the Soldier Field parking lot during both shows. We couldn't afford to go inside for the shows. During the last show, Richelle and I sat right next to the main entrance in the grass and listened to the show. We could hear the music very well. I think the fans knew that Jerry was in pretty bad shape. After the show...Jimi Hendrix's Woodstock performance was played super loud through the P.A. system as huge fireworks were lit off inside Soldier Field during the whole song. The fireworks shot out of the stadium...as if to mark the "end" of Jerry's life...
He knew it was his last show he wanted to say goodbye. In a dead article I read that in late June Steve parish said “Cmon Jerry you’ll outlive all of us.” Jerry replied “I won’t make it to the end of the year.” God damn it makes me tear up. You really don’t understand how much I wish I could’ve seen the dead with jerry. Too bad I’m only 14 😞
Sometimes I think I’ve moved on and then the music brings it back and my heart shatters. This video is one of those times. spinning under Phil zone. NFA
Best song that night Watched Jerry and Vince walk off the stage on a ramp and he waved to the people waiting there after the fireworks. He had a hand up waving as he walked away into the tunnel at the end of the ramp.
We need to remember how blessed we all were to have heard Jerry play. Im sad he is gone . I will miss him untill i die. And yet, i am so thankful that of all the Time I could have walked this earth, i was here at the same time he was. He gave me so much joy.
Crying. So much I learned on so many roads to see the dead. I was just a boy. By 18 he was gone. God bless the Grateful Dead. We all are a part of something very special.
I was lucky enough to catch about 18 shows spanning from 93 - 95. This band changed my life and I know their music inside out / upside down. This is a pretty damn good So Many Roads IMO. I was got lucky in life and I was able to catch one of these bad boys in my day. ( possibly more. It was a long time ago ) Oakland, December 93. Scarlet - Fire / Estimated - So Many Roads.
Nick Orr this is my favorite "so many roads" something about it ( other than the last) especially when he sings" Lord????...so many Roads, to ease my soul. So many roads. I'v been walking down them roads"! I will see you down 1 of them roads Jer!

This video has a special significance for me at the 10.03 mark when it displays a white picket fence in front of people's homes, because that is MY house! I LIVE THERE! No really, I do!
This kills me still. I was mutual friend with Jerry. I got him to do this song. I kind of new the end was near. It still hit me like a ton of bricks. I cry every time I hear this. Robert hunter wrote it about Jerry for Jerry.
The last 'Black Muddy River' and 'So Many Roads" really rip my heart out. Jerry in the last few years was struggling through it. This was last time Jerry played was Solders Field in 93.
It is so hard to watch this. It's said that 2 months prior, a limo driver laughingly said "C'mon Jer, you'll outlive all of us". "I won't see the end of the year" replied Jerry. Here, 2 months before his 53rd birthday, he looks 73. Years of heroin, cocaine, cigarettes , bad food, no rest and the road have certainly taken a huge toll.
It’s hard to listen to this beautiful song without tearing up. He was feeling it and so do I. Thank you, Jerry.
Amen to this! He definitely pours his heart and soul into this.
