Many artists who make anime intros in Japan are insanely popular, even more popular than babymetal is. And they also perform in front of 10s of thousands of people at arenas as well. Look at Yoasobi for example, they did a tour last year where they had multiple arena shows for 130,000 people total.

Nice reaction. Babymetal did a mix of cultural songs for their Metal Galaxy album. Checkout Night Night Burn for a Latin flavor and metal. Or Shanti Shanti Shanti for that Bollywood feel. Babymetal toured these places and wanted to show so love to the people who should them love while on tour. Check out BMC for the American influence on a song that shacks the roof when they do it Live. Totally look up the lyrics on a Babymetal song. For deep dives into their song lyrics check out Prof AJ Hartley's youtube channel. It's all in English but he goes into the translations of the songs and their possible meanings. However, as he will point out that their songs are written in a way to allow the listener the freedom of their own interpretation. For their song Monochrome Su was surprised by the deep meaning the fans had of the song. While she had a much lighter interpretation. While both are valid interpretations. That is some Babymetal magic. Like when Su starts to sing on this song. The whole feeling of the song changes. Now you have to see them perform this live at Download. The Foxhole is deep and full of surprises.

Welcome & Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 BABYMETAL is the best musical phenomenon I have ever experienced in my 68-year-long life. (Before BM, I was a stubborn jazz / funk lover). Please explore BM more.
We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Actually There are no anime connections at all to this band (as far as i am aware anyway).
They created a new music genre called 'kawaii-metal', though they are not just kawaii-metal. Labelling this band as being 'just' anything is folly.
There's a lot to this band that defies initial assumptions. They are like organised chaos, they are multiple things at once. Very unique and dynamic.
It's possible you can get 2 videos after each other that are similar, but it's more likely you will get 2 that are wildy different.
Their music ranges from full on death metal to J-pop infused metal, thought on the whole it still leans more towards metal.
Oh and you haven't seen ANYTHING until you have seen some of their epic live performances. It's what they are about.
Road of resistance live is a start.💣💥🤘🤘🤘

There are quite a few connections between Babymetal and anime. Su's former group was made for anime; their first concert outside Japan was at an anime festival; one of their first covers was a song about, "I wanna watch anime with you." They also do the theme for the cartoon (though not an anime, per se) Unikitty. (It's about 30 seconds long so it's nothing major) Moa supposedly said in an interview that she wanted to do anime voice acting.

BABYMETAL's lead singer Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) sang songs for an anime series in 2008 when she was 10 years old.
That's when she was the youngest member of the J-Pop trio Karen Girl's.
There have been no BABYMETAL songs used in anime since the group began back in 2010.
I'm sure they've been approached, but felt it was more important to establish their credibility in the metal world.
That's why they've performed at so many metal festivals.
And why people like Rob Zombie, Rob Halford, Alissa White-Gluz, Matt Heafy, Dave Mustaine, Joakim Brodén, Corey Taylor, Jonathan Davis, Oliver Sykes, ChThoniC, the guys from DragonForce, Metallica, etc., are all BABYMETAL fans.

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal journey.🦊🤘🔥
Got some bad news for you, the voices you don't like in the beginning is what makes BabyMetal, BabyMetal or one of the important ingredients for this new genre, otherwise it would be just another metal song with a great Jpop singer. Bare with me bc they're here during early era mainly when they were super young and right now with the new album you won't hear this type of chorus, only with certain songs when playing live which btw last weekend they played this song at the Okinawa Convenient Center for the first time in the land of Karate founder Gichin Funakoshi sensei, live shows were called "Legend 43", ossu! 🦊🤘🥋
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute, hence the voices of the girls) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
    They are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 25.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24.
-YuiMetal- scream and dance, former member since 2018.
*MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 20 and is the new official member since April 1st last year.
    None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.
    About this song:
"Karate" is one of their stronger weapons along with "Road Of Resistance" from 2nd album "Metal Resistance" released in 2016. It's an uplifting song about keep fighting besides the obstacles, and if you take a closer look at the end you'll see in the eyes of their rivals that they're fighting against no other than themselves.
Don't worry, some fans also find anime vibes on BabyMetal songs, the only other song I could find with anime vibes besides this one and "Divine Attack - Shingeki", is "Syncopation" another banger.
They watched several footage before making this song, one of those were "Karate Kid" old movie, that's why you see MoaMetal catching a bug, that's a reference to the movie, after this she become the bug catcher expert when traveling on live tour lol. The bats and the concrete blocks testing strength is another infamous Karate reference.
Btw just in case, the band playing behind in this MV are hired actors, they got their own set of musicians when performing live called Kami Band, they're not always the same musicians but currently this year they've been playing with a westerners band unlike early era after 2012 when they had a Japanese band.
If you enjoy and like this song then another nice recommendation to witness a different and unique version is Karate live at Download Festival 2016, is even more epic with the rain and the crowd singing along with them, trust me. You can find a clip safe to react at "kitsune6001" channel with a short interview in the intro, also you will get your answer what the crowd and fans are doing when they're singing this song.
If you really aren't into the voice of the girls but you like the lead singer then you can enjoy some of their four solos, that'll be my next suggestion:
    - Akatsuki live at Budokan 2014, and no it's not related to any anime shows, in general they're not related to any of it.
I'm gonna leave in my next comment where to get clips safe to react if YT allows me to do it.
Thanks for sharing this and see you next time. 🦊🤘🔥

Here's the list of live performance clips usually safe to reacts without any filters so you won't need to rely on live compilations, there might be some exceptions:

      czcams.com/video/Ro-_cbfdrYE/video.html
      - Rondo Of Nightmare, with Mischiefs Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, another SuMetal solo but way different than usual happy songs.
      czcams.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/video.html
      - Doki Doki Morning, official MV, their very first song and MV full of kawaiiness, usually is safe to react so try it, if you want a live performance, this is the first proshot version with the Kami Band live at Legend 1999 (YuiMetal and MoaMetal 14th birthday).
      czcams.com/video/BSjv9OYtWZ0/video.html
      - Uki Uki Midnight, this one is a follow up to Doki Doki Morning but way different sound, this is the PV, is super fun but the sound isn't so great but at least is live.
      czcams.com/video/Yj-UQIlqsIQ/video.html
If you want better sound with the Kami Band, then live at Budokan 2014 it is.
      czcams.com/video/ESzY9dL613Q/video.html
      - Onedari Daisakusen, live at Legend 1997, this is a Black Babymetal song, is a subgroup with only YuiMetal and MoaMetal.
      czcams.com/video/1dT1ywYR5So/video.html
      - Iine! again official MV hits way better but if you want live, here live at Budokan 2014.
      czcams.com/video/5sCvYVNeD0w/video.html
      - Karate live at Download Festival 2016, "kitsune6001" got this with a short interview intro.
      czcams.com/video/FKOL6v3Md2c/video.html
      - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official live MV, be careful with the blocked by putting some filters just in case.
      czcams.com/video/zTEYUFgLveY/video.htmlsi=GHjAqEdHM0gUDRk7
      - Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai - Answer For Animation With You, live at Budokan 2014, not sure if it's still safe, so try some filters, if is audio blocked try to mute or just cut the parts.
      czcams.com/video/M8FKumvh-w8/video.html
Here's a song you can find at Babymetal Reactor Resource (BMRR), a helpful place to get watermarked logo clips of the original live version to curve the annoying algo.
      - GJ! live at Wembley Arena 2016, another Black Babymetal song.

This is BMRR short vid to follow instructions and get the spreadsheet with the full list.

    Anime - No.
WWE wrestling opener song - Yes, 2016.
Video Games - Yes (Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, a Borderlands spinoff).
They are THE most internationally successful Japanese band, and have 9+ years of world tours under their belts.
Their music will range widely, from fun goofy song about Chocolate to epically insane power metal anthems, or dark and gloomy death metal, or something so prog it rivals Dream Theater.
They’ve done collabs with Bring Me the Horizon, Dragonforce, Polyphia, Sabaton, Tom Morello, and others.

Good reaction and welcome to the wonderful world of happy metal that is BABYMETAL! 🤘🦊🤘
While Babymetal has no direct links to any anime, they did record the opening theme to Cartoon Network's "Unikitty" series and lead vocalist Suzuka was a member of the trio Karen Girls that recorded songs for the anime "Zattaii Karen Children" when she was 10/11 years old.
After the series ended and Karen Girls was disbanded, I believe all three girls became founding members of Sakura Gakuin, the school-themed Idol group designed to teach school-aged girls all aspects of the entertainment industry with the goal that the girls would go on in whatever direction suited them after graduation at age 15.
Babymetal started as a sub-unit of SG built around Suzuka's vocal talents and stage presence and became a separate, independent group when she graduated in 2013. 11 years later, they are still going strong as one of the best live acts in the world. Earlier this year, Suzuka was voted best female metal vocalist in an online poll, taking 71.3% of the votes. She was followed by Floor Jansen who took 10% of the votes.
Speaking of Sakura Gakuin, if you watched Netflix's Alice in Borderland series, you will have seen another founding member and graduate of SG, Ayaka Miyoshi who played Ann.

Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Download, Sonisphere, Glastonbury, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album last year and they just finished a world tour where they had many shows here in the US. They also recently released a new music video for their song called "Metali" that features Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello. 🤘🦊🤘

    👍 👍
Here is some information if you decide you want to explore the best LIVE band on the planet.
BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old. All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents.
Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
In the beginning Amuse showed little interest and the girls had minimal financing. They performed at strip malls and small venues borrowing clothes for shows from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack.
They quickly became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues).
Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).
If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to HQ pro shot videos of LIVE performances instead of official MV's (the reason is that the vast majority of MV's use studio audio over LIVE footage AND without the awesome Kami Band instrumentals)
They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Dragonforce, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics
not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)
Yui Mizuno left BabyMetal in 2018 due to health reasons and at their concert in Yokohama on April 1, 2023 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019 after Yui's departure) has officially become the third member.
Their new album in my opinion that released March 24, 2023 is amazing with so many different styles.
Good luck and hope to see you again soon.

If you already know, I'm sorry if this comment overlaps with other people's comments. They are a Japanese "metal dance unit". They have been active since 2010, and initially started as one of the derivatives of "idols". However, they became a hot topic overseas early on, with people saying "I don't really know what they're doing, but there's a great band". Then in 2014, they performed the "Snisofia Miracle". If you're interested, please look more deeply into BABYMETAL's history and songs. Their live performances in Japan are particularly impressive. I would like you to see their performance, the quality of their support members, and the enthusiasm of the audience. I recommend "catch if you can" and "monochrome". The former is basically from the past. The latter is relatively recent. Both are great performances for that era and age. And I would also like you to see "monochrome" by THE FIRSTTAKE. You can see the true value of the main vocalist SU-METAL.

Although the idea is to react to a new band, I think that before listening to the song of said band, they should know about the band, the trajectory, the genre that in its name is divided into metal and baby, they will find that it is a band of kawaii metal, a new subgenre, and that within metal and rock has been well accepted by great bands and having great collaborations, those who speak Japanese should not be quickly associated with anime, this is a little racist, it is like thinking that In my case, I am Latin, everything must have reggaeton. It's okay to react to a song, but having a history of the band reacting, I don't know if they've been reacting a little or a long time, but improve that, don't be one of those who open a channel and say diarrhea, for not doing a little research.

You guys are going to need to react to more Babymetal. You were going on and on about the different sounds different cultures make, and then you mentioned about mixing a little of this with a little of that. THAT is EXACTLY what Babymetal loves to do. They'll mix a little latin with their metal, Indian, Egyptian, Rap, and many other different styles and mix them with their metal music, fusing it all together and creating something wonderful. Keep going, I think you're going to like them as no two song sounds the same.

Babymetal was formed in 2010 and created a new sub-genre of Heavy Metal called "Kawaii Metal", meaning "Cute Metal". Their music style started as a mixture of J-Pop and Heavy Metal. But they have expanded to mix any genre they want with Metal such as Ska-metal, Trap-Metal, Dance-Metal. They also has explored other sub-genres of Heavy Metal such as Trash Metal, Death Metal, Rap Metal. Basically, Babymetal is a genre themselves. Babymetal has (so far) never associated or made a song for an anime (although I'm not opposed to it).
Babymetal only consist of 3 ladies. They have a backing band called 'Kami Band'. A group of session musicians hired to play for their live performances only. Babymetal is one of the biggest artist in Japan right now and can easily fill a 20,000 capacity Arena. Their biggest ever show was at Tokyo Dome 2016 with 55,000 people for 2 nights in a row. They are definitely better live and their live shows are not just a concert, it's an experience.
Babymetal version of the 'Rabbit-Hole' is called the 'Fox-Hole'🦊. Should you wish to dive in, here are some suggestion:
Babymetal - 'BxMxC (pronounced BMC) Live at Budokan 2021. (from 3rd Album: Metal Galaxy)
Babymetal - 'Yava!' Live at "Big Fox Festival" 2017. (from 2nd Album: Metal Resistance)
Babymetal - 'Catch Me If You Can' Live at Budokan 2014. (from 1st Album: BABYMETAL)
Babymetal - 'Headbanger' Live at "Legend 1997" 2013. (from 1st Album: BABYMETAL)
Babymetal - 'Monochrome' Live at PIA Arena 2023. (from 1st Concept Album: The Other One)

Nice intro to Babymetal, the lyrics always give a deeper meaning to the song. Not anime, do not need it, they are their own thing. Please react to a live video (not compilation) with the Kami (east) band, and with captions would be best. Great explanation on your own perspective of music that you know (east vs. west), not being judgmental, high respect to you! (Many others hear one song and dismiss it, not even given a chance). Babymetal has evolved, lots of different genres depending on which "era" it comes from (early kawaii, heavier, ballad, etc.)

A lot of people make the connection with anime due to the fact that anime is most people's main exposure to the Japanese language and to Japanese song writing, but Japan has a tremendously vibrant and active music industry across a multitude of genres that doesn't get exposure in the west due to the language barrier. Don't be fooled into thinking that Japanese music = anime, because there is a whole lot more going on in the Japanese music scene than just that.

Nice reaction guys and no this is not one you need to be embarrassed by the lyrics. Although I liked what you said about getting the vibe of the music first without worrying about the lyrics. I think that's a wise path to tread. This video was released nine years ago and just so you know at that time Su (lead vocals) was 17 and Yui and Moa were 15. They are still going strong and now in their mid to early 20's have continued to grow as an act and do now have a worldwide following of millions. Personally I'd love to see you react to some of their newer material, and it does rock. Their live performances are legendary. Here's a link to one of their classic songs but as they do it now. So-called J-pop is quite different from Western pop music, its chord progressions and such. What makes it sound like "anime" to you can be such characteristics of J-pop, because anime opening songs are virtually the only way for people living outside of Japan to experience J-pop. That is the reason why we feel a bit awkward as people say BABYMETAL sounds like anime. Anime is great, but anime is not the only contemporary Japanese pop culture.

Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊
There is nobody quite like BABYMETAL. They started in 2010 as a sub-unit of a school themed JPop Idol group (they were aged 12 and 11 at the time) and created their own metal sub-genre mixing metal with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics. They separated from the parent group in 2013 and have been touring the world every year (when they could) since 2014.
We have watched them grow up and become one of the very best live acts on the planet and the most successful Japanese band there has been internationally. They played 94 concerts last year in 25 countries including 29 in the US where they co-headlined with Dethklok.
BABYMETAL are Su-metal (lead vocalist and the whole concept was formed and developed around her vocal talents and stage presence - she is exceptionally talented), Moametal and Momometal (in charge of backing vocals, harmonies and mainly hyping and involving the crowd with their choreo).
The backing vocals will grow on you - those are the parts the crowd will sing along with and they are a huge part of what sets BABYMETAL apart from other bands.
The original third member, Yuimetal, was in this video - she last performed in October 2017 and was absent for 12 months for health reasons until she announced in October 2018 that she was still not fully recovered and would be leaving the band.
After Yui left Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo through to and a bit beyond their 10th anniversary. So it was just the two of them for 4 or 5 years supported from 2019 by 3 dancers who would take turns dancing in the third spot until 1st April 2023 when one of those dancers, Momoko, was finally revealed as the new official third member.
They are supported in all live shows by the Kami Band, all of them are world class instrumentalists. Since 2019 they have two Kami Bands, the Kami Band of the East (the best Japanese session musicians you could ask for) have been with them since 2012 and full time since early 2014. The Kami Band of the West (American musicians) joined them in 2019 and have been the full time support for the lengthier tours around the world (they played 94 concerts in 25 countries last year).
You will only see and hear the Kami Band in live performances, they do not record the studio versions (with one guitarist being the known exception).
They have nearly 70 songs now, each one different to the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre, but they will mix and blend so many other musical styles and genres with the metal - usually when you least expect it.
Interesting you mentioned different ,musical styles from around the world - BABYMETAL have songs that pay homage to some of those including India, the middle east, Latin music, eastern/northern Europe and Thailand - and a couple of very Japanese songs of course.
No songs about coconut yet ... but they do sing about papaya fruit in one. You are right, you don't need to know the lyrics to enjoy the song or to get the feel of what the song is about. As Su-metal once said "Don't Think. Feel."
You can always check the lyrics later of course and you will find some of their songs are just fun, but most are quite deep and meaningful - and most are positive and uplifting.
'Karate' was the lead single for their second album (2016) so it is one of their more "radio friendly" songs in both sound and structure. It is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this because as a Japanese martial art it reflects their culture - as with a lot of their songs it is also about always moving forwards.
In the video the figures in white were the girls all along and they were conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against. They beat the first, the second knocked them down but they got up to eventually defeat themselves (did you notice the reflections of each of the girls in their own eyes when the masks shattered and it was revealed as them? Not many people spot that).
They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible (but they are not martial artists). Moa catching the fly was a nod to Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid. Mr Miyagi may have used chop sticks (and it may have taken him two or three films before he caught one), Moa caught her fly with her eyes closed - first time.
This song and video won 2 awards. "Best Metal Video in MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2016" and "Best Metal Song in 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards".
Their official videos are all very good and worth seeing, but they are one of the best live bands on the planet, that is where they are really at their best.
Try 'Megitsune' live at PIA Arena from April last year. That one gives a good idea of what they are all about, but you could pick virtually any of their songs and you won't be disappointed.
