  • The Road To Cofete
We took our friends on a trip down south to Cofete which is quite a trek once you leave the paved roads of Morro Jable. I had to fib a bit to Sue telling her it would only take 20 minutes as if I had told her the truth she would never have gone. The road to Cofete is rather bumpy and windy in places but it is certainly worth the trip. Sue's comments are quite funny on the way down from the viewing point as she found it scary..
There is a 4x4 bus service that goes from Morro Jable if you don't fancy the drive yourself.
Cofete was one of the major locations for the filming of Exodus: Gods and Kings.

Cofete is a magical place. I walked there a few years ago across the mountain pass that starts near the cemetery just past Morro Jable

It certainly is. It is a shame it is about as far away from my house as it is possible to get. That sounds like quite a walk. How long did it take you?

@@JPinFuerteventura took about two and half hours stating from the cemetery on the main road. Last time I did this I got the 4*4 bus back to Morro jable

Brings back great memories, we stayed in Costa Calma and took a trip on that very road.

Try a walk along the beach to the "Islote de las siete viudas". The view from that point ist impressive. Only 2-3 hours walking from the parkplace beside the cemetery. Y la carretera no da tanto miedo. Antes era mucho peor. Saludos.

My fiancee and i are staying at a hotel close to the Costa Calma (R2 I believe). Driving there from the airport is something I'm looking forward to if the road is like this! :D awesome!

The road from the airport isn't like this at all these days - it is even dual carriageway in places. You will be able to drive to Cofete on this road in about 40 minutes from Costa Calma though. Well worth the trip and a massive lovely beach.

The view from the car park is truly stunning, Iv`e been in 30+ countries all over the world, but that view is one of the best I have ever seen.
The beach is quiet and clean, the colour of the sea and size and noise of the waves are quite remarkable. I can understand why the Germans
used it to re-supply their U-Boats during WW2, its deserted and inaccessible. I went to Cofete in February 2020, while driving that road, I was
sh***ng myself to be honest, but I would not have missed it for the world. Nice video.

That was very energetic. I think I would rather trust my driving skills than a bus driver's though. Thanks for watching.

I've been to fuerteventura twice and I've been there and back twice I hated the journey because of how scary it was but it was worth it 😂😂

Hi would you recomment driving there a hire car?

    • @JPinFuerteventura
      @JPinFuerteventura  Před 4 lety

Most of the cars in Cofete each day are hire cars. The road is bumpy but not too bad. You will sign an agreement that you won't drive the hire car "off road" but everyone does.
