Bubble, Hard Kandy, Bass Station, 3D, Evolution, PHD, Altitude, HSD all contributed to the amazing late 90's - 2000's golden era of hardtrance, hardstyle and the Melbourne Shuffle
I wonder how many people that are in this video, if any, got to see it. Such a great video, but still somehow managed to make me a bit sad. So many great memories and so many great moments - captured by camera, and yet lost forever... Really such a shame. Great oldschool rocking, hopefully someone somewhere out there still remembers all this and all these memories and moments still live. I guess it's up to us newer shufflers to make sure they never fade away or, even worse, disappear. Keep on shuffling and always remember all these people when you dance!
Don't feel sad 😊 some of us shufflers in this vid are still around tbh like myself and still rockin it to this day, I may be a bit older now but its still mad fun....and I know many of you shufflers have looked up to us like in this vid or in that melbourne shuffle documentary and we thank people like you and many other shufflers out there for the support 🙌 #melbournerockerpan
At 39:24, Left of screen, slightly towards the back, white t-shirt, green hat. Behind the kid in the orange. Thats me. This was shot at Hard Kandy, Royal Melbourne Hotel, after sunrise one saturday morning sometime probably in 2005. This was in the transition period where the original melbourne shuffle had begun to be replaced by the running man. As this coincided with the birth of CZcams what the world became familar with as the Melbourne Shuffle wasn't a shuffle, its a running man / stomp. Its no less techical or amazing to watch but by definition its not a 'shuffle'. I often wish there were as many vids of my orignal Melbourne rave generation as the new school stuff.
@@edmac3651 Great comment, thanks for the reply. :) Must've been great, yet kind of weird to see yourself in one of these videos after all these years, even if for just two seconds. Interesting how you remember some of the little details. I understand what you mean by the difference between the original shuffle and what later came to be of it. The T-step has always been and will always be the real foundation of the Melbourne Shuffle. Again, thanks!
just discovered shuffling, im a ex break dancer and stomping to northern soulall my life luv the pure energy of the tunes amd the youth proppa mental as we say in newcastle england 54 and still stompin ! dj ozzibounce uk
The things I would do to be in my 20s in Melbourne at that time. Love rocking so much, but only so many people keep at it these days. Can't stop, won't stop!!!!!
Love this clip!! Thank you for making. From Darwin here and a huge fan of the shuffle, THE REAL MELB SHUFFLE and not the running man you see on CZcams claiming to be shuffling.for many prior years we had a great techno scene at our venue TIME NIGHTCLUB. Had a real underground feel to it also. I miss the hard thumping bass on the dance floor, the abundance of coloured lights and of course the friendly atmosphere.32 yrs old now and still rave on and shuffle as soon as i hear a decent hard dance beat even in your average club haha..I WILL SHUFFLE ON AND I WILL TEACH MY KIDS. SHOW THEM HOW MUCH JOY TECHNO MUSIC CAN OFFER
Best old school kandy vid by far, just the general footage of 1 of many nights there. No stadged try hard showboating shuffling shit stackers. Just people off their dials having a blast. Good times
He didn't...not taking anything away from him, I'm sure he made an impression, but a group of English lads moved to Melbourne around 1989, they brought it with them. It's in the doco itself, as recounted by one of Melbourne's main techno djs Richie Rich. And before that the steps themselves evolved out of the Nothern Soul scene in the UK.
How good were these days without mobile phones! I’m almost certain the drugs were less harmful to your brain & life than the affect of mobile technology… 🎉
Who needs a club when you have the streets of melbourne lol, i was one generation short of experiencing such euphoria, never missed out on the quality bickies though
+Koto Oo The real basic is to have fun for sure ^^ apart from that, i´d say that the basic is just to shuffle 1 feet and stomp with the other (and there is where creativity comes into play)
From my experience of Melbourne Shuffling my style is somewhat similar to the 07 style and this type of style is very old-school this is the real OG Melbourne Shuffle which is only T-Step, Spins, Kicks, and Hat Tricks💢 the rest of the other movements like arm movements and all are what you incorporate in your style💯
quick question what was it called back then .? the running man .?? cause when i was young teen in 09-13 it was called malaysian shuffle or melbourne shuffle & everyone was doing it broo , well still are when the rave pops out or an event but that shit takes me back to soo much good memories with the homies making videos lol
The documentary in itself is already called 'Melbourne Shuffle' go figure lol. In terms of the naming itself, Malaysian Shuffle came about around the mid 2000s when returning students from Melbourne brought in the dance to local underground clubs. Had the opportunity to experience the best of both sides in its heyday, Good times. Keep rocking man.
In 1989/90 it was called "stomping" and was more dynamic in terms of the feet lifting and other creative movements. The DJs were initially playing at about 125bpms, but after techno got faster and trance became massive that went up to 140+, so to keep up dancers had to generally keep movements more minimal...and that was called "shuffling". Probably sometime in the mid 90s. Source: I started dancing in 1990, mostly danced rather than anything else when I was out, also did some rave wear fashion shows too.
let the rythum take control nobody can teach u to shuffle ur brain will remember other peoples moves even when u dont ! then u make it ur own ! jump on the dance floor and feel like a tit and take the beats in as they are your instructions ! dj ozzibounce uk

Does any one know the name of the shuffler from 25:24 mins to 26:44 ?
Or if there are any more clips of him shuffling on youtube ?
Ryan Dobermann I highly doubt you'll find names of any of the shufflers in this video. :/
His name is in the full video, this is only part of the full documentary. He could be 'Spinner'
Ryan Dobermann late response, but that is my old mate victor! I used to love rocking with him, he was one of my favourite dancers!
@@intensecutn does victor have a fb? I used to rock with him back in the day also.
Kevin Klein nah im not sure man. I lost contact with pretty much anyone I hung out with back in those days.
