From December 2005 the ITV News Channel finally breathes its last. Quite why anybody would want to watch this I don't know. Just fed up with it littering up my hard drive.
It was originally scheduled to close in 2006 but the closure date was brought forward to 23rd December 2005 and the reason being that 'it would have been unfair to expect the staff to work over Christmas knowing that the channel was to close shortly afterwards'.
I remember watching this. Looking back, the 2004 graphics look so great, but at the time I always thought that the current 'itv' branding had been changed so much that they needed a brand new one. Looking back, I guess I was mistaken. I always thought that the music from when it was the ITN News Channel was the best - with all the arrows flying over the place paired with dramatic music. Ah, the days of On Digital.
It was such an awesome channel at letting us all know the news... most people didn't even know it stopped airing. Just goes to show you how well publicised it was.(n't)
God he makes it sound like it's the end of the world as we know it!! I totally didn't know ITV News Channel had been going on for 5 years, perhaps it's lack of awareness in the public domain was part of its closure (either that or something to do with Freeview). I personally preferred ITV News Channel to BBC News 24 and Sky News, I found their news to be easier to digest and wasn't full of tecnical info that made it hard to understand.
Or maybe because news doesn't always have to be bogged down with non-essential facts and figures. News on the whole, personally speaking, should be frank and to the point 90% of the time.
It's a shame it went. I admit that due to its tiny budget it wasn't often riveting viewing. All we've got now though is state TV and Rupert Murdoch. We need more voices.
I quite liked it tbh, certainly watched it more than bbc news 24 (as it was then) and sky news Nowadays I watch GB ne...lmao hahaha no. Nobody watches that hehe

I suppose this is a historical document.
Thamks for downloading it.
I like that it just silently fades out.
What a depressing ending, could have made light of the situation with the theme tune at least? :/

I actually prefered this over BBC News 24, I thought it was the only decent news channel on Freeview. Now I just watch Sky News

R.I.P. ITV News Channel (2000-2005)

I've just gone off in my pants!
END OF 5 YEARS
why anybody would want to record this, so that it takes up room on their harddrive, i don't know.
meh, no one was watching it at the time anyway
Not really a victim of its own success then... maybe a victim of everyone else's success?
:P
