  • I was very lucky to inherit my Grandfathers favourite road bike. A 1980 Vintage Argos Racing Cycle. He had it made specifically for him; light weight, a beautiful colour and a dream to ride.
    In this video we ask Argos if they know any more about it or have any information from the time and learn a bit more about it's history.
    Argos Racing Cycles are based in Bristol and you can find out more about them in one of our previous videos: • Behind the Scenes - Ar...
    They are an incredible company and well worth checking out what they do. Incredible value for money and beautiful craftsmanship.

    Heart-warming. I wish I'd had a grandad with a passion for cycling like yours did Sarah.

    Fantastic bike and awesome with the history behind it. I think I would be tempted to keep the original paint and patina.

    Ha. This video makes me feel old. My main ride I bought in 1970. I still consider bikes from the 80's "modern".

    Lovely vid and it's great to see your grandad's bike back in action - I'm sure he'd like that. I'd just say, no need for a respray, perhaps just touch it up. Only put new components if they'll suit you better.
    I have a vintage Pug with all original parts, but I'm not sure if i want to modernize it....still thinking. If i do, I would definitely ride it more.

      Thanks for the comments and watching. Yes he would definitely be pleased I was riding it. Paul put new components on his Argos (and he’s done many restorations doing the same) so certainly worth it. (Not sure if you’ve seen those videos?) Yes won’t put new components on unless I’ll definitely use it more!

      @@veloworks9266 I'll check those vids since I quite restomods; hope he does more of them. If I can fit fatter tyres, and find sympathetic modern components, I might go for it and use it for longer rides.

    More videos with Sarah in please! Lovely that your Grandad's passion for cycling rubbed off on you. Would like to hear more about tours you've done or tours you plan to do. What a shame the folk at Argos are camera-shy - would have been nice to hear them talking about your old Argos bikes.

      @veloworks9266  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Aw thanks!!! I’m a bit more camera shy than paul but I’ll try! And yes we have some tours planned so will certainly share them. Did you see the behind the scenes at Argos video we did a few weeks ago?

      Argos lads don't know the power of social media yet. They should show off what they're doing since there aren't many quality bike builders left. If they do some low end models, they'll clean up the market.

    • @cliveelsmore
      @cliveelsmore Před 6 měsíci +1

      I didn't notice any nervousness, Sarah. I'd say you have a very natural way of speaking to camera!
      Yup, I did watch the behind the scenes video about Argos. The metallic deep purple frame with the lined lugwork was simply gorgeous! I probably wouldn't want to ride a bike like that for fear of scratching it! It was Paul doing all the talking in that video - an interview with them might prove interesting though I'm not sure they need publicity - they have an excellent reputation already.
