Ok Paul, you did ask for suggestions... I use mine to explore the South Downs. I tend to carry quite a lot of stuff on the front and back (photo &/or painting gear). Country lanes and tracks are my main routes. As Brompton are extending their range beyond their traditional city bikes, new riders will, I suspect, be thinking, how they might push their Bromptons beyond tarmac. Perhaps even bike packing. Keep up the good work promoting independent bike shops ...

As a Dane, I found my by then, Top Model, 2019 Superlight in an ordinary bike/Brompton Shop in Cph. A Dealer I connected before that, claimed that Brompton - hardly cared to answer questions about bikes!! I saw what they had ready as finished bikes and found my Flame Painted, "black version" as my choice, so even though much less of my original bike is - still in place, my now Titanium seat post is black! And it didn't in any way felt flimsy or thin, so I trust it completely! With near all loose parts on my bike changed to carbon and titanium it now weighs below 9 kilo, and still with my mudguards, as a "Rainy Dane"! I have changed the clamps holding the original titanium stays to carbon, from the original "Heavy Metal versions! Finn. Denmark

At a time I saw that well known, Brilliant Bikes had got returned an Original Brompton Titanium seat post, which had broken after some years! I'm sure that a Ti-parts seat post is most likely a little more finely made and weighs a little less, but I hardly care as my bike is now around the weight of an original T-line, with mudguards! And more gears, except for the new 12 gear version! Finn. Denmark

@@veloworks9266 I have bought near all my extra parts from China and Taiwan, as they are the main suppliers of better and lighter parts for a Brompton! And it is less complicated than buying from the UK, after Brexit! I admit that "those who follows in the footsteps, will never come first", but they are able to see when things could have been made better! And they have made an Industry of making Protective Parts for the frame, as Brompton hardly cares! As a first I gave my new bike an Auto Polish and forund that the one "protective tape" had been near worn through to the paint, after two or three folds! So I ordered a "set" for my bike! Finn. Only thing I have noticed is it the matte/slightly rough finish seemed to wear the plastic insert out faster and I just got that replaced, maybe I just didn't have the clamp tight enough so it was sliding?. Apart from the weight loss, the gain in comfort and the beautiful rainbow you’re riding on now, there is a further side effect that should be mentioned. The titanium seat post will slip less than a chromium plated one. So the seat post sleeve replacement has to be done less often. @@veloworks9266 I owned 2 ebikes before converting my road bike with a kit from Grin. The road bike is a standard bike with a Gates Belt and 8 speed Alfine hub; so maybe not so standard, but definitely not custom ebike build. The first reason for selling the ebikes and doing my own was WEIGHT. ebikes are heavy and in my opinion, more heavy than they need to be. My theory is ebikes start with a strong frame and add a powerful motor and battery. With the motor and battery added, the frame needs more strength so a heavier frame is made. This requires a more powerful motor that requires a bigger battery. This continues until we get todays ebike - HEAVY. I started with a standard weight bike and added 4kg motor in the front wheel and a 2 kg battery under the seat - plus a few wires. The motor can require 1000plus watts and the battery can provide 1000plus watts but I generally run up to 400watts. The bottom bracket has been replaced with a torque sensor bb and a motor controller has been fitted under the handle bars connected to the motor and the battery. The e-components are standard and can be sourced from a variety of suppliers - Grin provides them at a reasonable markup and Grin also provides excellent before and after sales service. Because the bike is standard any bike shop can service it, and because I put the electronics together - plug and play - I could easily replace any component from several suppliers. One other reason I moved / ran away from proprietary ebikes is the components are being upgraded each 6 months - smaller, faster, better - and after 5 or 6 years, when things need replacing, how can I guarantee the single supplier of the part will still have a part from 12 upgrades ago - esp. batteries and motors and specific motor controllers. With motors and batteries only fitting into a specific frame, and motors changing shape constantly, replacing motors later is going to be tricky. I reckon you would have a wonderful time converting a standard bike with a kit from Grin. And I'm here to provide any assistance. It really is easier than it looks.

@@SimonBrowneNZ thanks for sharing. We do work on certain brands of ebikes but our passion for bike maintenance comes from traditional non electric bikes. This is what really motivates me - working on these type of bikes - as there is more of a mechanical nature to the work. E-bikes and conversion kits is less about the mechanical process of fixing a bike therefore it’s less satisfying for me 😂 therefore we don’t have a passion for it but it’s great that you do 👍

We definitely don't want to give up cycling cause of health problems. For us , it's either small wheels or gigantic wheels. Hi Paul, Glad to hear that you're on the mend. The trouble wit the imbalance / inflexibility is it's usually such a gradual thing that you don't notice until it's got quite bad, and then it's a longer journey back to fitness. I've been seeing a physio once a month or so for decades ( I used to run silly distances ) and he picks things up before they become a major issue. With regard to your upgrade, I'm " going large " and reckon you're going to spread the rear triangle and fit a 14 speed Rohloff 😁 Keep well, and keep the videos coming.

I've been doing a prepare well orthopaedic course over the last 6 weeks as I'm having 2 hip replacements. All the physios on the course mentioned that although cycling is a brilliant form of exercise it does course an imbalance in the legs. Frontal thighs and calves get trained but hamstrings and glutes not so much. They gave me brilliant yoga type stretches that have helped big time.

Whilst I do see the benefit of this and was taught this at the very early start of my career , the bike industry generally feels as though copper grease is overkill for bike applications.
