same. She is the only BangerTV cast member I haven't met outside of Martin Popoff more than likely because our tastes don't align but I still watch her reviews. I ran into her awkwardly on the street in Toronto once but she was on the phone and I just came off as a creep as a result. ;)
@DarkAgnesDoom I do recall you gave a shout out to Havukruunu once. That is my all time favorite band most people in NA probably haven't heard of. I absolutely love those guys and wish they could tour here.
Sarah is hands down the definition of a true and passionate metalhead who lives and breathes it nonstop. How lucky we all are to witness such passion! More Sarah!
Undoubtedly one of, if not the best album of 2019 hands down. A special mention to the care and detail that Atlantean kodex displays on all their visual artwork and booklets would have also been cool. Course of empire's CD lavish edition limited to 300 hand numbered copies is a true work of art absolutely gorgeous and stunning!
This is the kind of musical shift I've been looking for. As much as I love rapid paced harsh thrash and death metal, it can be a nice change of pace to listen to something more slow, grandiose, melodic and epic.
Really enjoyed hearing about a band that I had no knowledge about. My metal ear has been very US centered and Banger has definitely opened me up to way more metal from around the world that doesn't get covered in US. While Atlantean Kodex isn't really my thing, though I can definitely appreciate the talent and appeal, Keys of Orthanc sounds rad.
What an awesome album, and what an awesome band. Golden Bough, White Goddess and now Course of Empire ... three Masterpieces in a row ... like Bathory (Blood, Fire, Death / Hammerheart / Twilight of the Gods) and Manowar (Into Glory Ride, Hail to England, Sign of the Hammer). All hail Atlantean Kodex !! Best of the best nowadays!
I must disagree that the band’s sound hasn’t changed between The White Goddess and this one. I think it has become more dynamic and propulsive, with many more mid-to-high tempo parts and more change of tempo within tracks. And it is even more epic (Manowaresque) if that was even possible. As a result, i think this is their best record by far. I went back to the White Goddess after listening to this one and it seemed a little tame and languid in comparaison (except for Sol Invictus, such a fantastic song).
This is my album of the year, hands down. The band delivered 100% what I wanted from a new album, and the record as a whole feels like a continuation of The White Goddess. The production is perfect, it's super grandiose and vast, the riffs are as huge and powerful as always, and Becker sounds better than ever. Everything about this album is why they're my favourite band of the last decade. Kneel before Atlantean Kodex!
Fuck I'm on the first two songs, never heard this band before...but I see why this is your first 5 skull review on Banger. This album is beyond fucking epic. I think I'm going to be listening to this band a lot.
I still love Manowar! There's nothing wrong with a bit of cheese now & then. Also, is this Sarah's second review in a row that has used the word Byzantium?
Its funny that ppl always need somehow to tone down their Manowar affection. Release yourself ppl and admit freely that they have produced the best music ever
so, I never had heard of this band until listening to a Spotify "artist radio mix" based on Crypt Sermon. I think I'm in love. and I need to go listen to White Goddess now.
Awesome review! I ordered my copy from Temple of Mystery records since I live in Canada. Super excited to build up my small collection of this kind of metal with this release. I have mostly been into death and black metal, but it's time to branch out a bit more! I am going to check out those black metal shout outs too though. The last black metal shout out I picked up of yours was Svartmalm (which was VERY cool). .
I dig the sound of Atlantean Kodex, I'll have to give them a serious listen. Loved the Keys of Orthanc shoutout, the track "Lord's Bane" has been stuck in my damn head for almost a month!
THERE you go. dontcha feel better now? :) P.S: As you pointed out: The band have found a production that really suits their musical vision. I don't see what would be achieved by changing it for the sake of change? I applaud the consistency. Thanks for the review.
Love the vids and all the underground stuff. Ive found a few bands and like the style of review but i am wondering where the hell is the review for the new Korn album. Im a long time fan and just wondered what banger thought
i'm way late to watching this review, in the kindest way, i just wanted to point out i never saw a Sarah review where she stuttered or stalled so much. Also, is she reading off a green screen? you can see the reflection in her glasses and also she's looking down a lot. This album rules though. I'm new to the band so it was cool to hear some of the back story from Sarah. Truly one of my favorites of the year. Love Banger TV!
I can't seem to find the actual CD here in the US. Can't find it locally, amazon and band camp is only offering the digital version. The USA Napalm Records doesn't even list these guys when I search for "Atlantean Kodex The Course of Empire".
Sarah I will respectfully disagree with your taste in metal, but hot damn batman you know your stuff. I always fall in line more with the blayne black/death/doom but you are very informative and a damn good reviewer. Power and heavy metal just aren't my jams though
This album it's on the borderline of my dislike for Doom, there are some songs that I love bot song that I really don't like at all because they sound really Doom, but I can see why people love this album, I just going to download in Apple Music the songs I like.
Well! =/ all of those BIG words you used to describe the Intro song failed to mention "Power Ballad" sappy basically non appealing to anyone like me!!! on Bass guitar I warm up with Slayers South of Heaven!! I'm going to chime in here and say the reason it Failed in the states as it was really lame..... not an attack on you or your review = Just my 0.02¢
adarsh singh i don't care to listen to "everything" but i just freely listen to what suits the moment and then discover and listen to new music (diversity is good) on my own
I'm a big power metal fan, Manowar you could potentially call power metal (at times), but Atlantean Kodex isn't power metal, maybe epic doom or just epic metal, or "traditional metal". Power metal typically has crazy powerful/high range vocals, speedy tempo, super talented guitars with solos, likely keyboards, steady stream of double bass often carries the sound. Helloween, Dragonforce, etc. Or Jag Panzer, Iced Earth for America power metal.
Millinilla Road? Sorry its Manilla Road lol . i love this chick but her reviews are garbage. Stop talking about other bands for the first few and just get to it. I get it, you like epic doom, geez.
I dont have the same taste in metal as Sarah but I love her reviews and the fact that we get a peak into her record collection is awesome!
same. She is the only BangerTV cast member I haven't met outside of Martin Popoff more than likely because our tastes don't align but I still watch her reviews. I ran into her awkwardly on the street in Toronto once but she was on the phone and I just came off as a creep as a result. ;)
Same. I also love how in her reviews she drops at least 5 recommendations within the review on top of the post-review shoutouts
@DarkAgnesDoom I do recall you gave a shout out to Havukruunu once. That is my all time favorite band most people in NA probably haven't heard of. I absolutely love those guys and wish they could tour here.
I agree... I don't know why they keep that Blayne buffoon around...
1+ years later. I keep coming back to The Course of Empire in awe. For me, possibly the best album of the past decade.
Agree ... white goddess and course of empire - for me - are both in the top list of the decade!
I loves Sarah’s passion for the music
Sarah is hands down the definition of a true and passionate metalhead who lives and breathes it nonstop. How lucky we all are to witness such passion!
More Sarah!
Possibly my favorite album this year and I'm glad to see it getting the attention it deserves.
I don't like this kind of metal but I love this kind of reviews. Keep up the good work!
I was looking for BangBros but found this instead. I guess I’ll have to wait!
One of the best bands currently, and this is certainly one of the best albums of the year
Atlantean Kodex Mastermind Manuel Trummer has a docterate in cultural history. This band is so grand and so masterful that it is insane! So good!!!!
Atlantean Kodex is so god dang good. Very glad to hear the new album lives up to their past releases. Thanks for the great review!

Atlantean Kodex is awesome, and thanks for the shout out! Keep up the great work! \m/

Been listening to these guys since The White Goddess and never turned back. I am so glad they finally released a new album.
Was not expecting a review for this! But a welcome one 😊
Love this album. Can't stop listening to it.
Great to see Departure Chandelier get some love!
I was pleasantly surprised it got some love here, very good album
What an awesome album, and what an awesome band. What godly music is this? I'm gonna have to check them out. Epic doesn't even cover their sound.
Slippery Ginger EXACTLY my thoughts when I heard that clip. I’m literally about to go over to Spotify now to look for more!

Thanks for the concert recommendation Sarah. They are playing Chicago on 9/21/19. The day before my birthday
Best album of 2019. Great review!
Fuck I'm on the first two songs, never heard this band before...but I see why this is your first 5 skull review on Banger. This album is beyond fucking epic. I think I'm going to be listening to this band a lot.
Been a fan since The Golden Bough, these guys are awesome !
Nice review of an amazing album! Best record from my home country this year, up to this point. :)
This sounds like a new band I need to check out again. You are my favorite reviewer on BANGER because our taste in metal are similar.
I'm NOT into traditional/power/heavy metal, but this might be the best album of 2019. No lie.
Holy shit this album was amazing it deserves 5 skulls.
thank you for the shoutouts my lady Sarah!
Best reviewer on CZcams. Thankyou so much for introducing me to this band!
so, I never had heard of this band until listening to a Spotify "artist radio mix" based on Crypt Sermon.
I think I'm in love. and I need to go listen to White Goddess now.

Thanks for mentioning Keys of othanc🤘🔥
Album of the year
Great band. They are dark and remind me of a less doomy, and by extension less heavy, Candlemass.
Overkill Reviews is just Sarah's excuse to show off her Vinyl collection
That's a good thing!
I'll check it out, sounds promising.
Thanks Sarah, this is excellent music. Never heard it before until this review.
I dig the sound of Atlantean Kodex, I'll have to give them a serious listen. Loved the Keys of Orthanc shoutout, the track "Lord's Bane" has been stuck in my damn head for almost a month!
Departure chandelier is so sick. Love your reviews Sarah!!
Yes! The new Keys of Orthanac is amazing!
And based on this review, I guess I also have to check out Atlantean Kodex now.
Atlantean Kodex is awesome, and this is definitely their Masterpiece!!! Great review, Sarah!
I need to literally buy every album on this list. This is probably the best review I've seen Sarah do - good on you!
It's Keys of Orthanc not Orthanac, Orthanc was the tower of Saruman in LOTR.
Looking forward to checking this out. My top of 2019 is Twilight Force so far.
THERE you go. dontcha feel better now? :)
P.S: As you pointed out: The band have found a production that really suits their musical vision. I don't see what would be achieved by changing it for the sake of change? I applaud the consistency.
Thanks for the review.
Love the review and the shout outs...now my wish is a little bigger (until payday)
Exactly the kind of metal I hate. But Sarah really is there best reviewer, very informative, concise and detailed.
*their
Capilla Ardiente review, please!
Somehow I have completely missed this band, but it sounds awesome!
Love the vids and all the underground stuff. Ive found a few bands and like the style of review but i am wondering where the hell is the review for the new Korn album. Im a long time fan and just wondered what banger thought
BEST ALBUM OF 2019!!!!
I was hoping for a The HU review, but this is a pleasant surprise
i'm way late to watching this review, in the kindest way, i just wanted to point out i never saw a Sarah review where she stuttered or stalled so much. Also, is she reading off a green screen? you can see the reflection in her glasses and also she's looking down a lot.
This album rules though. I'm new to the band so it was cool to hear some of the back story from Sarah. Truly one of my favorites of the year. Love Banger TV!
You should all check out the label this came out on. Van Records puts out amazing bands only!
You ever meet one of those people that likes or collects something and feels the need to show it and let you know at every possible opportunity?
I can't seem to find the actual CD here in the US. Can't find it locally, amazon and band camp is only offering the digital version. The USA Napalm Records doesn't even list these guys when I search for "Atlantean Kodex The Course of Empire".
They are not signed to Napalm but Van Records a German label.
And next we have Brad and Blayne reviewing an Epic Grindcore band! Tune in!
How do you buy this album? Anything beside digital? Not even amazon has it
It's weird how language works. Since I'm Irish I associate "trad metal" with Irish "folk metal" bands as opposed to old school metal.
Great album, great band......Yes 5 skulls……..
This was so much better than Crypt Sermons album.
I would take her to applebee's!
I was given the first record years ago and never listen to it will do now
Cheers
Please react to John West(Royal Hunt,Artension, etc).
No Korn review? I like the underground stuff but you gotta those clicks somehow. I think the new album is pretty good too.
I listened to half of Korn's new album. Pretty good, nice intensity too!
Is Korn considered metal?
what are the other 3 albums standing up
Atlantean Kodex are amazing! Really looking forward to this album.
Dropping mad heat
Sarah I will respectfully disagree with your taste in metal, but hot damn batman you know your stuff. I always fall in line more with the blayne black/death/doom but you are very informative and a damn good reviewer. Power and heavy metal just aren't my jams though
ThAT gatekeeper album is GREAT !
Would've been so much better if it only came out on purple marble reel-to-reel tape.
Right fuckin into this.
Fuck yeeeeeeah! \mmmmmm/
y'all still haven't reviewed Path- Songs of Death... do it they're bad ass
This album it's on the borderline of my dislike for Doom, there are some songs that I love bot song that I really don't like at all because they sound really Doom, but I can see why people love this album, I just going to download in Apple Music the songs I like.
I should've known I wouldn't like it, the band name itself screams NEEERRRDDDDSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
Well! =/ all of those BIG words you used to describe the Intro song failed to mention "Power Ballad" sappy basically non appealing to anyone like me!!! on Bass guitar I warm up with Slayers South of Heaven!! I'm going to chime in here and say the reason it Failed in the states as it was really lame..... not an attack on you or your review = Just my 0.02¢
Eh... y no music?
why are you a patron to your own show?
was she reading?
But does it djent
The only band from the new wave of trad bands that i dont feel
ORTHANC, it’s Orthanc..
ORTHANC not Orthanac......
So many bands ,so much music to listen to ,so less time😭
The ongoing struggle... im up to 160 albums this year so far
adarsh singh i don't care to listen to "everything" but i just freely listen to what suits the moment and then discover and listen to new music (diversity is good) on my own
@@andyfox8377 bruh!
📽️👏🤟'👍
That's a def skip, but Keys of Orthanc are more up my alley
Metal Lucifer, LOL, thats the most metal name ever
which is a lot of metallest bands even cringe to use...
Departure Chandelier is for people who think Black Magick SS is too "taboo"
power metal is fucking hilarious. by far the funniest genre of metal. i LOVE some PM but my god some of it ya just gotta chuckle.
I'm a big power metal fan, Manowar you could potentially call power metal (at times), but Atlantean Kodex isn't power metal, maybe epic doom or just epic metal, or "traditional metal".
Power metal typically has crazy powerful/high range vocals, speedy tempo, super talented guitars with solos, likely keyboards, steady stream of double bass often carries the sound. Helloween, Dragonforce, etc. Or Jag Panzer, Iced Earth for America power metal.

Not a huge fan of this band, too pompous and talkative for me. But this new album has its moments.
