I traveled HWY 1 from the Arkansas state line to Armestead LA for work, prior to I-49. I enjoyed the little stops for gas or a cold drink.

I grew up in Boyce and it with thru a 5 decade of partying and gambling and over populated... Boyce was known for being a very busy and fun little town we're also way smaller than the other near by towns so we played different because everybody was athletic even the chubby ones 😆 🤣 😂 the natural of the town was zydeco with lilttle everything else as long as its something physical 😆...

Spent my childhood on Highway 1 almost every weekend between 1962 and 1977. Traveling from Shreveport to my grandparents in Bellwood which is a few miles south of Provençal which is a few miles south of Nachitoches.

My first trip to natchitoches was in 1977 no n/s l-49. I had to find that town . Me and my motorcycle found it. I graduated in 1979. Never used l-49. But it was money well spent on Louisiana infrastructure
