- When it comes to pronunciation and language learning, most people don’t start thinking about their accent until they have already reached a very advanced level. It’s a shame, because by that time, people have already learned a pronunciation system that may not actually work. In fact, now you have to UNLEARN one way of speaking in addition to learning another.
Maybe the problem is you’re not sure what to focus on when YOU are learning a new language. So, I decided to try and learn Japanese, a language I have never studied, to show you the steps I would take to achieve a natural accent as fast as possible. In fact, I’m only giving myself thirty minutes to start to understand the basics of a natural Japanese accent. Is that enough time to achieve my goals? Let’s find out!
Also, if you’re interested in learning Japanese, my experience with Mizuki (THANKS SO MUCH FOR BEING A PART OF THIS VIDEO!) was so, so helpful I really couldn’t recommend him more; find his classes here: www.italki.com/en/teacher/6530815

Japanese and American English are different Japanese speaks higher placement and American speaks lower placement. I noticed when Japanese people speak American their placement higher what do you think?
yep, the placement tends to be higher!
Great job!👏
thanks so much!
あなたは美しい言語、グッドラックで完璧な仕事をしています。
haha thank you Showq! Unfortunately this was about the sentence I can understand in Japanese right now, but maybe one day I'll learn more!
I'm Japanese. I think you are doing well.
haha thanks so muchfor the kind words!! maybe I'll do another 30 minutes in the future!
Cool when we Brazilians are thinking we also make this sound "eh"
hey Douglas! I've heard that Spanish and Japanese actually have a lot in common pronunciation-wise--I wouldn't be surprised if Portuguese and Japanese also had some similarities
@@FluentAmerican well arabic thinking sound(at least in my accent) is 'eh' as play
@@iiAbdullah635 hi Abdullah! that definitely seems to be a common type of sound for a lot of languages!
@@FluentAmerican but we don't sound the same. For some reason.
@@iiAbdullah635 oh for sure. Portuguese has more of a nasally placement for many sounds
You totally killed it! (Your airflow) Jk
