spottydog4477 Just a bit of additional information: the helmet-mounted camera was a Robot made by the Berning company, it's well known for its spring-driven film advance and capable of rapid sequence pictures; modified versions of the Robot was extensively used by the German forces.

'...unlike the fw190 or the bf109, you couldn't simply scramble a me163 komet.'
*no joke* although it's climb rate was simply unbelievable for the time, and also i must add the wing loading it obviously possessed is remarkable. This weapon system, is literally more akin to riding inside an aircraft shaped bomb, than a worthy aircraft. I'm not implying it wasn't brilliant, and the early use of 'lifting body' technology, is clearly understood here, the swept wing, it's amazing in a word.
*i absolutely wouldn't even consider flying in one, or certainly not being one of the ground crew. The propellants were explosive, one was corrosive, and simply banging into a tank of this stuff would detonate it. A lot of good pilots were fine, until they landed and died setting off the remaining fuels on a bumpy landing.*

Robot Recorder spring motor 35 mm kamera..
A favorite of pilots and aircrew....
A simple WWII POS type kamera.
Much less complicated to use than say a Leica, Exakta, Contax or Rollieflex..
    Highly collectable.

Hi spottydog 4477, have you footage of Stuka strafing civilians,? I know I've seen this footage back in the 60's in archive neewsreels but it may of been censored or destroyed

    G'day,
    Yay Team !
I once had an article published in Pacific Flyer Magazine concerning the idea of an Ultralight Sailplane version of the Me-163b, with a spherical Kevlar Watertank 3 Ft in diameter between the Wingspars, a spherical Kevlar Airtank behind the Rear-Spar, and with the (2,000 PSI) Airtank pressurising the Watertank then the Water-Rocket's Nozzle would replace that of the Walther-Rocket in the extreme Tail.
The idea was to use a Falling-Weight Catapault dropped from a Tower to energise a Launch-Cable ..., with the Tower behind the Aircraft & the Cable going out to a Turnaround-Pulley mounted on the Fence at the End of the Runway.
The ultimate Goal being to have Wind-Turbines (or Photovoltaic Panels) powering the Winch to raise the Catapault-Weight & run the Compressors to refill the Airbottle ; thus being able to Go Flying about every 3 Days to a Week, depending on how long it takes to pump up & lift up & be capable of taking-off & climbing-out to go looking for a Thermal..., actual Renewable-Energy powered Recreational Flight (!).
Thus far..., nobody's tried building the Water-Rocket...; but the Idea is out there..., circulating.
    Have a good one,
    ;-p
    Ciao !

Nice analysis. You have a voice like Kevin Costner. Is he from your part of the country?
