Didn't know Mr. Anand Mahindra is the man behind pro Kabaddi. He is my favorite.
Kabaddi definitely deserves to be in the Olympics, it has history, it has entertainment, and competitiveness. But the Olympic committee has gone from being an arbiter of global sports to pandering to the Western youth. They added categories like break-dancing and skateboarding which frankly don't deserve to be called sports, they are more like art, and they have already started to reduce categories from sports like wrestling, boxing, and shooting which have traditionally been core sports of the Olympics. The rest of the world has to wake up and decide whether the Olympics is a competition for the World or for the West.
Pro gaming (racing) is in Olympics now.. I'm not sure what credibility Olympics have anymore but kadbaddi seems like pretty competitive game none the less!

I am from south of India where this sport originated and the original form is played in the villages even to date. It’s a great endurance sport once played by the warriors to harp their physical and mental skills before they go for “dandayatra” or team invasion.
Fun fact, if not kabaddi, you can chant whatever word you like to. Doesn’t matter. But chanting must continue when you go for a “dadi” or raid in English.

No it can’t. People love playing kabaddi. But there is a difference between established team sports like cricket, soccer etc and kabaddi. These sports have dedicated generational fan base that keep watching their teams on TV, which makes the most money. Those are the reasons why cricket, soccer, NFL are billion dollar businesses. Sports like kabaddi are great pastimes as a kid, but unfortunately can’t generate such strong astronomical viewerships with a dedicated fanbase.
I think you don't know how big India is. Rural India know more about kabaddi than soccer and people who didn't forget there roots love watching kabaddi and they represent majority of India.
@@vijendrabugalia4571 Bruh! I myself grew up in rural India for the first 7-8 years of my life before moving into big cities. What you are saying is true. We grew up playing kabaddi and all. We played cricket and football too. But from the 90s when we grew up, because of regular cricket on TV, the cricket fanbase grew stronger stronger and it surpassed all other sports in India. That happened everywhere, including rural India. In fact, rural India has a much stronger cricket fanbase because all of them didn’t have cable TV. They mostly had terrestrial TV with DD1, where cricket was on. On the flipside, due to the presence of early cable TVs, urban India had football fans (for European clubs) and fans of other sports too, from the mid 90s.

I started watching it. Disappointed with cricket. Though I know it since my childhood. They did a great job to make it visible on national level or even international level.
I started watching Indian super league, after t20 cricket I have no interest in Cricket, it's a slogging game with no balance betwen bowling and batting. Batsman are scoring 200+ run in 20 overs which is getting boring now.

Because Kabaddi doesn't have 70 men's team , can't have a world cup in 7 years . Judo, taekwondo, karate are Asian sports in Olympics. Just because you play kabaddi doesn't make it a viable Olympic sport, first make it popular globally.

@@piyushraj8109 you don't understand the criteria. Kabaddi World Cup is overdue since 2016 . Kabaddi federation itself is not interested about spreading Kabaddi. 75 nations in Men and 40 in Women needs to be considered for Olympics, breakdance has more than 150 nation and kabaddi has only 42 when kabaddi will have 75+ then they can apply for Olympics.

Well the slapping type of Kabaddi is not the international version. That might be specific to some particular country side. The international version does not have any sich slap thing and you might be fined for that act.
