the sudden switch to catnap being more realistic and the deranged laughter from the other smiling critters before passing out is pretty creepy (at least for me), cant wait to see what chapter 3 has in store
How the f*ck did Playtime Co. think that a "cartoon" like that would be appealing to kids?? I'm a teen, and that sh*t's outright disturbing!
Feels typical 80's cartoon tbh.
Agreed
@venomfan2020 i mean old mickey mouse still looks like a creepypasta character to me
I dont think some of thems out cold, i see red flecks on some
I think the "hour of joy" implies that the supposed "sleeping gas" just makes kids go insane and laugh non-stop for a whole hour until they pass out, as shown on the Smiling Critters cartoon. The gas creates "the hour of joy"
ooo i like this
The way that the other 7 critters were addicted to the red poppy gas that cat nap emits seems a bit frightening. The way that they were laughing like psychopaths makes it seem like the gas is acting like a drug, making them go crazy and soon passing out after.
Right! Like look at their eyebrows when he shows up and they beg for him to put them to sleep, its like withdrawal, hell it likely is. In the comment section of Game Theory's video on Catnap before his name was revealed, someone pointed out that the scientific term for Opium Poppies is Papaver Somniferum. Opium is highly addictive and has been used to induce sleep so the addiction, withdrawal and sleep themes going around this vid are on point. However this doesn't make much sense when you look back at the teaser where the chapter name is revealed. In the teaser the drawings made by the kids say he gives them nightmares, are the kids...addicted...to nightmares? How does that work? Being addicted to something that gives you an unpleasant experience? And I doubt this was deliberate on the Playcare's part, like nitrous oxide at the dentist, the point of the gas would (or should) be to put the kids at ease and lower any stress and/or anxiety, not heighten it.
Even before Catnap breaths out the gas the critters REALLY seemed to want him to help them sleep.
A laughing gas?
No- it's a sleeping gas to help children put to sleep before being experimented on, or as we theorized. @@shoptorshienterprise5075
Well it would make sense with his name as well with it being a play o catnip, and if im not mistaken cats can get addicted to it
I just realized something...
when the door opens revealing Catnap at 2:24, the cat's tail is in the shape of a 3, like Chapter 3. I don't think it means anything new, but it's fun to point out.
No way you're right
@@legitgamer-gu1ny Another thing, at 2:45 Catnap's tail is in the same 3 shape, just backwards since we are seeing their back, as opposed to their front.
The Golden path phrase is really interesting. I'm in college for web design, and In Ui/UX design, that term is often referred to as the path of least resistance for a user. So it seems to me that this is kind of a way to ensure the children listen and don't question much or fight the workers.
Wow nice
Good insight.👏🏻
That VHS tape was definitely creepy the way the smiling critters were maniacally laughing when the sleeping has was administered. Cat nap is definitely an appropriate name all we need is the voice and to see how he’s going to be moving around.
imo it's more creepy if catnap didn't have a voice or was more animalistic.
@@vaniillazilla well considering cat nap might not be able to move his mouth just staying with the straight smile and hearing a voice come out of that would be creepy fs.
Right.
Their wide open gaping mouths freaked me out too. Nobody just holds their mouth open like that. They usually smile like that while showing their teeth. Can poppy gas make your teeth fall out?!
I’m imagining if he did have a voice the first time we hear it is him singing haunting lullaby version of the Smiling Critters theme.
Smiling Critters... I don't know why it took me so long to realize they're based off the Care Bears. They're terrifying. I love it.
childhood nostalgia hits harder than my mom's flip flop rn
Sock monkey, Betty spaghetti, and a care bear. Odd lineup but it works well.
The smiling critters begging for sleep was giving me kids who were addicted to the drugs in the gas and needing their fix. If you constantly drug kids they are going to end up addicted to it.
Righttt
THEORY:
Maybe the staff did wind noises to children on purpose to make them scared and sleep deprived, making them rely on CATNAP to sleep. So manipulation
This is Nestle level manipulative tactics. Oh Playtime Co. You're almost as evil as real life corporation
@@tatarchan5212 Like D*sney?
@@tatarchan5212Bruh wat
Why would they want them to be scared? Unless the red gas not only makes them sleep but gain psychological experiment properties (eg; Make Mommys possessor motherly and loving) so that when they get experimented as their assigned toy, they already act like wat Playtime wants them to act like? Hence they have to use the red gas. Is that too confusing?
@@behind.the.purple-eyes-gacha you don't know about baby formula dependant scheme that nestle did won't ya.
Make people depends on your stuff so you can control them.
I think when Catnap sprays the red gas and how the other smiling critters acted completely deranged and hysterical is probably the effect the gas had on the children of the Playcare. Seriously though the whole cult leader theory might be true considering how the other critters acted when Catnap arrived. They looked like addicts. Chapter 3 is definitely going to be on a whole other level.
Indeed. I don't think there'll be any black magic thankfully . .
@@goteamslugsmore realistic than faz goo
@@goteamslugsyeah I really didn't want this to turn into a magic or ghost game. We have enough "dead spirit comes back to haunt something" horror games. I like it, but I also like stuff like Poppy Playtime, which is all science and realism (obviously living dolls isnt realistic. What I mean is, there are no ghosts or magic involved. The dolls are truly alive, not possessed, and they were created through science).
Chapter three don’t do drugs
@@Oreca2005 What exactly?
Also yea, those kids are definitely susceptible to heavy trauma from being held at playtime co and being used for tests or whatever, and, of course, insomnia and sleep terrors are going to be common from that trauma. So, their solution to the lack of sleep is to just manually induce sleep so they don't have to deal with any trauma responses
Ya but this cartoon is terrifiying
The most "fist hit the ground" blatantly no brainer move I've ever seen from fictional corporation. Well other than Fazbear entertainment's solutions to Monty eyes(his eyes are sensitive to light? Give him a pair of shade)
No honestly I agree with this I think this whole vhs is LITREAlly an analogy of the kids in there bunk beds saying they can't sleep they have too much trauma cause remember those pictures in the other trailer then bam catnap comes in and induces with the laughing gas
@@tatarchan5212Lol
@@societiiiya lol its like a bunch of heroin addicts
I love how 80's the cartoon look. It gives me a nostalgic feel. Very 80's Carebears meets Happy Tree Friends.
THIS!
Not Happy Tree friends 😭
Yayy! Someone else thought of Happy Tree Friends while watching this!! Im not the only one! (i dont watch htf nor am i in the fanbase, only see a few memes)
@@derrickdaniels3955I thought of it when I saw this
If you noticed from the intro/label/thumbnail of the "Smiling Critters", all of them are waving expect Catnap, and, so that COULD mean that they are all friendly/willing to help the protag, except Catnap.
Another thing could be they're all calm and helpful until they get/inhale Catnap's gas, and since Catnap is putting out the gas, this also means they're the only one immune to it...
(Posted this before watching the video btw)
The intended characters of the toys probably don't correspond to the personalities of the real characters. There's no hint huggy and kissy actually get along. Mommy never mentions her family.
As for my theory about the gas, likely it will be a game mechanic of some kind. I was thinking though it may mean the player will be seeing things that aren't there. They may even have 'dream sequences', where we get to see more of the backstory of the main character. Guess we won't know until the game comes out.
On a side note, if they're going to have ALL of these characters appear as monsters in the chapter, that's A LOT of characters, especially considering that characters from the first two are going to be reappearing. Of course, most of them may be in minor roles, like how most of the characters introduced in chapter 2 are. There's six new characters in that (assuming you count all the wuggies as one), but only two have any real significance in the story. Likely this will be the same too. What are the odds that we're going to be switching between multiple antagonists throughout the chapter? Then again, it is supposed to be the longest, so who knows? Personally, I would've liked it if some of the characters from chapter 2 were fleshed out more, but mommy killed all of them save Kissy, so I guess we won't get to see more. On another side note, I would like it if they fixed their corpses so they aren't just t-posing, and look like they were actually assaulted.
@@lXBlackWolfXlWell PJ was spared, and the second chapter was recently tweaked visually so maybe they fixed the T-pose problem. Or not, who knows.
@@22Tesla The Yellow Buddy was also not present in the web, so maybe he escaped as well.
@@lXBlackWolfXlWell...Ik that but I can always make an AU
(in mine, Mommy/Marie Payne made the employees swear to not experiment on her family. They swore on their lives but didnt intend to keep it. They ended up experimenting on Andrew [Daddy] and Rodney [Baby] and now she wants to kill them as revenge. ITS CRINGE I KNOW I DONT CARE!!)
@@behind.the.purple-eyes-gacha creativity isnt cringe!! I like your AU and I imagine that's kinda why she went crazy in the end. She probably kept telling herself "what could I have done" in response to her family being experimented on, resulting in her being ruined by guilt.
Y'know with the poppies and now a "golden path" being incorporated, I'm getting a real Wizard of Oz vibe now. I always kinda did. Once they started to talk about how the dolls hair smells like poppies. Poppies don't really have a smell, but some do have opium, which in most case's isn't enough to do anything to you. Even the field of poppies in the Wizard of Oz would've have been able to really do anything realistically. But in those times, they gave opium to kids to make them sleep.
Also, golden triangle.
A part between Thailand, Laos and Myanmar where they trading drugs, especially opium poppy.
I can't decide if I'm more excited for Poppy Playtime Ch. 3 or the Tericho content that'll result 😂
Lol
So boring puppy play some chapter 3 is more
@@EOW318What is boring?
Also very disturbing that cat nap doesn’t sleep
Well cats are nocturnal they only sleep in the daytime
This cartoon is REALLY creepy. And it has some really big implications for the game.
In the one game trailer, we see all the Smiling Critter toys around the level with their heads missing. Really hints further that he doesn't see himself as part of the Smiling Critters or something else like how cats like to toy with their prey and maul them. It fits in with the cartoon, after the others pass out, Catnap is seen sitting on the couch, still awake as he's sitting up.
Oh gosh... imagine the implications of Catnap being an insommniac, as he puts everyone to sleep... except himself. Which could feed into his lack of empathy for his fellow smiling critters as lack of sleep messes with our ability to empathize with our fellow creatures.
Oh gosh, wait, I just remembered something else: one of the Smiling Critters missing their head is Dogday. I don't know if the others are (too lazy to look) but it sadly makes sense as the two are rivals: Dogday and Catnap have their spieces name at the start of their name (compared to Bobby Bearhug and Picky Piggy), cats and dogs are natural enemies, Dogday has a sun collar tag while Catnap has a moon, plus it's Dogday who grabs Catnap's tail to drag down into the title card.
Grabbing doesnt mean enemity
@@behind.the.purple-eyes-gacha I know, I'm just thinking it's a cause for Dogdays plushie getting beheaded by the big Catnap in the game. Like I said, I don't know how true what I said is, but that's just what I saw, and made a connection out of it.
It is also strange that ir seems there are two dog characters in the Smiling Critters group, if that green one is meant to be a dog and not a rabbit that is
@@22TeslaYa
@@22Tesla We do not if Catnap killed the little Dogday. For all we know, little Dogday could have died fighting huggy and his head was taken as a form of honor by the other (or as a martir to become part of the thing we se in teaser 2)
@@replacableVessel True, just speculating.
Catnap feels like such an obvious name I’m shocked I didn’t think of it
NGL, I thought he don't have a name because he isn't supposed to be commercially viable.
My headcanon. Catnap is the name of toy.
Sleeper is the name of monster.
@@tatarchan5212Hey nice! I was too used to calling him wat Matpat called him: Gassy Catty 😅😅Sleeper is nice, but in my headcanon, he's Catnap both ways. Can i hear about ur headcanon sometime?
@@behind.the.purple-eyes-gacha of course, in my headcanon. He is actually that kid Theodore aka "Ted" who get manipulated by Exp 1006 since very young age. Getting indoctrinated into being tools for Exp 1006. Ted believes that Exp 1006 is his special "nighttime friend" that only he know about and he is the chosen child who will be freed from Playtime Co.'s cruelty.
Ted's nighttime shenanigans under Exp 1006 manipulation has inspired many other kids to sneak around in the night and make Playtime Co. Reacted by planning the Catnap to be caretaker of children.
Ted is chosen because he is the bravest child who doesn't afraid of the dark(due his little adventure with Exp 1006), active in the night and actually care about other kids.
The smiling critters toyline is a failure one. Because of their absolutely horrifying gaping maw, lifeless void eye and creepy twisted grin. The reason we never ever seen them outside of Playcare related place. They're not marketable.
That's why they become mascot of Playcare, dumping those unwanted toy for unwanted child. And since all of them have theme that fits for the child development it's perfect.
Also, they managed to spin the failed toy into TV show. You know? Like strawberry shortcake, my little pony or care bear. In fact I believe that Smiling critters are very heavily inspired by care bear.
I think the gas has side effects on the children, besides making them go to sleep. Like it might make them go insane like how the critters did in the video, or they might gain an addiction to it over time. Like a dr^g.
Also the necklaces of the creatures seem to relate to their personalities, or things they do.
Elephant: A lightbulb to show that they’re smart/a quick thinker
Unicorn: A rainbow flower to show they’re creative, or have a colorful personality maybe?
DogDay: A sun that relates to their name
Rabbit: A thunderbolt which could mean they’re invested in athletics, or could mean they’re fast?
CatNap: A moon, since they help the kids sleep
Bobby BearHug: A heart, since he seems to be really sweet and caring towards his friends, like his name suggests
I’m not sure about the bird or pickypiggy though
Piggy is a picky eater. But it might also be the scientists saying the child that was originally in them was fat. That's why they have an apple. They're also shown to try and eat a hamburger.
The bird idk tbh, they have a star and are shown to surf. I don't assume they mean they're sporty since that's already the rabbits thing. Maybe they're "gifted"? As in they're a star ⭐ a gifted child meant for greatness? Or maybe they just have a lot of talents
The elephants name was confirmed to be "Bubba Bubaphant" earlier today
Bobby is 100% based on Tenderheart (Care Bears) given his theme, colour palette and that he seems to be in a somewhat leader-ly role in the episode?
@@JuanitoEsBonito I just saw that! Thanks for letting me know tho
I really, really like the idea that each Critter represents some kind of favorable attribute Playtime Co. was looking for in the orphans. Energy, Appetite, Artist, Coordination, Intelligence, Friendly… I also honestly love how much they remind me of CareBears and their cousins.
The 'golden trail' could be a codename the children made up for the train tracks that led out of the prison. Also, the 'catnap' could have been used as a way to get captured children to immidiatly fall asleep and not escape in the night, as well as to make it easier for the scientists to select kids in the night to be turned into toys.
I think I understand why the employees needed those big gas-masks. Poor children, treated like poultry in a factory (back in then they also used gas to make the animals go to sleep because they were too stressed in their cooped up places it woke up the other animals). Then dismembered and disembowelled to stuff them in toys. This franchise will really leave a mark in horror games if they keep this theme on.
Anyone notice that Catnap sounds a lot like Kidnap?
Or just catnip
Not until you pointed it out
It's really interesting that you pointed that out because I was literally thinking like what if the toyline for smiling critters had a scent. Each of them do have a little symbol around their neck, so what if they removed the catnap toy because kids were becoming addicted to the smell of poppies
Poppy playtime has gone dark... The pig is cannibal.
how do you know...
HOW DO YOU _KNOW???_
Oh wait, the pig eats a hamburger. Technically not canniballism, but pigs have been known to eat ANYTHING in times of dire need.
Unless it is plantbased/fake meat. Lol. Oh wait, it looks like an 80's cartoon. Never mind then, it is probably meat.
Wait arent burgers made from cows

So is Peter Porker
6:48 if you look at the hallway door, It’s either I’m crazy or you can see huggy standing there
I kinda see the lips so you're right
Your right I used ibs paint and made the colors more brighter and it matched huggy
The excitement I get every time I see a tericho notification 😆 thank you for the content 🙏🏼
Edit after the video: what if the prolonged exposure to the gas they used had like a joker gas effect and that’s why the “critters” (or children) are smiling in their sleep 🤔 just a thought that came to mind. A child wouldn’t be to scared of death if the person looked happy.
Ya true
Hysterical laughter before they sleep?
They must've hit quite a high.
TERICHO the spliced frame looks like the same cipher from the red death screens!!!!! also thank you for putting out this video, you’re the first one I’ve seen doing an analysis and I’ve been feral waiting for it
I'll have to compare tomorrow! 👀
@@Tericho Yay!! I also noticed something interesting in the Joel/Thomas transcript. They state that the maintenance door needs two people to open it. I imagine that at some point we'll need to be getting through that door, which to me implies that we would need an ally of some kind to help us, yeah? Poppy is always an option, but I think she would be too small to operate a grab pack (plus I don't think she's an ally to us in the first place).
This is kind of out of left field, but what if we gain assistance from DogDay? From a writing standpoint, he seems like a foil to Catnap. Dog vs cat, day vs night, sun vs moon. Additionally, in the first teaser trailer, we see a headless mini-Dogday, which could be implying that Catnap doesn't like him, since other than the stickers, we don't see any other Smiling Critters harmed that I'm aware of. Plus it's his doghouse that the TV show takes place in, and he's listed first in the voice acting credits, which could imply him being more important than the others. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it😭
if you slow down the VHS at the parts where all but catnap is shown (when catnap opens the door) look closely at the doorway of the hallway, creepy things go pass, you have to have the VHS slowed down to see it
I WAS RIGHT ABOUT HIS NAME BEING CATNAP. The mods kept muting me any time I said the name and now that this vhs is released you can finally say Catnap in the discord.
Also I think their name are based on their roles..so based on the names of all the critters this is what I think.
PickyPiggy: Picks out the child for experimental surgery
Bobby BearHug: Captures and restrain the child.
Catnap: Sedate the child with the Poppy gas anesthetic.
DogDay: Wakes them up from the Anesthetic with a different gas.
I think the human names are just the voice actors for the cartoon nothing to do with the lore.
Gary Wood sounds like 'Gary would....' As if he an instructor to say 'Do something i would do' probably like how top respond to certain stuff
Heres are my theory’s and analysis in this video
2:00 this scene is referring to the orphans trying to sleep knowing there are consequences
2:31 them telling catnap to make them sleep and going crazy in the process tells me that the twisted versions of these toys are worshipping the real catnap like a god
Do you think that the smiling critters are using the destroyed toys (i.e. mommy and bunzo) to build "suits" for themselves to better serve the prototype? If so then chapter 3 may show us that the prototype is willing to delve deep into such dark places. "It's best to leave some parts of the human imagination alone" -Duke

@@MixMaster83 Oh. Thank you.

@Relishedhotdog frankenstein suits for those creepy little bastards to use and hunt you down with.
Also it was very obvious to me that the Dogdays character is the leader/protag of the short. They seem the most mature. So if we get any allies, it might be them. If we get multiple it might be the whole crew
Also the fact that dogday is the only one animated at the end of the intro (he's waving and in the middle kinda in the spotlight) and at the start of the episode, it shows that the crew is sleeping in what looks like a doghouse
@@MeepDoesStuff Yeah exactly! Also I find the way he's sitting in the end a little strange. He seems to be in a more lounging position, sitting up instead of the passed out, dead, scattered around the floor the others are doing
6:19 The “face” being referred to here is in the top pentagon on the left side. It took me a bit to actually find it, but it’s there, just very subtle. Nice find, Tericho.
Edit: 6:33 I’m not sure I can see the Huggy silhouette being referred to here.
I cant see the silhouette
yeah I can't see it either
@@zombk.Right? Where is it?
I don't see it
The art and storyboard style really hit the 90's and 2000's feeling on the nose. Also, Smiling Critters reminds me of Care Bears!
Its not just sleeping gas. Catnap is a play on words for Catnip. Perhaps he drugs them or makes them high and that makes them laugh until they pass out or possibly die
I’m calling it now the smiling critters are gonna be that weird mishmash of parts from one of the teasers the ones with the small glowing eyes I get their gonna be puppeteering it
Smiling Critters: Laughing
Orphans: Screaming and Crying
I find it interesting, that they made the outside world a scary place by making it all dark and dangerous (branch falling). It’s like they want to make the kids get used to being inside with no windows. Sad really.
I also feel like Daydog and Catnap are you gonna be against each other. I don’t know, it’s probably because of the Sun Daydog has on his chest. While Catnap has a moon crest.
I realized that at 3:26 Catnap is standing with both hands/paws up just like Jesus in some paintings/portraits.
2:18 oh my god I’m wearing headphones right now and that knock made me take them off to confirm wether that was from the video or not lol😅😅
Catnap is like if the Joker was a cat.
The way the smiling critters look at Catnap was ..... VERY CREEPY 😰😰😰! At least to me, and the way all the critters were BEGGING Catnap to "spray them with the gas", made me think these children might've slowly became addicted to it.
P.s.: SOMEONE HELP THESE CHILDREN 😰😰😰😭😭😭!!!!!!
NGL, I'm getting HEAVY Russian Sleep Experiment vibes here. But, like, in reverse. Not to mention that the gas appears to have borderline addictive qualities l, as is seen with how hysterically they were laughing. Like, they literally can't sleep without the gas and they're hooked on it like a drug.
can we maybe talk about does necklaces they have on them? like Dogday has a sun necklace and pickypiggy has an apple, catnap has a moon Bobby Bearhug has a heart the bunny has a lightingbolt the chicken has something that looks like a star, oh and the unicorn has a rainbow flower and the elephant has a lightbulb. They could be something special that we need to pay more attention to, i haven't been on Poppy Playtime for a while cause I'm just waiting for chapter 3 so if seem dumb here then it is because I missed a lot of things
Its disturbing to think if the gas either makes you sleep and they were just really excited or if they “sleep” from over stimulation and exhaustion
the problem with force educating the students and turning them into employees is that if they aren't already interested in that subject, they'll do a poor job of it if they're forced further down the line
The critters look anxious like they don’t have a choice but say “sleep” like they don’t want to sleep but follow the orders
few things I noticed :
1. this might not be a big thing, but the windows at 1:59 & 2:03 feel really off to me for some reason- somewhat like the artificial windows shown in the recent images?
2. I wonder if the red gas we keep seeing is indeed some kind of an illegal drug? The crazed laughter of critters felt like the gas induced feelings of euphoria - we do know that opium (poppy) based drugs interfere with the brain. If so, I think this chapter might possibly get really, really dark
edit : now that I really think of it, I believe said drugs cause visual hallucinations too right? that would perfectly align with the "he gives me nightmares" from the teaser trailer we saw earlier.
Also, we know that strong drugs like morphine can cause coma if used in excess - Do you think that the gas was used to put the kids into a coma like state so it would be easier to run experiments
I showed my mom the VHS video and she said it reminded her of the care bear because of the different colors and the symbols on each one of them
Fun Fact: This was animated by another fan of Poppy Playtime, who did make it in analog horror form
Uhh no
I wanna give CatNap some catnip, see how he feels 😵💫🐱🥴
I am so pumped for chapter 3, SO SO PUMPED!!
Thank you for another fantastic video Tericho👍
my own theory : catnap wasn't the only 1 of the critters who was made into a living being my the bigger bodies initiative , infact ALL of the criters were made real by having children made into them . But , catnap IS the only one that can use the sleeping gas. My theory is that catnap controls all of the other critters who along with him caused the 'hour of joy' to happen .
BUT from the teasers , it can be seen that dog day has a bigger role than the other critters . I think that all the other critters except dog day will be working with catnap and will help it in hunting us down
As soon as I got the email about the official plushies of these little guys, I was waiting for a vid! Fantastic, I’m excited!
theory: In this chapter we can see a lot of "dead" huggys, but we couldn't see them before. I Think that there was a war between CatNap and company + experiment 1006 against Huggy, Mommy and maybe some other toys. This could explain why Mummy was so scared of 1006 and would also explain the hatred towards huggy. I also think that when we beat this toys 1006 will also appear stealing their parts (Maybe poppy teaming up with it, or maybe... she IS/controls it)
Just wanted to say thanks for the all the hard work on the vids Tericho
Why are these things soooooo cute in the cartoon! I JUST WANNA SQUEEZE THEM!!
8:30 it’s obviously The Horror, that’s why they were all laughing so hard at it after Peeping it
Dog and cat are completely opposites
Cat nap has moon
Dog day has sun
Ones a dog
Other cat
Dog always on bright side because sun is bright
Cat always on dark side because mooon is dark
That may be a far stretch because everyone like the cat in the vhs but I think I mean about how the cat acts creepy
Or that he’s always in the dark
IDEAS
Also beside the cat the dog seems like the leader of the group or the main critter because of how he wants to help everyone calm down and seems like the type of character to be that
Cat has moon because you go to sleep when moon is out
Wouldn’t it be fun if the dog didn’t like cat nap like trying to stop everyone from cheering up when they heard cat nap knock
Or that he tried to escape the gas
Oh and also imagine the cats face on the moon as a gaint moon or imagine he has a body to but you can still be able to tell his head is the moon so he doesn’t look like just a gaint and he just puts the whole earth to sleep
That would make the dog massive if he was the sun
Oh, I love this idea. I hope It actually plays out. I love the idea of dogday being like the leader of the critters, it makes total sense.
I was waiting for your video! I was like WHAT is Tericho is gonna think!!? I’m so excited
I wonder is there going to be a face off of Bron, the 7 critters and Huggy. This is gonna be a wild ep 3 I can feel it❤
I am excited for this chapter! Like mob games is spoiling us with new info about chapter 3 I can't wait for this chapter very soon! 💜✨️
I saw a comment on a video about the smiling critters post and the comment said “I swear if they don’t call the monster catnap”
He must be really happy he predicted it
Catnap is a hard name ngl
I love watching your Poppy Playtime theory/analysis videos so much! I can't wait to see your playthrough of ch3!
Also this VHS is horrifying, I love how it starts wholesome/innocent but goes insanly dark after Catnap unleashes gas
I do wonder now though how will this gas affect the player? Like let's say you go in on purpose without putting on gas mask, is it gonna drive you insane to the point you see hallucinations or you just die/get put to sleep
I'm soo hyped for ch3, literally cannot wait!!
I always called him Night-Night, but Catnap works too.
It’s so crazy, chapter 3 is looming near, I can’t even believe the chapter 3 gameplay trailer
Who actually really wants to have this as a show(nice theory tericho)

During the smiling critters logo, all the critters have their arms/arm out waving but catnap. Catnap is just staring/watching. 1:47
At 1:53 in the video, this may just be me but, the mat outside the house, the design on it kinda looks like huggys face. Like i said, it may just me or its the smiling critters face. Great video 👍👍👍
The Smiling Critters gives some huge My Little Pony vibes.
ngl - the creepy red mist and the end frame i would definily watched this when i was a kid sadly the day will never come because it a game teaser
Catnap is honestly the best name for this character
Nice video man!
Didn’t it come out like a few hours ago, man you work fast
I've been so looking forward to this theory video since the cartoon's release, so thank you Tericho. My original thought when I watched the cartoon was that the Hour of Joy may represent the time when Catnap puts the other Smiling Critters to sleep leading to them laughing manically (their version of joy, perhaps?). On a more morbid note, I originally thought that the Smiling Critters were actually dead at the end of the video, from the way some of them are slumped and laying. Could the faces of the children we see in other videos be those who have died because of regular exposure to gas? Will be interesting to see what else is released in the run up to Chapter 3.
Thank you SO SO SO SO much terry!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
this cat looks familiar? purple smiling guy with a golden key chain or badge?
and its a furry too
Maybe a theory
Theory: you know about the the smiling critters going insane and laughing maybe that is why the childern from the play care don't want to sleep and don't like the gas its cause they go insane and laughing and if you are a kid that is anightmare you don't want to be in
And maybe that is how the ganeplay in chapter 3 will have we have to get a mask for to stop the gas maybe if you go to the gas with out the mask the gas makes you go insane and you will have hallucinations that will make you loses
The way I was waiting for you!
Glad tericho is getting views he long deserved
The animation reminds of the 80's Care Bears when I watched them as a kid.
As for the gas, I wonder if it will be used to create hallucinations against the User. Kind of like the Scarecrow from Batman using something similar to create scary psychedelic effects on people.
Just imagine tripping and seeing Huggy Wuggy come at you when he's not really there.
Bro, this chapter is going to be downright TERRIFYING...
I think the other Seven smiling Critters is the children that got experimented in the playcare or in the orphanage... The Laughters that started louder and louder is maybe is rhe crying for help...
Love poppy playtime and your vids
Damn im early!! This Chapter is gonna gives up some hoops and scares to go through and im excited. Including that our enemy(s) will be interesting and how to combat them.
So that cartoon part of the ARG reminds me of how Thrillers/Horrors will depict Dr*g Add*ction, which fits concidering what Poppy Seeds make
Bro how are you seeing huggy in the vhs that gas must be getting to you bro 💀
lmaoo
I LOVEE THESE DESIGNSS
2:28 I don't know why but the part when they're smiling back a cat nap and 2:47 makes me all of the smiling friends had bigger bodies at some point and catnap took them all or they did it themselves for the Cult they worshiped
3:31 gonna be completely honest at first i didn't understand why the smiling critters were advertised as toys when they have such unsettling designs, but then i thought what if these were the poppy playtime universe's equivalent of something like the ugly dolls where they're intentionally creepy?
6:14 I don’t see the face of a kid how are you seeing a face of a child bro how
Matpat before this vhs video theorized that the antagonist would be a cat so he was right on spot
The laughter and gas is creepy, yeah, but what really stood out to me is these characters' designs. They look child-friendly and cutesy, but then there's the fact that all of them have pitch black eyes with white pinprick pupils; most of the time, they have zero mouth features, just a void stretched into the shape of a wide smile, meant to be inviting and friendly but just... wrong-looking.
No kidding. They are called "smiling critters" but.... no... that is NOT a smile. A smile has teeth, that's just a void.
The pony is different then the overs - the only one to look worried in the introduction, when the ellephent replace the love bear drawing with maths (then drawing paper turn in the moon of catnap🤔) toothy grin with eyes close, the only one to hide underneath something...
I love those cartoon shorts. They nail the promotional materials for Playtime Co and it’s honestly the reason why I follow this game.
I’m sooo excited to see how catnap will act and if he would talk or not, also same with the other smiling critters.
1:36 green rabbit or bunny at the start of the vhs reminds me of SPRINGTRAP AKA WILLIAM
