Love the books. Really, really miss the first narrator.
Not knocking it. This guy is good, just got used to the previous fella.
I agree it feels like a different story without the first narrator's voice
Yes. I must admit I miss the original voice of John Matherson. But with that being said.......very impressive story continues. Well done👏👏👏👏
Thanks for listening
If you do t mind me being nosey? What’s with the Bunnyymann?
Amazing story.
Narrator experience is like going from Nirvana to Alvin and the chipmunks
😂 Nirvana oh dear
LMAO...I think I'd prefer Alvin , Simon and Theodore over Kurt lol.
But this narrator aint that bad. Just different.
By the waters of Babylon. Incredible bit there that took me on a little rabbit hole before I could continue.
absolutely amazing so far.. people complain about new voice actor and thats silly because it does not change the amazing book ❤
it isn’t “silly” as you put it because though It doesn’t change the story, it does greatly affect some people hearing it! There’s literally studies and college courses on how the way you vocalize affects people the things you say😅
For those coming from Part 2, yes the narration is different as are the voices of the characters.
This however, does not take away from the great job by this narrator. A few chapters in, and we meet new characters
and this narrator does a great job with them and the story gets more engaging along the the way.
So hang in there, and don't let the different narrator turn you away from this great story and great narration
Truly have enjoyed these series!
Much appreciate then narrator who has taken time to read this to us with personal conviction and energy!
I also appreciate all of the people who put these stories together for us!
Thank you 🇺🇸
New voice or not I absolutely love it! People need to pay attention to this because this is what's coming to America really soon
lets hope so
This novel is centered around my immediate area, the landmarks and locations are spot on, very well done!
I like googling towns mentioned in American novels, Montreat and surrounds , look as beautiful as anywhere in the world. This one has to be the very best of disaster novels.
I agree , the best !!!
My family is from Shelton Laurel. This is literally my family's area.
Fantastic eye opening books
Thank you for posting

Got it
This is a fabulous series. Most times we take our present day way of life for granted. This series brings down to earth what life would/ can be like.
Great story w/o all the descriptive gore added. It’s made me more mindful of essential & necessary items & what might possibly be in our near future.
Thoroughly enjoyed, now on to book 4 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
Glad you enjoy it!
Ok I'ma try to say this with no spoilers ,soldiers last, really got me
Great story, i lit the fire place and had the whole family in the living room warmed from the fire with bowls of popcorn we sat quietly Nd enjoyed thid great story as a family while the snow fell outside.
We made memories that my kids will remember for the rest of their lives .
Cheers to the author for this story.
"Talk turkey" is an old school southern euphemism.
Great series
I got chills at "Sempra Fi"
I absolutely love this book series I have listened to it over and over and also bought the books ❤
Glad you enjoy it!
My only complaint is the inconsistencies in the accents. John should be a jersey accent and Dale only shifts back into a New England accent when the narrator is reminded hahah. Otherwise everyone sounds like Burnette.
Overall well done. I actually generally enjoyed this narrator more than the original.
UGH, The voice change is 100% killing it for me. John was from the North. Everybody now has a southern accent :|
peoples accent can change over time. I do think that the accents are a bit over the top for North Carolina. Im in rural alabama and we do not even use that much of a draw. and while southerners may be seen as dumb for the way many of us speak slowly in comparison to other areas of the country. the sheer amount of knowledge you can gain from talking to locals, on nearly any subject is quite staggering. i work as an engineer myself.
personally i feel that it would be awesome if audiobooks used people from the regions in books for narrators. i believe it would bring some great authenticity
that being said, the previous narrator did a wonderful job of switching between mannerisms, dialects, and accents.
I loved this storytelling
Me also 👍. Makes one put the thinking cap on lol. 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
find the story absolutely fantastic, I teach people to walk on the lines of what's about, and the fact that they just mentioned my hometown fort Wayne Indiana
Does anybody know the name of the author of these books? They're amazing!
William R. Forstchen :)
Very nice
Tell us stories of more and different areas going thru this EMP
This channel doesn't belong to the author or narrator. They're just posting audiobooks
Holy crap people, you didn't have to read it yourself, don't be so picky about the guy who did!
I really like how the author explores some subjects and shows both sides of the story..forced to be federal cannon fodder.
I couldn’t even finish the story after the narration change and I was so locked in. I don’t understand why they would do that.
A lot of it has to do with availability and ability to work out a contract. The first narrator is very well known. He also narrated The Talisman (and I think The Stand iirc). Sometimes it's the only way a channel can upload the rest of a series.
Thank you, Thank you......................
You are welcome, you are welcome 😁
Alright...fit over...well done on the British accent on the BBC.
😢not all narrators are created equal.😮
Take these series to heart. Buy ammo. Buy rice. Buy as much protein powder as you can afford. Consider solar battery charging. Buy a small gas powered vehicle like a motorcycle, old small car pre 1985. Keep your old generators going.
Fish hooks and line. Magnifying glass and ferrel rod for fire. Knives and sharpener. Salt.
Pre 1976 vehicle like listing to prepping channels . Some is good some is 🤔
Don't know what year this was written. But the duality of current politics is prevalent.
Good story. Just wonder why Matherson suddenly sounds like a Hillbilly ?
I guess 700+ days does that to ya lol.
@@nhagler01 LOL! That’s how I justified it
I asked that same question as I, being a Texan, am here in Pud Moines for 35 yrs, still SOUND SOUTHERN.
It's confusing I forget who's talking
I thought exactly the same. Suddenly it's a different voice actor? Or just forgot what the voice of the character was? I actually enjoyed this less because of the new voice :/
Different narrator
16:37 I can't even follow along anymore.... I can't tell which character is who... all the voices are different. 😢😢 such a good story. On to another audiobook somewhere.
Sorry for the inconvenience
@@StorySoundapocalypse I understand, just a big let down. Listening to The Dust right now though 😃. That's really good too. Keep the stories coming I really enjoy them. I just don't like when voice actors change in the middle of series, it's like a movie or show changing the main character, it's just not the same.
Does anyone know the zombie one with Shrek the dog. "The ghost that kills in the night. It's just what he does"
I loved that's series.
Lost Valley by Walt Browning.
Schreck, he's not green 😂
Excellent Audiobook! One of the best! "I am Shrek!"
@brandonedwards6438 thank you very much
Wait I'm confused. Is this the second book of the series even though it says part 3? Because the first book is 12 chapters if I remembered correctly
Yes
I find that most of this story is about soldiers and doctors and school and students . It's different than the other emp audio books and dividing up states .
Some of the other ones constraint on the east coast and west coast This constraint on the middle of the states .
I was not particularly fond of the new narrator but as the story goes on he is doing a good job. I wish he would have done better with the different accents as the First Gentleman, but he is doing a great job. I just chalked it up to the (unlikely) fact that John’s accent changed due to stress and even though he has been there for years, he is going native. As they say.
Why so little said about fishing, other than the end of 2 that is? They spoke of the coast but, NC has bookoos of rivers, lakes & streams. Maybe I just missed it...
I wondered the same. Having grown up fishing ponds, lakes, rivers, and the gulf I'd definitely eat well.. the author definitely wasn't aware of how accessible fish is to us on the south.
To each their own. Some like frozen dinners over homemade. Some like canned biscuits over homemade. Hell some people shave off their eyebrows just to draw on some! How can we all be so different yet still be the same species?
It would be interesting,if several different narrators ,male and female were used for the various characters.
Like "Old-time" Radio. .
Would add a little realism, even though it is Fiction
The chairs against the door and the sun is rising in the west
😮
So how come half way thru John lost his accent and now talks southern. I am from south and been up north for 30 yrs still talk southern
Well originally John had a Jersey accent, so really I'm not sure how we got from a Jersey accent to a Southern accent. I don't think this is the original narrator though, so that could be why.
Yeah, I thought they switched readers/ narrators
Sounds like it's a different narrator for the last part too. There don't seem to be any Southern accents at all at the start of part 4 now. All the changes do make it a little hard to stay invested. Kind of like if your favorite character in a movie keeps getting recast but the writers expect you to believe the newly cast actor / actress is still the same person. 😑
He was mimicking his captor.
The voice actor change is off. John has a Jersey accent. Not a southern drawl.
Yes I loved the original narrator, but this one is fine as well. Still enjoying the story.
Obviously the voice actor didn't listen to the first book. John is from New England not the south. Big difference in accents.
Jersey isn't New England, It's the Northeast. New England is from New York and above
John Matherson's character is supposed to be from New Jersey. This new narrator, however, has him speaking with Southern drawl, which makes no sense.
Michael Hopf is the author of these books. Applause to this "Bard"
A movie could not possibly portray this story. But I would watch it nonetheless.
This is incorrect. The Author is William R. Forstchen. It is available on Audible for £7.99 for members who pay monthly or £17.99 for non members. So, be thankful it’s not costing you. You can make a contribution. I just did. Also, the narrator changes on Audible too.
Who is the Author?
Research as thorough as Michael Crichten, or Dan Brown.
Amazing.
William R. Forstchen.
I believe it’s gonna happen.
With every book there a dumb ass part. If you’re here you know in book one they executed people for something as little as stealing food. Here we are in book 3 and they don’t execute people for war crimes against women and children and civilians. I can’t write but if I could I promise I’d never write something so stupid. For that alone it pushed my 9 down to a 7.5 overall in this series. It’s not just that tho
At first voice seemed not as good , but he actually is better. This is south of the Dixie line after all.
7:45
John is a Damn Yankee ( a northerner who settles in the south😊). Why does he have a Southern accent now?
It happens
Great story but the Voice actor butchered John's voice, with zero inflection or intensity. Why does he now have a slow southern draw, like a Matthew McConaughey impression.
👍🏻🍻
William Foereschtner.?
William R. Forstchen.
Urban areas. The 6%. Savages.
Imagine if the US decided to conquer the world after world War 2 when we were the only ones who had the bomb. Europe was in shambles, China wasn't even a power then(it was too interested in fighting itself after the Japanese left). Japan was subjugated. The soviets were under Stalin who just sent 40+ million men to die to win the Eastern front... we could have done that. We didn't. We rebuilt Europe with the marshal plan, we also offered to help to help russia but they liked having most of Eastern Europe instead
Maaaann I can tell buddy tryn but damn... where my nigga from the 1st two?🤦🏿♂️
Who is The Author?
William R Forstchen.
Bm 7:35:00
Could someone tell me the authors name please?’ !!!
William R. Forstchen.
Ah.. fuck em
This book is based in the usa why get rid of the old voice huy this new one is to britsh
Did the original narrator need a break? That is odd..
........
Loved the first two parts. With in 20 minutes i caught two really silly mistakes.
First, the Etsil, sorry, most likely misspelled, the old car went from a 1958 to a now incorrect 1959 model.
Second, somehow the main character john grew an inch to 6'5.
I suppose a third mistake was America's population going from 30 million in part two up to 60 million in part three.
Editor's...do better.
That's a good point. You should write the actual author and tell him that.
@@meemurthelemur4811 sorry. My bad
@@andrewbaillie7417 np. It's a common misconception when the channel doesn't give credit to the author and narrators and accepts praise for how good the story is. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate having access to these books for free as much as anyone else. It just irks me when proper credit isn't given.
😊🎉❤😂😊
If it wasn't for the fact that I enjoy this book I would've stopped here... the voice actor change ruined it
Agreed.. we need the guy from the first one.
According to this series. We are in fact the bad guys. Not you or me listening or watching. Our government sucks.
The only problem I have with this reader is his "English"accent. That sort of plummy voice hasn't been heard on the BBC since the '50's,it just wouldn't be accepted. There are many regional accents across the U.K.
Great series but change in narrators changed the story a bit😢
Have to agree with others. This voice actor is not as good as the first one. Defently lost that Boston voice, he turned the main character into a little southern sounding... 😢 The first 2 parts were great... ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
This one... ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Due solely to the bad voice actor.
Unfortunately, the change in voice actor really made me dislike this audiobook as he just doesnt sound great.
Oh quit ya bitchin 😎😂👍
I find you get used to it and the locutor is actually quite good.
I agree. In the other books the narrator even changed the accent to reflect he was from New Jersey. Apparently this guy didnt read or listen to the other books.
Was an excellent episode, I missed the original narrator at first too. But this was a powerful writing
It made no difference, this was the best part so far, sadly to real.
Sad sad the new voice actor makes it impossible to continue. It was a very good read for the first two volumes. So sad good bye.
I didn't like the change either but the story is so good I stuck through and an glad I did
Sorry for the inconvenience.
no randy, come back. its ok, the story reamins good and the new guy reading aint so bad
All this narrator nonsense! If you don’t like it don’t listen. Go and buy the books and read them or pay for Audible. Bet non of you moaning Minnie’s have made a financial contribution to the channel? Entitled much? As a Brit I prefer the mid Atlantic narration and I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen for free.
I agree. It’s free here and not too many ads. It’s expensive on Audible.
The narrator also changes on Audible.
I like the new narrator. Kinda reminds me of Matthew McConaughey. I like Matthew McConaughey. He is sexy. 😊
The reader is not good really
Not a fan of stuffy English voices.
WHAT? .....The narrator changed. Terrible
Don’t like the voice for this one :(
