    One major flaw with the W204 (and some other Mercedes models) is that the rear subframe is prone to corrosion. Fortunately, this should be covered by the corrosion warranty which as recently been extednded to 20 years in the US (it is 30 years in Europe) so all such affected W204s should be covered at the time of writing (11th July 2023). My own 2009 C200 had the rear subframe replaced under warranty. Aside from this the W204 is great car.

      I bought my 2012 C300 Sport package in 2014 with 20,000 miles. Now have 97,000 miles. Overall great car. Have had to replace brake pads/rotors, heater fan motor, steering lock failed (very common) worst thing is the rear subframe rusted out. Expensive to fix but just recently, MBUSA is covering the subframe under warranty. Oh, and the cheap leatherette interior was a letdown. The seat bottoms come apart at the seams. I replaced them for about $350. The car is sure footed on the road, rides great, handles great. My daughter drives it now and loves it.

    The leather itself holds up well, but be careful with jeans-they are prone to tearing at the seam. Unfortunately, replacing this with a genuine Mercedes part is outrageous. Like, 50% current market value of the vehicle outrageous. I got a knock off and you initially couldn't even tell a difference, but now (1 year later), it is evident that the drivers seat is shiny and worn in, while the others are as matte and taught as the day the vehicle left the showroom.

    • @joanm.2987
      @joanm.2987 Před 2 lety

      @@Fatkidlovecake Not so easy, I’m afraid.
      As per my long experience in the automotive market, at least in Spain and I’m 72 years old, these kind of cars cannot repaired by any mechanic, and good skilled mechanics are really missing. Most of them, merely try to solve the problem by changing parts and “guessing”….. because they lack the specific tools to attend serious issues of modern cars.
      At least, when repairing at MB workshops I get the confidence that any of their workshops, even in other country, will attend warranty repairs. Two weeks ago, being in France, a MB service attended me at cero cost to diagnose and solve a problem with the Becker gps malfunction which was previously badly updated by another MB service in Spain 3 months ago.
      However, this MB car is a nightmare and being my only experience with MB I will not repeat this brand for my next car. I still miss all the Audis I had at full satisfaction during my working life, and a Volvo as well…….
      By the way, MB still is having problems on water pumps in new C models. See their web for recalls at these days. Huge problems.

      @@joanm.2987 what ever helps you sleep at night knowing you could have spent $300 to fix an issue at any other mechanic shop vs a MB dealership. I have 2 Benz one old 2002 c200 komoressor import from Japan and a 2009 c300. You are just so wrong with all due respect there are so many mechanic who work on Merced and do a better job because they care more then the mb mechanics. My fuel pump on my c200 just the pump alone they gave me no options but an imported pump was $700 just for pump and $300 labour the labour is 15 minutes 🤣🤣. Its right under the back seat. You are not driving a Tesla you don't have to go to the manufacturer and pay up the ass for basic work. Even a simple oil change is 189.99-220 vs 120 at my mechanic. You are a sucker and don't know anything about cars or Mercedes if you are not getting your car fixed from Vladimir or mark from Poland

      @@joanm.2987 Instead of paying $1000-1200 I paid 250 for a new pump and paid my mechanic 30 minutes of labour I ended up paying $300. Every single piece of work done is insured by warranty and the shop. You do nothing for yourself going to the mb dealership. Take my advice learn from someone who works on cars for a living. Although I don't specialize in Merced they are not much different and are sometime as easy as Lego for example my c200 is the easiest car to work on and can take almost any c200 w203 part from 2000-2006. Mercedes knows this but gave me no options. Every single time I go to mb for a quote I take the information to my mechanic have him laugh and how much of a scam the price is and to do the same work for half the quote. Merced charge you for every second you breath inside there shop I swear . My water pump, thermostat replacement and flushing was quoted at $1500 I paid $700

    -Transmission modules can malfunction on facelift gen.
    -Pre facelift cam and magnet sensors leaks to watch out for, similar to everything on the w211 except the fuel pump.. For now...
    -The takata air bag recall for both to make sure is done or if was inquired to a wait-list at any local dealers to replace...
