The unemployment gap therefore measures the racial differences in who hiring managers refuse to hire despite applications and qualifications. Jobs are a path to careers. Too many of my people feel that most jobs are beneath them and would rather sit on the sidelines. Won’t crawl before they walk. This is more about black culture norms than racism. As a black man, am I racist if I interview you and notice a poor demeanor, tattoos, criminal record or some crazy hair? You can get a lot of jobs with all those flaws, but that’s your ceiling. That’s self-inflicted, not racism. Everyone must start with a job and learn rules, expectations and protocols so that when a career comes available you’re a suitable hire. Miss me with the racism BS when far too many of us simply won’t eliminate ourselves from the workforce for the same reason we have a limited dating pool. You may have had a good opportunity finding your footing in this world, but some of us did get affected by the systematic racism that you claim is false. Don't know if your black or white, don't matter neither. But I would hope if you are black, don't point fingers at other black men and boys and claim you know their plight when your still just one man and can only speak for yourself

POW’s? 🤣 Next you’ll say that people born and raised in the ghettos are POW’s. If you are industrious in the least you can thrive. Only the feeble and the lazy STILL blame their misfortunes on others. Who cares what system is in place, go around it. I know many underemployed and poor black people who, when you peel back the onion, were and continue to be in their own way. No white person have ever blocked me from success. Sure, some may have wanted to, but it doesn’t work on free-thinking, motivated people. Stop blaming white people for generations of single motherhood, poverty, criminal activity, gang violence and intellectual laziness. I’ll make it as simple as this: I bought stocks of the company I work for with my stimulus checks. How’s that for the white man holding me back, Mr. Weed???

But for the record, Racism for the benefit of holding people like me back does exist. Your one way boxed perception sounds good to a white person ( you know the whole strap your boots saying ), but to us who really feel and live thru actual racism here in America can attest to the evils involved. There's a definite number of people who will fail this test. So when the economy is good, the unemployment rate gap should narrow significantly. Instead, the unemployment gap by race has generally remained consistent for nearly 100 years. The consistency of the gap is a reflection of the fact that a core percentage of hiring managers over the past century will only hire a limited number of black men vs white men, even during the good times when money is flowing and is more accessible in the economy. The unemployment gap is perhaps one of the best measurements of racism.

Then, they invest in themselves through education which is a risk. A risk many Black men aren't willing to take. Invest in real estate, stocks, work together on business etc. These are all things that are risks that women are willing to take and most Black men just see debt. Coming from low income neighborhoods, family troubles with law/crime and not participating in school taking classes seriously plagues many black man as well. It's unfortunate to say, but institutional racism is not the sole reason behind mishaps for black men in our country. Culture is apart of it too. Like they said in the video. Incarceration is a problem and when black men see others going that route. They don't have good family members and educational opportunities around them. Culturally that's what they know.
