I think it would have been helpful to mention you need to pay an ongoing subscription for Oura otherwise it’s a very expensive paperweight. Just my 2 pennies…
This is a great series idea! Really enjoyed this format. Having two people for possible differing opinions. No section was too long and covered a good quantity of items. Would like to see more of these in the future.
I loved the format of this video! A true review! I gotta say, this has been my favorite video since I've started watching you guys. The discussion and testing is great!
@@PackHackerthe Oura ring! Just kidding…the Bpluma Travel Bottles (looks cute) and the Travel Hangers. The travel hangers was a bit of letdown. Was interested in it as we had shortage of hangers for our kid’s clothes back on our trip to Cancun last week. The one featured on TikTok looks more functional though. Sucks that it isn’t available now.
I think this is my favorite Packer Hacker video I've seen to date - it's great seeing your expertise applied to these products in detail (such as what details to look for) vs a specific list of high-end travel gear. Hopefully more of these to come!
For the Riemot Luggage Cup Holder, I personally only use it when I'm sitting at my gate waiting for the plane. Most of the time when we travel, it's hard to find a place to put your drink(s) and my other half and I are able to have a drink hands free at our gate. I then just stuff it in my backpack or stuff it in the suitcase when it's time to board.
Luggage covers......I have fabric ones (not plastic) that I use to keep my luggage clean but also to make it super easy to identify on the luggage belt. It has zippers on both sides so that you don't have to worry what side the handle is on..... However on my last international flight my suitcase was so badly damaged (from overpacking) that if I didn't have the cover on my belongings would have been scattered EVERYWHERE!!! I am so grateful for mine.
This was really fun to watch! I hope you do more of these. I think a lot of your viewers are like me- they'll never travel to the extent that you do, so a $400.00 backpack is just never going to happen. But to have serious travelers review these tiktok items and give their honest opinion is really helpful. It's nice to know that it's not all junk and that some of it's actually worth thinking about.
Great video! This is the perfect topic for something lighter and unscripted, I’d love to see more of these. Also, it’s great to get multiple opinions - I know it’s much more feasible/economical to only have one person doing most videos/reviews, but every traveler is different, and getting multiple takes even within the Pack Hacker team makes for great content. More, please!
As someone who travels a bit differently than you folks, but quite a bit, I would say that the folding hangers are incredibly useful and do not take up a lot of space or weight. When you sink wash and you want to hang things to dry over the shower curtain rod, these really do the trick. A lot of times there are no hangers or they are deliberately designed to be too small to fit over a normal rod or they are the kind that hook into a permanently fixed hanger. Socks and bras will hang on the little hook parts and you can get multiple things on 1 hanger. I would not travel without at least 3 of these. They are even more useful with a couple of clothes pins which also do not take up much space or weight and are useful for many things. Also I like your backpack reviews but am becoming increasingly frustrated with 2 things which are not important to you but vital to me. I need a trolley strap on the back of the backpack. I can't carry a backpack for very long - I'm a lot older than you folks and it isn't possible for me anymore. I travel with a carry on size suitcase and a backpack. No trolley strap means I won't buy the back pack. It is hard to find a top quality backpack that also has a trolley strap and is a personal item size. If you have a trolley sleeve, you don't need the cincha belt. Also I don't carry a laptop anymore - just a tablet. A laptop sleeve is basically wasted on me. If I could find a quality backpack with a nicely padded tablet compartment only and a trolley sleeve which is a personal item size (i.e. 18 inches tall), I would be very happy. BTW: Back in the olden days, suitcases came with a detachable strap that had a specific fitting on the top of the suitcase to hold the strap and the other end was a loop with a buckle that you could use to strap another suitcase or back pack to and then you could pull both of them at the same time with no issues. I don't understand why these were dropped - cost I suppose.
I really enjoyed this video, it was nice to see an honest opinion on these items. I think many of the CZcamsrs out there are just slaves to consumerism and don't really think about whether an item will work long-term.
Like Tom, I would probably only try the lint roller. I truly value his opinion. And, in my older age, my purchases and what takes up space in my home are especially important.
The format of the video was great, it was honestly nice to see your gut reactions first hand and at least for somethings seeing what you guys might wanna take the time to test later or see what could end up in a future video.
Really enjoyed this video! TikTok has so many sponsored posts and ads now that it's hard to figure out what's actually good---but happy to hear from the OG travel packing reviewers. Confirmed my thoughts about that backpack (and its issues) in spite of it being mega-viral
I have a reusable lint roller that I got from Amazon. It’s a TPE ball that sits inside a holder and you just run it under a tap and let it dry to use again. Some people might consider it bulky but it fits inside my travel laundry bag (with those coat hangers that you also reviewed as well as laundry sheets and a small sewing kit)
I have the drink holder and LOVE it. I put my coffee, phone, charger, cables, passport and boarding passes and am hands free. Great to avoid juggling a million little things in check in line and onto plane. For me indispensable and packs flat once you get to seat.
The cup holder over the handle of your luggage I got as a gift. I haven’t taken it when I have flown, but I take it on car trips. I like to travel with coffee and water when I start out in the morning. The holder makes it much easier to get out of the motel room in one trip.
My cousin has the travel belt, not from Cincha, just a knockoff brand from Amazon, it works great for her. I have the travel hangers way before TikTok, I take 2 or 3 with me, some hotels only give you 4 to 6 hangers and my travel partner usually has 10 thousand outfits to hang. The hangers are very lightweight and don't take up much space in the luggage. Love this episode, you guys probably travel more than most of us, it's nice to hear the real travelers' opinions on these products.
I like this concept it keeps people from getting ripped off to all be it on your dime Tom lol this was a fresh change and cool video! I watch your guys video on repeat all the time I am a gadget and bag nerd ! So I am always curious about these types of gadgets.
I’m in agreement with the other comments here that enjoy this format. It’s nice seeing reviews of these products through a well-traveled lens. It’s also so nice seeing y’all’s authentic reactions and emotions without the constraint of a script. I’d love to see more of these genuine moments. Signing off with some 7:49 energy Peace ✌🏼
I actually do like the backpack in the beginning. I have a newer version but it’s a nice (and cheap) option for budget airlines. I fly spirit for weekend trips to orlando and the bag is perfect as my personal item. I use the shoe compartment for my dirty clothes… I also never bring a laptop and use that compartment for my folder with all my paperwork. I always print out my hotel info and park stuff.
I have carried a strap with a clip bullet in the front of my suitcase for years not only is it handy for clipping your bag in the handle but also to put two rolling bags together to pull them both at once... you don't need one that fancy though.
The coat hangers are the best item in your video. I haven’t yet ordered anything from tik tok. It’s mostly from Amazon where most of my travel stuff comes from. Some nifty things on there inc. the hangers.
I really liked the (slower) pacing of this video and the reasoning that went into the answers. Important things like quality materials and just feel. Some items would be good for other cases, like the blanket on the plane - if it's a good quality. I'm not bringing a coat with me to a beach trip. Or That all in one plug, I'd definitely recommend something like that because you can charge multiple devices at once (we're a family of three) so 3 phones, a battery pack, headphones don't all need separate chargers. I've definitely wanted a drink carrier while getting coffee for me and my husband and I had my roller bag with me. Bag + 2 coffees is not enough hands. But it would have to be a really slick device just to fill that very short need. I would enjoy more review videos like this but it doesn't have to be tiktok stuff either.
Saw a video recently on Camping products available at Ikea, where they chose items available there that would be appropriate, and rugged enough, for that kind of adventure that folks could get on a budget. I would love to see your take on this as some of the items they chose were travel-oriented, incl some packing cubes!
The hangers are good when you are visiting friends, you know you will be going out to social events and therefore packed appropriate dress clothing, but your hosts don't have enough hangers for you. Had this happen to me and there was no iron, so, yeah, had to go out as a wrinkled mess. Yup I did buy some (long before they ever showed up on TikTok) and only take them when I know I will need them.
I actually have the clear suitcase cover and they have had to open up my suitcase in security mine has Velcro on the bottom so it is easy to take off. It covers my pink suitcase from getting dirty. I love it
for hangers I use Ikea's slib clothes pin with Muji's foldable hanger (which looks like a flat candy cane) other wise ikea's slib clothes pin with loops alone is hella versatile
