  • Mister Rogers Neighborhood - Exploring the set - I heard about Mr. Rogers set on display at The Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh about 2 years ago and knew I needed to visit. Like many of us, I grew up watching Fred Rogers on TV. The trolley, the puppets like King Friday and Daniel Tiger, and the people like Mr. Mcfeely were a huge part of my childhood. So glad to have had the chance to finally see this in person! RIP Mister Rogers.

Back in September 2015, I drove over to Latrobe, Pennsylvania to visit Unity Cemetery and the mausoleum where he was laid to rest. You can't get inside, but you can look through the door, and he's just inside on the left. I was talking to him just like he used to talk to us through the camera. It was really hot and humid that day, and at one point, I said out loud that it was really hot and that I might need to cut my visit short. Right as soon as I said that, the wind changed direction and turned nice and cool. Needless to say, I believe he was with me that day on my visit.

The pianist, or one of them, was the music director for a summerstock theatre I acted and I wrote a children's show, Beema Zomp! for: Kearsarge Theatre, Warner, NH. It's actually really cool that these pieces were purchased and preserved.
This reminds me of when I was little and I'd stay home from school cuz I got sick or whatever happened, I would always watch this show. I'd be laying down on the old white couch we used to have. My grandmother coming home to see how I'm feeling. That was a long time ago, sometimes it feels like a different lifetime.
Thank you for sharing this with us

This is such a neat tour of the set! And a beautiful tribute; if anyone truly earned a Lifetime Achievement Award, it was Fred Rogers. When the 'Won't You Be My Neighbor?' documentary came out in 2018, my mother and I were so moved when we learned about the efforts Mr. Rogers made for PBS funding and how much he advocated for children's programming. I was born in '71, and was among that first generation of little ones to love the show. My mom often watched it with me. :)

He made such a positive impact on such a large scale, even after his death.. Notice on CZcams in every video of him, the comments are so polite and respectful, where usually on YT things get pretty ugly. It's like no one wants to disrespect his legacy.
