If you heard el Guanacaste or Liberia these town were part of Nicaragua territory once. Furthermore Nicaragua has a lot of influence on Costa Rica. A few years back I was planning a trip here for me and my then 8 year old son, but they got into some political turmoil. Glad to see things have stabilized some. It looks like a fun place to travel to..

We hired a taxi for our ride
which would you recommend if you had to pick between the volcano boarding and visiting ometepe?
This is very tough, it depends on the vibe you want on your trip. If it is adventure we'd recommend the volcano boarding. But Ometepe was some of the most peaceful experiences we've had.
I think I forgot to mention that I thank you guys for mentioning that there were no cobble stone roads there because that makes a huge difference on luggage !! Lol Also for people with mobility issues like my mom !! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶✈️ Nicaragua 🇳🇮 💕💞

Yes, you're right! The rain can definitely affect the visibility of the sand bar. Mother Nature can be quite unpredictable sometimes, but it's still a beautiful place to visit regardless of the weather!

For the volcano boarding, how long did it take to get up the volcano? Was it challenging to get up there?
It was about an hour hike, my wife says it was challenging. She did not hold up her board the entire time. Well worth the visit though
