Let’s face it. None of the Arlo cam live view is actually live.

Does Arlo purposely cripple functionality unless you pay for a monthly subscription? I bought and installed a 2nd Gen doorbell/camera and do not have a subscription and I'm finding that I can't even set it up to take a snapshot when someone comes to the door. Perhaps I'm missing something, but I think if it's as limited as it seems then I probably wouldn't have purchased this. Maybe I'll change my mind after further investigation, but so far things look bleak.

I ordered mine on pre-sale and it's not shipping yet...how did you get yours already?

@@johnaliceahn4819 My apologies and thank you! I THOUGHT what I had received was a 2nd Gen, but it seems it is not! It's model AVD2001.
Thanks for the correction - though I think the limitations I'm seeing aren't something that will be addressed in the 2nd Gen, it just the limitations of my not having a monthly subscription. I think I'm going to need to go with an NVR based solution personally.
Best of luck to you! If you will be getting the monthly subscription plan I think you'll be more than happy with the Arlo, it's just not the solution for me! 👍

@@johnaliceahn4819only difference in the plan vs not only being able to see real time video, cant share the video and no 24/7 security monitoring. The plan itself is only 3.99 though if thats what you want. I only use mine for real time and to speak to whoever is at the door.

I have the arlo first gen and the real time video is awful. It rarely load and I get a mostly grey screen.

Any chance it may be your home network? My real time video seems okay. I upgraded my router a few months ago and I find that a lot of issues I was seeing with smart home devices went away post upgrade. Good luck!

    will it be matter enabled?

I don't understand your comment. I ordered the 2nd Gen arlo essential 2k camera for $100, not bad. The only thing I couldn't find is what type of charger it will use. Micro USB or USB C.

@@JuNlethalpoet if you don’t understand my comment then why reply. Matter enabled is a system that you connect seamlessly with different eco systems like apple home, google home and amazon etc. I know what I’m asking and Arlo does too. You can always google matter enabled to see what I’m talking about. My whole house is secured with Arlo. From Cameras, doorbell, and security system.

@LaLasWorld010 your reply sounds like 2 things. Informative and kind of rude. I replied to your comment because I didn't understand, and I wanted to understand what you meant. I'm an I.T guy and haven't heard the term. I use arlo also. I install arlo for my customers also. I think it's a great product. I've used it since about 2018, and the improvements year after year are awesome.

@JuNlethalpoet I thought you were being rude. But yes matter just let's you connect ur cameras to your Apple TV and you can watch ur cameras on ur TV. So far the doorbell they have and seems like the new one isn't matter enabled either. Meaning I can't see the doorbell on nothing but the arlo app or Google home hub. Doesn't work with all the Apple home kit and others. Right now it's just the cameras. Sorry for my somewhat rude first reply🤗🤗🤗

@@LaLasWorld010I’m not sure about Matter, however I was just on a chat with an Arlo tech who said that once these new models receive an update to become compatible with the Smart Hubs (and not just wifi) they should also receive HomeKit support
