  • ℹ️ ABOUT THIS EPISODE:
    We made our way to Iowa right before Thanksgiving to spend time with our family and wrap our huge Grand Design Reflection 315RLTS 38' RV! It was a massive undertaking and it took quite a few people and about 3 weeks to accomplish. But...it looks AMAZING! We can't imagine doing this tour without it. A MASSIVE THANK YOU to SportsGraphics and their entire team for their incredible work. You can find out more about them here: www.sportsgraphicsinc.com/
    We decided to use the 3M 2080 Satin Dark Grey as the material to wrap the RV. This stuff is awesome! It's such a big improvement from the 1080 material, and was very forgiving for a bunch of guys who have never wrapped an RV before. We also used the 3M Knifeless tape on the front of the RV to ensure we could get a clean install on top of all the contour lines. It turned out so great!

    Very interesting process to watch. I work for a public transit agency but never have seen the wrapping process. I can bet none of our buses were done in the middle of Iowa in a huge equipment shed 😆, looks great and what a way to start your journey being blessed like that.

    Where did you find that car wash that you could pull a camper into like that? You made removing the decals look so easy. Mine is a 2016 and I doubt they will come off that easy. I want to wrap the doors, all of them, due to fading.

    Almost forgot if you guys are thinking about one of those portable power station I just got one after a week of research. Thankfully I was a Ham Radio operator ant at my start an electronica tech so I speak fluent Battery. Get one that has the newest lifpro4 batteries in it. They can be cycled 3500 times as apposed to 500. I went with the BLUETTI but Golabs makes good ones too. You can charge a lot of stuff off them. Also run a coffee maker at the same time. I remember you could not make coffee during our big freeze here in Texas. Lol

    I have seriously been thinking of doing our 40'TT and am wondering what this would cost to have a shop do. I don't think I'd try to do it myself. Lol

    • @PawsForLove
      @PawsForLove  Před 2 lety

      We definitely recommend having a shop do it because it is a ton of work and there are certain areas that require special skill to wrap. If you are looking to change the look, getting it painted would be the better way to go. The wrap costs around $10k-15k to have a professional shop complete it. A paint job will run about the same amount, but it’ll last much longer.

  • @davidspencer6143
    @davidspencer6143 Před 2 lety

    Can I ask where you purchased the wrap? We are looking to do something similar but for the front portion of our RV

    • @PawsForLove
      @PawsForLove  Před 2 lety

      Hi David! Our family actually helped us do this wrap. It’s a 3M Vinyl wrap and you could call a local wrap shop to see if you could purchase the materials through them!

  • @cmez7077
    @cmez7077 Před rokem +1

    Did they lay the wrap over where the seams are caulked or did they remove the caulk first?

    • @PawsForLove
      @PawsForLove  Před rokem

      Great question! We did it over the caulk. However, after having this for a year, I highly recommend removing the caulk, laying down the material, and then re-caulking.

    How much were the quotes you got, out of curiosity. Have thought about doing this for our camper

    • @PawsForLove
      @PawsForLove  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Justin! They ranged, but the lowest quote we got was $10,000. The highest was about $13,000. But, if you were to look at just straight material cost, it was about $3,000 for our 38’ trailer. That’s the 3M 2080 material with some additional tools and supplies like the knifeless cut tape.

  • @random123outburst
    @random123outburst Před 3 lety +3

    Out of curiosity do you notice any difference in heat inside of the RV due to the darker colour or the wrap?

    • @PawsForLove
      @PawsForLove  Před 3 lety +1

      That’s a really great question! We have not noticed a difference internally. I would suspect that it’s a little warmer on the outside when you touch it, but it’s no different than a black vs white/silver car.

  • @femalism1715
    @femalism1715 Před 3 lety +1

    I was really curious about this video because I had no idea what wrapping an RV meant or why it would have to 'wrapped'. It looked like wallpapering but I assume the purpose was partly insulation and partly advertising the tour with custom graphics. Could you explain?

    • @PawsForLove
      @PawsForLove  Před 3 lety +1

      Great question! Yes! We chose to wrap the RV for advertising the tour as we travel. It’s already generated the best conversations too! So it’s working. :) The grey and yellow graphics are a 3M vinyl material - it’s like one big sticker on the RV! :)

  • @loganmccarty2291
    @loganmccarty2291 Před 3 lety

    So are you using a heat gun to apply the vinyl? And what was the price?

    • @PawsForLove
      @PawsForLove  Před 3 lety

      Yep we sure did! We got quotes for between $10k-15k for the complete wrap.

    how many rolls of 3m?

  • @hunkereddownoutdoors
    @hunkereddownoutdoors Před rokem

    Could you tell me roughly how much this cost to do?

    • @PawsForLove
      @PawsForLove  Před rokem +2

      It would roughly cost between $8-10k. The material is about $2,500 and the rest is all labor. So if you’re feeling capable, it will save you a lot!

    • @delanos53
      @delanos53 Před 3 lety

      Had to use a heat gun and scrapper. A year later a goof in in my ham radio club wrecked it. Thankfully it was donated. We raised enough money to buy a 5th wheel and I got to design the enterior. Biggest communication trailer I ever saw short of the government lol. Never got to use it I got transferred shortly after it was completed. Lol.

    • @PawsForLove
      @PawsForLove  Před 3 lety

      Sean did the same - heat gun, a scrapper, and a lot of “goo gone” equivalent! It took him longer to do the front cap than all 3 sides of the RV!
      Ugh!!! We’re so bummed that happened to you! Bet you’ll never forget those experiences 😂 even if you’d like to!
