Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal considered it Mustahab to ask Allah through status of Prophet , and this is written in early Hanbali books. Someone please help me I am confused I also used to believe its bida'h but now when I read that Salaf like Imam Ahmad and others recommend it , now I am confused.

This is a petty poor explanation of tawassul. Tawassul means to seek a means. It has different types. The first is to seek tawassul by invoking the names/attributes of Allah(swt), second is to seek tawassul through mentioning virtuous deeds persons had done and the third is to seek tawassul via mentioning the righteous. The third has been divided in two types. Many ulama such as Imam Ahmad allowed the invoking the names of the deceased pious, in particular the Prophets.

This guy needs to recite Quranand understand the verse where Allah mentions that people who have died in the way of Allah, Allah says they haven't died, rather their sustenance also comes from Allah. So when a Shia visits the shrine of Allah's beloved, we ask these chosen ones to intercede between us and Allah.

This category is not in hadith. It is made by scholars but based on Qur'an and Sunnah. How?
      1. The only tawassul Islam allowed is mentioned first. So it's called sharai tawassul.
      2. This tawassul is invented later so it's called tawassul bidai.
      3. This tawassul is invented later and also it is shirk as this is exactly what the mushrik of Mecca did and Christians (nasara) did and they are called mushrik by Allah. So scholars named it Tawassul shirki.
      And Allah knows best.

He can’t hear you it s shirk in something he can’t do only Allah can hear everyone Allah is the all hearer…no dead person can intercede for you only Allah accepts intercession from whom he chooses, because Allah is all knowing, that dead person in the grave doesn’t know you, so even if he can hear you say when you want someone to go to put in a good word for you to get a job with his boss that person your asking you must know that person and he must know you to be able to put a good word in for you(or like a witness in court) etc, dead ppl can’t hear and they don’t know you especially if they lived centuries before you like abdelqadir Al jeelani rahimahuAllah Allah knows you and Allah is all forgiving all merciful he will help u alone, no one needs to come between u and your lords relationship Allah hates ppl who pray to dead ppl so Allah can forgive them, Allah wants you to call out to him alone, that way he knows you put your full trust in him and him alone.
