The Floyd's porting was a game changer for us. Went from a firearm we like to shoot, to a firearm we love to shoot. My wife always wants to bring it to the range. Even without any upgrades, the Metal Competitor is a solid firearm. Still considering that brass magwell. If it came in black I would have already pulled the trigger on it. Awesome video.
I just looked it up last night and they unfortunately are out of stock on the brass magwells. Limited edition stuff is tough lol. Im glad I got one while I could. Porting though…that makes this gun every bit what it should have been from the factory

I dont know that I’ll be picking one of the new Carry Comp’s up. They are supposed to be releasing another gun this coming week, no idea what it is. YT has been killing me on add revenue and I just blew my budget out till the fall on a few purchases I made this last week. If things pick up a bit I’ll consider it but im really wondering what they are announcing this coming week

I added the Apex Trigger to the Competitor. Have a M&P L with semi drop in Apex Barrel and will out shoot the Competitor out to 50 yards. So I installed a Apex gunsmith Barrel . No malfunction , extremely accurate and will feed all types ammunition. Good review.
I definitely think you can get a better gun at a more reasonable price by buying the polymer 5” M&P and building it out like that vs the Competitor. That Competitor slide looks pretty cool though lol

It's a great gun to build out from. In its stock configuration its ok...but with upgrades its pretty damn nice

Kind of. It depends on what you want milled. They do have optic cutting services for several guns.

I'm a self admitted S&W fan boy , but I have the Spec Series 9c with Faxon Comp , Apex trigger & extractor , floyds custom . It shoots so good I can't justify spending 300 more on a metal personally 🤔 , good video

For sure, totally different styles of guns though. I have a love for the M&P that goes back to the 1.0 full size and compact versions. I had both. The 2.0 really brought the platform to a whole new level but these metal frames are kind of a gimmick to be honest. It's not a huge increase in performance. I would actually recommend people buy the 5" polymer vs the Competitor

@@Average_Joe_Arms and at a fraction the cost of the Competitor. Id rather buy the polymer, add the Apex, Floyds magwell and mag extensions and have that gun at that price point then buy the metal frame. Really I just bought it because I needed to test for YT and because im an addict lol
Does porting your S&W change its accuracy?
Not in any way that you will notice. I get a lot of questions and comments on my ported guns about accuracy. I think the indoor range that I use for zeroing optics goes out to 25 yards. Within that range I get the same grouping as I would with a stock barrel. This isnt just for the M&P, I have an Echelon and two Hellcat Pro that are ported and they perform the same as before the porting. When I shoot outdoors at various gravel pits I can accurately ding steel targets at roughly 100 yards just like before the porting. 100 yards of course isnt a realistic range for a 9mm. You wont find many situations where you are trying to reach targets that far away but if you do, it shouldn’t be an issue.
Are you going to get the new M&P comp version? If so, it would be a good comparison vid between this Floyd's ported one and M&P's comp one.
I thought about it. The problem is I'm in a state with mag restrictions so I can't even order one till they put one out that comes with 10 round mags. I guess I'll see what happens the closer we get to closing out the year because right now I have 6 new guns on my desk I've purchased. I need to get some content made and recoup what I've invested there before I spend anymore money lol
Old topic: what is the best way to mount Holosun eps carry optic to Hellcat Pro ? C&H adapter plate, C&H direct milling or other ? Thanks 🇺🇸✊
Most people would say to modify the slide and just skip using a plate. To me, either one is a good choice. A plate costs $50 and takes a few days to get in hand, modifying the slide costs a bit more (not sure the price) and could take weeks. Either way make sure your screws are torqued correctly and you are using loctite and you should be fine
