This is the blues cranked way up. They were the best band, in my opinion. Robert Plant, lead vocals wrote the lyrics, and harmonica, John Paul Jones, bass and keyboards, arranged a lot of the music, John Bonham “Bonzo”, drums, best ever, and Jimmy Page, lead guitar, and creator of the band, wrote the music, and producer. I would suggest you react to “You Shook Me” from their first album. Straight blues.

You guys are gifted with musical knowledge, being fair and honest in your assessments, - and funny! I just recently found your site and now a fan as well.
Led Zep is a real treat and obviously one of the all-time greatest.
I know you've done many reviews of LZ albums since this review, so I know you really appreciate them. "Since I've Been Loving You", is one of many, of their great tunes and certainly a favorite of mine.
LZ was officially my first live concert in Aug '69, upstate NY, a week after Woodstock. I had just turned 17. I think it may have been on their first tour of the US.
They were young & new, and made a huge impression with their debut album - which is still my favorite album by them, regardless the wonderful work they've done afterward. Hard to really dislike anything they've done musically.

Led Zeppelin was considered hard rock/heavy blues but they played a variety of styles. Guitarist Jimmy Page did that solo in one take. You mentioned James Brown, they did a playful take on James' style with a song called "The Crunge". Most people hate it but I think it's fun and they weren't making fun of James Brown, they were just being silly and having a good time in the studio that day. If you want to stick to a more serious style, try some funk with their song "Trampled Under Foot". Another blues song that I personally consider better than this is "Tea For One". It is the most heart-wrenching, hard, blues song. It hardly ever gets reacted to so I hope you consider it. Also, if you select any of these, please listen to the studio first - as you heard here - the production is second to none.

Led Zep quit as a group in 1980 after the drummer, John Bonham, died. Except for a few re-union shows, they've pretty much gone their separate ways. They were the very definition of Rock Stars in 70s. Next rec: "Good Times, Bad Times". Their first song on the first side of their first album. Hit the world like a punch in the face in 1968. Best song off that album IMO is "Dazed and Confused", another blues rock banger.

  • @jmar7631

Although Led Zeppelin was a rock band, the best ever, they drew heavily from blues, especially early in their career, although they also incorporated other genres into their music (soul, funk, folk, rockabilly, etc.). They were certainly no "one trick pony".
If you want to hear more of their blues tunes, I suggest that you go back to albums 1 and 2. A few from album 1 (recorded in 1968, dropped in 1969) include You Shook Me, I Can't Quit You Baby and How Many More Times.
A few from album 2 (recorded and dropped in 1969) include Whole Lotta Love, The Lemon Song, Bring it on Home.
Both albums 1 and 2 were recorded when the guys' ages ranged from just 19-24. Quite amazing, obviously very gifted guys and remember, no auto tune back then. What's cool about listening to studio versions is hearing the magic of Jimmy Page (guitarist) as producer.

What I love about his style of drumming is that it reminds me of early burlesque strip tease beats. Hands down the best drummer ever!

There's the cutest video of Jimmy Page on tv with his skiffle band. Omg! 🤦‍♀️ He's 13 years old. He's so comfortable performing already. At 16 he became a studio musician in London. This is where he met JPJ. This is also where he learned to read music (cause he had to) and he played every style of music. He's on Rolling Stones records, the Who and many others. This is where he also learned all about engineering. If anyone was ever born to be a star, it was Jimmy. ❤️❤️❤️

You NEED to hear "Kashmir" from Celebration Day, it was a reunion concert and they were in their 60's and KILLED it! IMO, the best live version of the song! Great reaction btw! You need to enlarge your part of the video so we can see your great reaction better!

Sadly, the chance of the surviving members, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, reuniting for a tour is almost non-existent at this point.
