    That's a piece of gear that the hiking community knows very well. The Nano puff makes a great lightweight warmth addition to any pack. Glad to see you're leveraging it for urban travel adventures too. Thumbs Up!

      Agreed SoCalDaveL! Deceptively warm for the size it is - great piece.

    I've traveled the world and this was one piece of kit that I considered absolutely necessary. It is lightweight and easy to travel with. If it gets cold, tighten the strings and zip the hoodie up and you are good to go. Super versatile and just a great piece for wherever you are.

    I live in London, England and it’s useful for travelling away for weekends and also to have if I’m going to a gig/bar or if I’m cycling. Being able to condense it down when not needed, have it on buy open if it’s a bit chilly or fully zipped up if it rains or is cold is really useful

    The Nano Puff Vest is also excellent. Both are first tier clothing for me, excellent for travel, commuting, skiing, etc.

    Food for thought: When reviewing it’s helpful to give the size you were and how tall / how much you weigh (roughly). Super helpful when chumps like me are in between sizes and have trouble committing to one or the other.
    Cheers!

    • @PackHacker
      @PackHacker  Před 4 lety +2

      Hey - currently the warmth has not diminished, however, there has been some pilling on this jacket that's slowly developing with more use. You can check this out on our usage timeline on the full written review here packhacker.com/travel-gear/patagonia/nano-puff/ - hope this helps!

    • @PackHacker
      @PackHacker  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey devilembace1 - we've found that the Patagonia Nano Puff packhacker.com/travel-gear/patagonia/nano-puff/ keeps you warm in temperatures from 30-50 degrees Fahrenheit with just a t-shirt underneath. Anything colder (so if the temperature drops to -20C) then we recommend pairing this jacket up with some more layers to keep you warm. Hope this helps!

    • @PackHacker

    Is this suitable to wear in NYC in January, or would you recommend something else from Patagonia?

    • @PackHacker
      @PackHacker  Před 6 lety +2

      Hey Otto - it depends on your threshold for cold. We've found it to be suitable for NYC in January, and if not, easy to layer up a sweatshirt or a long sleeve shirt - the jacket is incredibly light and easy to layer.

    • @_ottoferdinand
      @_ottoferdinand Před 6 lety

      Pack Hacker thanks a lot. I will first go to the us and then Colombia and Centralamerica. What kind of hoodie/sweater/fleece/etc. would you recommend as a layer?

    • @_ottoferdinand
      @_ottoferdinand Před 6 lety

      That I can also use as jacket on cooler nights in Colombia

    • @PackHacker
      @PackHacker  Před 6 lety +1

      Hey Otto - we've had a lot of luck with this wool hoodie from icebreaker: amzn.to/2gpeDiD - it's on the expensive side, but pairs well with the Nano Puff because of the hood and thinner wool material. Merino wool is excellent for shirts & tops, especially while traveling. Any thinner hoodie or sweater should work well for you - just make sure it's thinner and easy to compress with compression sacks or packing cubes so you're not taking up valuable space!

    hood vs no hood version?

    • @PackHacker
      @PackHacker  Před 4 lety

      Hey! It really depends on your travel style and what works for you. A hood is great for extra warmth and for keeping your head dry in rain showers. However, if you prefer wearing a hat to a hood or you'd prefer to not have a hood get in the way when you're wearing multiple layers or wearing this jacket as a mid-layer then having this jacket without a hood may work better for you.
      You can also check out our review of the Patagonia Micro Puff which we tested with a hood: packhacker.com/travel-gear/patagonia/micro-puff/

      @@PackHacker thank you so much. I ordered both at half price and I will decide. No hood is 40 dollars cheaper. I also ordered Uniqlo ultra light down jacket without a hood. I could wear hoodies underneath. A hood is good as you may lose a hat. But hats are cheap! I will also decide on the color, since it is hard to tell the shade of similar blue on a website. I find the Uniqlo a little too short at the waist. I think I will keep the hooded one, although 40 bucks is a bit much of a price difference. I wonder if the Uniqlo is boxier. Thank you checking the review
