From an engineer's point of view, the numbers of HP, drag coefficients, powertrain friction losses, and many more should have already pointed to what the car was capable of. Being off by amount you were to me is a clear case of dishonest fuckery.

It is like suddenly going five seconds faster than others in F1. It just does not unexplainably happen. On the other hand there will be no problem getting a car to 330mph whatsoever, it all you need is nitro methane and a couple of seconds. I will be really interested to see what they have done.
@@gearloose703 It would have to be alot more then nitro methane to jump from the actual speed (280mph) to 331mph, the numbers are waay to big, in the past we have hit new records in SMALL increments (e.g 270, 278, 281,285,289,290 etc) it just dosent make sense for them ( a very small and fairly new company) to all of a sudden be faster then buggati who have been striving and pushing for years, it's an insult to buggati work and an insult to the car community.
It's not just the engineering. Its that they claimed the record was verified by the timing company, when there wasnt evem a single employee present from said timing company. That was the final nail in the coffin for this project. Lying through their back teeth.

@@jsdzx Well they certainly wouldn't be the first exotic car company to survive a scandal. At the end of the day, it still looks to be a quality product, and I doubt many people who were going to place an order will cancel it because the car "only" goes 270mph lol.

But regardless, he handled the situation well and I’m still gonna doubt him until I see him do it again. That’s when we’ll be able to tell if the car can REALLY hit those speeds. @@tracktime7757 the real question is why he doesn't release the data. Why say we have the numbers on our side yet you can't prove that you do. Why say the GPS data was verified when it wasn't. Even engineering explained showcased how the speed claimed may not have been true. As much as I like ssc the things they've done up until this point just makes the whole company look dodgy.

The only way to silence the critics is to do a second run. As robert* mitchel have mentioned, the tuatara may very well be a 300+ mph car but the validity of the 1st attempt is questionable to say the least

My editors do this crap all the time. Sometimes you do three different cameras with three different frame rates.

Going over 300mph is never easy, and it's always huge risk to the driver. But if figures are right, this car can easily go a lot faster than 331mph.
@@oo.llpee.7457 the speed traces don't make any sense. Air is like jelly at 250mph and the speed is relentlessly moving like it's doing 150mph. Even at 300mph the acceleration is odd.

I was not expecting them to invite the people who “called” them out in the issue. I will be looking forward to when they run again, hopefully we could get USA on the plate. We never held it for that long whether it would be a Mercedes, Porsche, McLaren, or Bugatti who try to beat it

Also, it has been proven (simple math proving their claims of a record run a lie and then also showing that there were no proper people present to verify the run as SSC had claimed), the other CZcamsrs are just too polite and forgiving to call SSC out on it. But deep inside they know just as well as anyone else how crooked SSC is on this. For PR reasons they won't say it in such manner tho.

They literally hid from the public for a week after their run was proven false and not a day before. And I guarantee you, they never would've pointed it out if noone had called them out on it.
He didn't threaten any CZcamsrs? Well, let's ask his friends at various reviewing sources that actively tried to discredit said CZcamsrs by trying to stand with his obvious fraud attempt. And only once that didn't work in the public eye he chose to respond, yeah that really showed his intentions.

nah, it didn't lessen the fact that they faked it. even this statement doesn't answer the questions that were raised. they should just admit they faked it.
Bullshit, they're getting attention that's true but even if we go easy on them they have handled this very unprofessionaly, they calibrated the Dewetron equipment incorrectly (could have input the wrong divider to achieve a higher speed than reality wich is what most people think happened ) They have stalled, deflected, lied and broken promises, the posts about their 316mph avg speed being validated by dewetron is still at their site despite being exposed as a lie. This is not something that appeals to the customers that have enough money to buy cars like these, Oliver Webb declining to drive it in Nevada again doesn't help either.
The car goes 250 and scares the driver to never try again.

its not like they need anything fancy. you just time how long it takes between 2 timing markers then run back the other way and time it again... pretty basic stuff...

@@Theedd9991 like at the drag races? The two gates at the end measure your speed and is not an average of the whole run. Same with top speed runs at Bonneville. Big long straight then timing gate at a specific spot to measure the vehicles speed.
I didn't say they had to use that method, but it's basic, easy, doesn't require satellites or care about gear ratios.
I guess if it's too hard for them to pass through a set of timing gates at the cars top speed, then sure, use gps.
The GPS cannot get it wrong(basically), there is obviously some conversion error. The GPS just says, you here then here then here then here then here.
I really think that they have put a shorter final drive ratio in then expected. Then people adjusting the GPS data to reflect what they though was correct from the cars telemetry.

It's a shame there is so much vaporware in the hypercar space. For every one company with a product that backs up their claims, there are five that sell cars with bogus specs. At the end of the day, we all want this car to be legit. It will be a real testament to the engineering and your organization if the results back up your claims.
In the mean time, though, all of this falls in the vaporware category. Prove us wrong.

@@zippodk There's no confirmation that his team is responsible for the mistake. It could've been the company behind the GPS equipment. It's definitely SSC's fault for not having a back up, but we can't say yet that they cheated

2. Stopwatch? They know the exact distance and how long it should take!
3. A phone for 50$ can show you more exact speed?

@Hayden Dahl The temperatures are good now, not very hot not very cold, the tyres can be warmed up F1 style if needed, and the "cold" air is better for the turbos and overall power.. so doing a run in Hotter conditions its just an excuse, it is perfectly clear now that the car didn´t go near as fast as advertised or another would have been done by now.

Nah, koenigsegg used GPS and got damn near PERFECT data. Just because your phone isn’t super accurate doesn’t mean GPS is sketchy. GPS is probably one of the most accurate technologies. Guinness is also a shit company, quite frankly.

Check out this link. Based on koenigsegg’s data, the distance between the 2nd and 3rd medians is almost exactly correct.
Difficult to know exactly where to place the beams with variables like cross-wind playing a significant role. You don't want the car peaking early, then having to let off the throttle before the beams due to wind.

In response to the criticism, they could have adopted a hard-nosed “there is nothing wrong here“ stance, reminiscent of a certain politician. They didn’t. Your’re attributing motives to SSC for which there is YET insufficient evidence. Personally, I highly doubt the claimed top speed, and it appears there was woefully inadequate independent corroboration. A second run will be very illuminating. However, I think it is simplistic and premature to claim at this point that they set out to deceive the automotive world, actually thinking they were going to get away with it. I hope they didn’t. Much more evidence is needed to prove that they did.

@@aimxdy8680 This car is much lighter than bugatti that's why tires can withstand much longer and doesnt require as much force. Koenigsegg also tested the same set of tires Tuatara used up to 330mph and it was fine, exceeding michelin's expectations. Tires are no problem, the only problem is good weather conditions.

yeah, topgear went downhill the day they fired Jeremy Clarkson. They edited the video and had all the footage and put this montage together and released it on their channel. SSC put their faith in TopGear to give an accurate representation of what happened and they failed. IDK if the car hit 331mph or not but the controversy started because of TopGears editing.

So they lied about Dewetron verifying it, they lied about Guinness verifying it, they lied about the video not being the record run even tho the data overlay was the same as the one that was on the laptop in the video and they lied about the gear ratios... How is this not done on purpose?

@a person not sure about that. they'd need some crazy ass tires. the tires they were running were rated at a much slower speed than what the car could was supposed to do.
You can hear how tall the gears when he was up shifting . It was setup to run that fast .. not made for city driving it was setup more for a run on the salt flats

WHOSE MISTAKE IS THIS, THE CAMERA FILMING COMPANY, SOMEONE IN CHARGE HANDS ON THE PROJECT, I BELIEVE IT’S NOT THE ENGINEERING TEAM AND JAROD’S, BUT RATHER THE CREW ON THE GROUND MONITORING THE SPEED AND LOCATION OF THE CAR, COULD BE A SIMPLE CALCULATION ERROR THAT ADDS UP TO THIS.
