    For cyclists and PEV (personal electric vehicle) one of the biggest burdens is being obstructed on the bike lane by a J-walking pedestrian who's on his phone in a busy urban city.
    I've managed to clear a busy Brooklyn Bridge in 4 and a half minutes.

      You do realize that GoPro videos like this all distort the image, right? This path has far more room than you assume. Plus, do you really think a transportation planner would put bicycles on a 1-foot wide narrow strip? How arrogant. Please, maybe get your facts straight before making assumptions and drawing false conclusions.
      The problem here is simply people too stupid to simply follow the rules. Don't blame the path designers when people are clearly unable to follow pretty simple requirements.
      And as a cyclist who has ridden innumerable times with pedestrians on a bike path, only 20 feet away from an EMPTY pedestrian path, it doesn't matter how wide you make it if people can't understand the most basic of guidelines.

    Pedestrians are our allies in the struggle with cars. I can understand your frustration, but the lanes for pedestrians and bikes are too narrow. Some sympathy and consideration for pedestrians is necessary here.

    • @Joe-vm6ds
      @Joe-vm6ds Před 2 lety +1

      100% agree, this space is way too small for pedestrians and bicycles. 6 lanes for cars and 1 lane for everyone else is pretty absurd for a city like New York

  • @oldbrokenhands

    They need to widen the deck, put it right on top of the lanes dedicated to car traffic.

    This seems pretty dicky to me. If pedestrians share that bridge they have just as much of a right away as you. They are slower, not to mention kids and old people. You should be the one slowing down. The horn is super necessary but you're using just to throw your weight around as if you getting where you want is more important.

    • @YeeLeeHaw
      @YeeLeeHaw Před rokem

      _"You should be the one slowing down"_
      If you actually worked for a living and relied on getting from A to B in time you would understand that you can't just slow down for everyone. The issue here is obviously the cars that take up all the space, remove them, making PEV's more attractive by deregulate them, and there will be plenty of space for everybody.
