I had the pleasure of witnessing Devo live back in 2012. They gave what I can only describe here as a TOTAL performance. Costume changes X 3, Full size cinema screen w/original video clips, state of the art light show, keynote speeches by Chief Strategist Casale and a throwing of Devo hats to the mostly unappreciative audience. Sterile and santised venue aside, this ranks in my top 5 all time great live shows that I have attended. Oh yes, the merchandise out front of the gig was simply Spudtastic. (((((((((DEVO!!!!))))))))
Kevin Pierce Wow! I saw them in ‘82 on the incredible Oh, No! tour and would have LOVED to have seen a show on this tour, but to actually attend the show made into an album... too cool!
Classic tune! I agree, it's an ear worm from an amazing group. It Doesn't Matter To Me is another amazing unknown tune: "Tell me something more/that's what I came here for"
That is edited from what he REALLY said... Whick was... "After 10 years...OF BEING F***ED IN THE A**...in this business." Listen closely you can hear the cut. I WAS THERE!
I can't stop playing this album. I wish the guys would release a limited clean copy of this on CD. Or on Spotify. Best version of Jocko Homo and working in a coal mine. The guys sound as they are having the most fun. That's why I believe it is so good.
Why do the songs on this album sound so much better than the originals? Every time I listen to the original studio versions of these songs it's just so underwhelming and disappointing but every time I come back to this album it's pure gold the whole way through
I think it's because there's an actual band playing the songs. From Shout to SNM it sounds like it's all done on computer. I think by SNM they were adding more live playing but it still sounds very digital. I think if they stuck to recording themselves playing on their later records people might realize the songs are still there.
This up til them at Lollapalooza 96' would have been the most "cult" time to have seen Devo. New wave was a distant memory and everyone was trying really hard to take themselves very seriously, it took the people that were kids while this was being recorded to grow up and point to the commercial schlock of the time and SHOUT! "HEY YOU! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? YOU MUST BE KIDDING ME!"
Actually yes there are at least three full shows of this tour that I know exist, and they're not half bad either. There's one I know is of the early set (acoustic intro) and one that is of the late set (opens with a faster paced version of Going Under). Fun fact, they played Pity You at this show but for some horrible reason they cut it from the album!
The Wow & Flutter and overall sound of this is insanely bad. Not sure if you still use this turntable but might be worth looking out for a new one. Still, thanks for putting this together, nice to get a glimpse of this before I hunt down a copy myself. Duty now spud!
@@markmower6507 Its very easy to find and not expensive. Go to discogs, at the time of writing this, 5th March 2023, the cheapest used offer is £8.00, not sure what that is in dollars, about $10 I think
As bad as Devo's studio albums were at this point, they still put on a great show. The Total Devo songs actually sound exciting, and even the "Somewhere with Devo" suite, which on paper sounds like a godawful idea, is pretty fun to listen to.
DEVO ceased when they lost Alan and even went more over the edge with Gerald's hair plugs and plastic surgery, does he want to relive Kent State again?
Devo was right about everything
Yep...
They are even right that intelligence can be eaten. Wisdom cannot be, though.
Well they are alien potatoes after all.
@@markmower6507 that's actually a song czcams.com/video/gShKgGs-Jbw/video.html
Had this on cassette. Played in so many times in my crappy car on the equally crappy stereo. Life was good.

I saw Devo live too! 😊
I * WAS * THERE !!!

Probably my fave Devo live recording, played it MANY times over the years!
Back when the Palace was called the Palace and actually booked rock shows. Old memories!
I've seen Devo live several times. "Now it can be Told" is there masterpiece. Don't leave home without it.
Praise “Bob”!
I was living on a commune in San Diego and couldn't get to this show. Now I finally get to hear it.
Happy Guy always moves me. Lovely tune!
Happy Guy rocks.
yep
Classic tune! I agree, it's an ear worm from an amazing group.
It Doesn't Matter To Me is another amazing unknown tune: "Tell me something more/that's what I came here for"
And now you know why we're all sitting down..."
Just to show you all we can after all these years in this business"

Better than falling down?!
Great Album. Got it. "It Doesn't Matter to Me" woooo hooooo!
Mark has a great voice. I fuckin love DEVO
Devo gates of steel 1980 ! Forever.....

This album is available on CD.
Killer Album❤
For me this is the best recorded show of Devo... very clean sound and the best musics. Perfect!
great version of Going Under...!!!
Love this album... I had it on cassette.... And it's really sad that it can't be found on Spotify
I Agree… Saw this show San Francisco Fillmore’88
DEVO WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING😮😮😮😮
I'm Somewhere With Devo
MegaSpiritualWarrior Me, too. Always.
With my Baby Doll
Somewhere with Devo . Great

I haven't listened to this cassette in a couple of decades, but right at the end of Baby Doll my spud brain said to me "Satis - faction!"
Wow😊
The best live version of some of these songs, they would later be re-edited for a BMG Record Club exclusive release in 1998.
Awesome!
Wow I've never heard jocko homo like this version, pretty damn good!
Devo siempre fabuloso con todas sus canciones, me encanta y los he escuchado tantas veces !! 👏👏👏
The breakdown into Disco Dancer during the encore is an absolute nuclear detonation.
Great concert!!

Devolution is real
GAH I LOVE THIS LIVE ALBUM SO MUCH!
Thank you for posting this!!! Great version of Happy Guy.
I think that this version of "Happy Guy" is better than the album version
the only tour with shout!
Great songs ...
This is my favorite Devo album of all time. Does any video of this show exist? Anyone?
Actually yes there are at least three full shows of this tour that I know exist, and they're not half bad either.

AKron!
Thanks much!
Beautiful Mutant For Ever !!¡¡
I have lived to see the day that I would see a video advertisement from a Vampyre selling Sunscreen lotion...
Someday it will get reissue
Enjoyed hearing the first half-dozen songs again. Damn shame about all the record skips later in the recording. :(
oddly enough my vinyl copy skipped at the same spots as well
Real vinyl ?? OK. Love it.
Q: DEVO ?
A:. DEVO !
Only tour I saw them on.
Aun conservo el cassette original. .. Saludos desde Chile
Be warned that there are numerous skips on certain tracks.
I had it on CD, but I think that there are different versions with different track listings?!
super cool version of coal mine
Someone tell me again why these boys aren't in the RRHOF.
Wow, this really is off vinyl! Too bad it skips in a couple of places.

it skipped during thats good 😔😔

"More than one hour", yeah, one second more. This video is missing 37 seconds.
Ken State.
It's like Devo sort of unplugged. Lol
Huh, didn't know 'Happy Guy' was a good song before listening to this. HA.
Used the monkey to do it (RIP KOKO)

Is there a digital version I can purchase? This LP skips and it's driving me nuts
Velvet…there is a CD version.
Yes there is, good luck trying to find a copy. Let me know if you have any success with that endeavor...

It Doesn't Matter To Me mattered to no one, and someone called David on drums IS NOT DEVO
