I'm grateful for this video too cos I'm just prepare to go for camping and need some essential lists. But I can't see a camping hammock in this video. I think a hammock is necessary for a camping cos sleeping or rest on hammock is very comfortable. I bought a hammock on amazon that comes with a mosquito net and I'm satisfied with it. Personally I like when we see the intro being you throwing your pack on and getting your permit to hike. This is real and for people that may want do the same hike, its helpful. Content you are delivering is great!

One awesome trail i would recommend, did it this year, was to climb Pico Mountain in the Azores and staying at the top overnight. The sunrize is absolutely amazing, and the azores islands in general provide 9 islands with very unique ways to enjoy nature. Keep in mind they are much smaller trails than what you are used to :)
Absolutely agree, i didn't sleep but it's amazing to be on the top. Visited 5 islands in winter time, and filmed very great video there.

This is the video my consumerist black heart craves and from which my wallet runs away.
I trust Kraig though, he actually uses all the gears effectively, unlike some "outdoor reviewers" who keep shilling new shit every single week.
My thought is the gear can last 25 years plus depending on usage and if you’re just doing the hiking gear $3k is really fair compared to other overpriced gear in other outdoor stores I’ve seen.

Yo kraig, your videos have really reignited the passion in me for backpacking. For about five years I didn’t get out at all and got caught up in the stress of adult life. But after seeing some of your amazing videography I was reminded of why I used to love backpacking and why I need to get out again. Tyler K. Yeah it is. The government is trying to get people to stay at home which means long distance trips are kind of off the radar at the moment. It is what it is, but better in the long run.

Ive never heard of the bandit before. Was gonna pick up the standard enigma quilt until this video came out. Placed a uqg order last month. Compared to the ee enigma i saved $200, got more customized options, and less oz’s. I owe you dude. Come out to the cdt this year! Come to Argentina! With a few dollars you can do a lot here (you can go out and eat a very good meal for 5 - 7 usd)... Ushuaia, Chaltén, Calafate (near Torres del Paine), Mendoza, Catamarca... so many incredible places.

Like every video he makes, this is excellent with no fluff. But, we all know that Kraig’s pack is a special version that always has whatever he needs in there for any trip or situation whether it be a a rain jacket, jet boil stove, or the occasional helicopter if need be.

Hi Kraig, great Videos and thanks for the equipment tips. About waterproof I have a different opinion. Shoes is unnecessary, I agree. But a good breathable rain jacket and trousers are lifesaver in the mountains. I never go without. If temperature drops, rain or snow starts and you can't put up your tent, you could really get in trouble. Please don't die out there because 500g equipment is missing. Look for Trail Runner equipment, you get good protection really light with very good breathability.
Your videos inspired me to try and make a couple hiking vids of my own while in the Adirondacks. I don't know how you do it man! lol Adds a lot of time to the hike. I like the vids I got from it, but I found myself not wanting to spend too much time making sure the shot was just right, so most of the time I shot in auto and didn't bother with a tripod. I might just need to get a better flow going though.
I like these hiking gear update vids. Always good to see what kinda gear you're using while on the trail.

highly recommend Essential Wipes (i use the non scented). They are expandable wipes! They are about the size of a Tums, and you add maybe a tsp of water and it expands into a full sized wipe. Very small and light, as you don't carry the liquid weight. Perfect size. 5 of them fit in a tube about the size of a finger (I use my son's blood sugar test strip container) but a Nuun container or similar would work, too.

I recently lost my camera on a hike - it wasn't stolen, I simply forgot it at a bus stop at the end of the trail and it hasn't been turned in to lost & found. Your comments about just replacing lost gear and not being hung up about it resonate very much with me - I try not to dwell on it but every now and then I still catch myself mentally kicking my own ass.

For those who are upset about the amount of money Kraig spend on its gear I'd like to say:
First, for Kraig it is already a business, so his expenses are justified.
Second, you don't need a lot make good content or start hiking. You don't need the highest quality clothing or gear (especially if you hike short distances). And you don't need SONY camera and a drone to make good quality videos. Very often even a phone camera is more than enough (and they are so good nowadays). Good gear is nice to have of course. But you shouldn't be discouraged if you don't have one or can't afford it now.
The travel videos are such a treat to the eyes, ears and the mind. Love the music. Love the drone shots. Love the detailed breakdown of the hikes. Love the thought and effort you put in. Keep it up !
I was wondering what happened with PD Travel Tripod. RIP!! I can see all your gear that you changed compared to last year is from a weight saving decision.

First aid kit, bro! I'm putting together a pretty badass kit myself... though it's much more likely to be needed for mountain biking than for hiking!
Great stuff Kraig! As for intros to your hiking videos - there are a couple of things I like in your videos, one of which is you seem to keep experimenting and try something new. IMO, that's how I would see your intros. Don't follow a template, just do what you feel is right for a given video, mood you were in when hiking there and so on...just follow with what you feel would work best for a given video.
