    EASY PEASY #CUT #GLASSRINGS! This video shows #ArtistMarcieZiv cutting #glass bottle rings using the #HomePro bottle cutter. I have cut many glass bottles before using this same technique and only recently discovered the joys of making the glass rings. and they are perfect. Here I cut multiple bottles making many rings. These rings are fantastic for making craft projects like wind chimes, jewelry, garden art, totems and more. So go out in your recycling bin (or someone elses') and grab those glass bottles and have some fun! Create Meaningful #Gifts - Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. Say no to glass waste and use this innovative glass bottle technique to create beautiful handmade gifts be it for garden or home for your loved ones that they will truly appreciate.

    really good video, lots of people edit out error or struggle, but it is INCREDIBLY INFORMATIVE to see what happens sometimes, and that it happens to basically everyone! very encouraging.

    i need to drink more wine and practice. tried this method and got a lot of ridged cracks.... so i think more practice will help. can you soak the bottle in cold water, instead of running it?? i hate to leave water running so wondering if you can soak in cold, reheat in the hot, etc.... i guess i'll have to get drunk and practice. hahahaha Great video. thanks for sharing and your time.

      Greetings! I’ve only tried it with running the water specifically on my scored line on bottle. I often collect ( I didn’t in video) the water and reuse. You are only running water on line .. shut off while you dunk bottle in hot water bath … I use the water for plants 🌱 thanks for watching my channel and please don’t get drunk and cut glass😂

    Why do you put the pieces in a tumbler? Is it a rock tumbler?

    HI! How do you 'control' getting Bottom off first, before separating Rings from upper bottle?
    Love the Gator! _by the way_ - Stephanotis looks GREAT! : } What arched trellis used? Thanks!

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi! Ok so the way you more or less control the bottom getting cut is that you make that your focus. It’s in the pot of hot water and you take it out you ate then running THAT section - that scored line on the glass-,under the cold water to shock it to separate. I hope I’m giving you clarity here. Then when the bottom comes off your focus is on next section until all the rings are off. Always maintain your focus on the one scored line at a time of course starting with the bottom score. Thank you for your question and for watching my channel. Very much appreciated😊
      As far as the archway: if you want to see how I did this go to my video czcams.com/video/rYHu5bglwfs/video.htmlsi=I7tiCZVg9ytasloa. I explain your materials and how to!

    You make glass wind chimes? How do you keep them from breaking in high winds

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  Před 10 měsíci

      Hello. I use them in my windchimes as well as polishing edges and leaving in a pretty bowl to display. You can melt them in a kiln and get very cool organic shapes for an objet d’art, You could also integrate them in a totem sculpture which I plan on doing at some point! Thanks for the question.

    Nice video. I've cut glass regularly for work for years. Just some constructive critique. You are pressing much too hard when you score. The wheel should only make a light score breaking the glass surface. Your wheel will last longer and your success rate will be better if you lighten the score. I subscribed.

    Marcie, how long do you run the cold water on the bottles?

    • @marcieziv
      @marcieziv  Před rokem

      Hello! I make a couple of pass overs on bottle focusing in on the score of course. If it doesn’t feel like it’s moving ( cracking) place again in hot water bath and let sit. After practice you will find the sweet spot on timing. If you leave the glass bottle in the hot water bath and it’s scored correctly you will not have to do the cold water treatment but once or twice. I wish I could give you an amount of time however no amount of time under cold water will work unless the other steps are done ✅. The cold water is the icing on the cake.
      Clean glass well, score cleanly, place in a water bath and heat for 30 - 40 min. It can boil then reduce heat, remove bottle carefully with pot holder, empty water inside bottle, wear goggles, run cold water and place bottle line under cold water turning it as you go. Bam!you are ✅ done.
