Saturday, January 27th: Some very good points & excellent suggestions! Happy Trails!
Thank you!
Out of all the films I've seen so far, this gave me a lot of useful and necessary tips! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great summary of everything to consider when starting out.
Thanks buddy!
Great tips and great gear!! Sometimes, the hardest part is just starting! Once you have some experience, you become more comfortable with your gear and being in nature (sometimes alone!) Thanks for sharing your insight on the basics of gearing up!
Too true! Thanks for making some of my favorite gear to take!
Great tips and love your approach. Even for a day hike, I like to pack for the possibility of spending the night in the woods. That becomes my basic criteria for most hikes. And that's even if I'm not hiking in the backcountry.
That's wise. It only takes once!
Fantastic work bud, you explained everything so nicely 👏👏
Thank you!
Great share! I'm ready to hit the trails 👣 Its going to be a great spring! 😊
Woo-hoo!!!
Great video's! i already watched a few and they are so helpfull.
Glad you like them!
Nice roundup
Thank you!
Lots of great tips here.
This might be just me, but I agree that trail shoes are better than mid-highs, although real boots can be better than either. A lot depends on the wearer, the trail, and the conditions, so YMMV (greatly).
UnderArmour Valdez (fully ventilated) and Merrell Tactical (WPB) are lightweight 8" boots that are much more supportive than mids without a huge weight penalty. Both have rock plates, which I love (again, YMMV).
I find them more comfortable than wearing short gaiters with shoes (the gaiters are required to keep junk out of my shoes on the trails that I frequent).
Absolutely. Some of today's boots are lighter and more comfortable than yesterday's tennis shoes haha. I might have to church those out of I ever wear out my Salomons!
@@BackcountryPilgrim Sock trick: Over-the-calf socks can be folded down over the top of the boot. This creates a tight seal, both between sock and leg and between sock and boot.
It eliminates the need for gaiters to keep scree/dirt/needles out of your boots.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day 🍺 great work 👍
I STILL laugh every time I hear “dehydrated wet wipes”!

Fighting the good fight! ;)
Have you tried the "mesh" merino wool base layers?
No, but I am working on getting some. Sounds weird but that's not a deal killer for me LOL!
Great video! Leaving a like to support your channel!
Thank you so much!
Just subbed to you, looks like you got some good stuff!
