  • It's finally time for our drain plumbing and foundation wall inspection 😬 we have to get 10 feet of hydrostatic water pressure on our drain pipes to give them a stress test! Of course, we threw in some fun clips as well 😉
If you’re new here, WELCOME 👋 We have an entire playlist on our house project thus far so you can easily binge watch those and catch up to where we are now!

We have a garden, backyard chickens, and build or fix anything that we need to. We still work corporate day jobs, but are working to eventually leave the 9-5 lifestyle in favor of a self-built, debt-free, homestead on 6 acres nearby.

The warning on the plug is that after you finish filling up to that 10ft, you have about 5 psi in the pipe. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it can be enough to give you a good pop if you're looking right over it and it fails. You guys did a good job!

You're right, when we went to drain the system it was quite a geyser for a couple seconds! Head pressure is very deceiving, I can't imagine what it would be like if a skyscraper drain line clogged up..

Congratulations on passing inspections. You really tired George out today. Another great job.

Thank you! Glad it all went well. George loved the field trip! He barked a lot but overall he had a great time.

Air test seems easier? Not allowed in your area?

The drop in the water level on the main pipe may be from evaporation too.

I actually had the same thought and capped it off the 2nd time and it still happened! Never did find any observable leak, thinking it was just air settling somehow

Will you put the insulation boards back on the foundation?

Yes! We are going to put all the insulation back on and start backfilling 🙂

Question, Mason Dixon Acres, I will be forced to do my own under slab plumbing. The contractors in area are unreliable. The state online code book was difficult for state inspectors to navigate attempting to show me the site. any suggestions I mean any??
