Greg Harrison from CCA showed us all the oyster reefs they are restoring them to bring back the grass and clear the waters once again like it was 20 years ago! Jeff Weakley, executive editor of the Florida Sportsman Magazine was there as well to publish an article about it and myself as a kayak fisherman! We have a long long way to go. I've fished the lagoon since 1990 and we aren't even 2% of the way back to any place I'd even remotely consider restored. It's truly sad what the state of Florida allowed happen to the Mosquito Lagoon/IRL.

Just in the past 3-4 weeks I have seen more large schools of redfish than I have in the past 5 years. Though we have a long way to go it is looking better. If they could ever remove the warm water discharge from the power plant just south of Titusville the manatee would go back to its natural migration patterns leaving the seagrass to grow for 3-4 months without being eaten year round.
Another large relatively new issue is pollution from the non stop rocket launches as the spent propellant lands in the south end of the lagoon. When it was only NASA and the air force we had maybe 5-6 launches a year. Now with the add of space X sometimes we have three times that amount.

lived on the lagoon for 32 years not even in the ballpark of what it was will not come back with hungry manatees eating what little grass comes back. not their fault grass came back griffiths bay manatees ate it all .Grass this year near whales tale loaded with manatees .High water has put porpoises back in the flats tear the fish to pieces. Fish plastic baits puffer fish everywhere eat your lures up. Thousands of new homes more fisherman. Many friends who know the lagoon wheres the trout ? I was lucky to have years at its best
